Dungeon 9 Turn 35
————
Ricki, Kamau, and Lara return to the hidden basement and confront the massive cobra that lurks there. It sees them approaching from the end of the hall and flares its hood as it slithers forward to meet them…
Ricki and Kamau’s blades bite into the creature’s scales. Lara is pierced by the snake’s fangs, taking 1 damage, but uses her new blade to sever its head even as it clings to her.
“Uhhh… Lara, are you okay?”
“Poison Resistance, baby! Wooo!!”
Lara then carves out the snake’s venom glands for possible later use, as well as removing its menacing hood as a trophy. She then dumps them both on the ground because nobody has room to carry them.
Botanya makes a flower necklace for one of the zombies.

ROTFANG HOOD

VENOM GLAND, ROTFANG COBRA

A character with Poison Use can apply this venom to a weapon when making an attack. That attack deals 4-6 additional poison damage.
Weight 1 (Stack 5), Cost 10
Awesome!
Now all we need to do is go back and slay the green rat, the last visible monster the same color as the secret chest.
I think that ship has sailed. Too much chance there’s another ghast in the tombs. We got the siege sword from that ghast so that’s a win right there.
HOW was Lara able to one-shot the cobra?? I legitimately thought somebody was gonna die before I saw the second panel.
I think ricki and Kamau softened it up with their attacks. She just got the cool kill scene.
Unfortunately, she also got bitten, so Kamau is on the edge of a remorse trigger. Time to bounce IMHO
It’s never worth it to leave a dungeon to avoid remorse. We’d lose that Kamau level up by leaving, so if we can complete the dungeon and all it costs us is Kamau’s remorse not his life, we do it imo.
This was the buff Lara needed to be comfortable pick for dungeons.
No longer will we tremble in fear of poison immunity.
That was awesome and I’m thrilled to be wrong. One remorse though so gotta make it count. And so….
Lara: drop the stake and pick and pick up the gland and wear that fancy new snake hood to look even more badass. Move up a room.
Kamau: Double move up two rooms.
Ricki: Investigate the egg shard to see if there’s anything neat about it. If there is, or you find something cool – bring it with by dropping your stake. Then move up to join Kamau.
Botanya: Dance in a little flower circle with your new buds. You know they’re dying soon and should have this last happy memory before the inevitable.
Mostly getting the spoils and positioning for when we go for the roamers next turn. Time to spend some rounds getting past traps and sniping zombies
Ricki and Kamau will stay to the left of the trapdoor in this.
Can’t edit for some reason. Weird.
Laura has two drop two things to pick up two things even if she wears one. I say she drops the pick. We dont really need it.
Can we not drop 2 of our +4 vs undead items right before the undead boss fight?
Ricki’s stake is still safe likely. Mostly cause I doing the Eggshell is anything but flavor. But Lara’s is being sacrificed for the snake cap and poison anyway which are better upgrades I think. ID we’re Super concerned we can maybe go back but I don’t think there’s anything better to drop yet.
Okay, that’s fair
I could have Kamau drop the cigarettes and have him take the gland but I sorta want him near Ricki just in case.
Doing the math, we have time to clear bottom hallway, loot spider chest and kill Botanya’s zombies before more zombies joins them.
Kamau: Double move to lever room
Ricki: Move to lever room, pull lever
Lara: Gently drop stake and pick inside eggshell to have space to pickup gland and hood, then move up a room
Botanya: Hug a zombie as tightly as you can. Does that seems to draw it’s attention move than standing still?
Timeline (New zombies arrive in Botanya’s room at turn 41):
37-Bottom hallway zombies+green rat cleared.
38-Spider chest looted. Lara and Kamau in lever room
39-Lara,Ricki,Kamau move directly to the left of Botanya’s room
40-Botanya’s zombies killed.
This also avoid an awkward timeline where zombies spawn on top of us while we’re looting boss’s treasury room/fighting the necro and its elite guard. We don’t have time to clear boss before turn 40 where next zombie wave spawn unless we give up on the chests in his room so might as well aim for a turn 49 dungeon clear.
If we fight those 3 zombies what does our infection look like?
Also keep in mind that only Ricki, Kamau, and the flytrap are available. Lara won’t be in position to help fight the 3 zombies under this timeline.
That’s plenty. Ricki and Kamau kill a zombie each, flytrap+ shroom kills rat. Or shroom can distract a zombie if we’re feeling confident zombie rat dies to flytrap alone.
The mushroom will die if it gets attacked. Ricki’s has only one hp left. That would reduce her defense and attack by one for the rest of the dungeon (plus our long term labor going down by one and we’ll have one fewer large mushroom in the future if they turn out to be awesome)
Also not to mention Ricki will be at 3 infection in a best case scenario after that, with 4 zombies plus the 40 turn spawn to worry about.
We don’t need to make shroom attack if we don’t want to. Giant rats need 4 damage to kill, and zombies aren’t strong so I highly doubt the zombie rat would survive flytrap’s 5.
Flytrap still has a miss chance. I don’t think one chest is worth two infection points.
+2 total at most. There’s no way our pets can’t solo the rat. Maybe +1 if we successfully distract a zombie with a shroom?
Yeah I’m not super into this idea even if it looks good on paper. Minimal infection is wanted and frankly, having some slack built in for surprises is gonna be a good idea. I’m not sure even if we’re planning for turn 49 exit will make It if we’re not careful.
I don’t think he will, but if the necromancer does do infection damage we might be in trouble.
He (necromancer) might not do infection by himself, but he might be able to summon more zombies in a fight. Can we PLEASE stop to faff around and do what we need to clear the dungeon somewhat safely?
I’m thinking the dungeon might not end when we kill the necromancer and might when we destroy the corpse he’s working on or the pile. That there might give us infection if we mess with it unless botanya is the one doing the deed.
Hey so with the two armored zombies I wonder if the trap above them is a trapdoor that’s activated by buttons, which makes me think that we can put stuff on the trapdoor, have Botanya lure them right underneath it, then open the door so stuff lands on their head. Hopefully this will allow us to avoid Infection damage.
Definitely a thought. I think I was hoping we could activate the trap door by throwing something on it that would hit the mine right below and do some damage. Lara can snipe now with the rotfang hood so we might be able to take them out from afar.
Would that thing have caused 4 damage to ricki, while remorsing Kamau if it had targeted her?
and didnt lara have an eye at that spot where the tooth is stuck?
Unsure, but certainly possible. It did a range of damage (based on the gland) and we don’t know if it rolled high or low
