Dungeon 9 Turn 34
————
Ricki inspects the empty sarcophagus, but finds nothing of interest. It was probably just open because that ghast climbed out of it at some point. Maybe some other dungeoneer was here first and did it, like maybe one of those guys dead in the other room with an arrow in them. Or maybe that skeletal dog opened it after being raised from the dead because it belonged to this guy when it was alive. The possibilities are endless.
The narrative possibilities that is. There’s nothing productive to be done with this thing.
Ricki then heads to the right and enders her turn in the lever room.
Kamau and Lara proceed deeper into the dungeon.
Botanya continues to be feebly swiped at by zombies. She’s starting to think the others ditched her.
Okay, I am of a mind to deal with those zombies just because Botanya is sad.
Not only that, but in 6 more turns, there’ll be more than just the two zombies (which is foreseeable no problem for Botanyas defense, but it will give more people infection, when we clear them out eventually).
Plan: deal with zombies.
Ricki: move up. Point out trap to party. Move right.
Lara and kamau: move up. Avoid trap. Double move right
Botanya: hang in there a bit longer!
Um. The movements don’t look right. Ricki would have to go right, up, right, and Lara and kamau up and right.
My Bad, I thought Ricki was with Kamau and them from last turn.
So the puzzle chest is still on “?”, didn’t switch to “!”, therefore I conclude that there still is some ghast around somewhere (or that we’d need to kill the zombie rat in the lowest level of the room Ricki started in, because of tail colour). Bummer. I don’t think 3 more tombs are realistic to open, especially because 2 of them are behind a slate/rat tunnel, and also because of the sheer amount of zombies in the way.
I guess we could have Botanya distract the zombies and open the lower tomb, while Ricki sneaks by and goes through the rat tunnel, but that would have needed the group well positioned for such a plan. If only we hadn’t wasted turns moving back and forth, but taken care of the zombies as planned… 😛
Plan: deal with zombies (correct) movement & plan for battle
Ricki: move right, then up. Point out trap to party. Double move right. Drop the scroll of poison enchantment
Lara and kamau: move up. Avoid trap pointed out by Ricki. Double move right
Botanya: hang in there a bit longer!
__ Reasoning __
Essentially the plan Claudious posted, but with corrected movement for Ricki.
I also have her drop the enchament scroll so Lara can pick it up later. This allows her to enchant the big sword still this dungeon and save HP for the next (if we fight zombies with pets we might have a free action on her anyway? Unless we fuck up she also shouldn’t take any damage, but we could also try delay this for our last turn?)
I *think* Lara doing it this dungeon might mean remorse, but I’m not sure if the self inflicted but mitigates that or not.
Self-inflicted damage from cigarettes or Cordy’s abilities has never caused remorse so far, so I assume this won’t either.
If it did we could also never enchant permanently with a character other than Kamau while he is around.
“Drop the scroll of poison enchantment” Even if we would want to do so: Please do not drop things “upstairs”. That would mean unnecessary movement from the Necromancer’s room upstairs and downstairs again, resulting in a certain chance that we will not pick up the item at all before finishing the dungeon (and afterwards we cannot pick up anything any more anyway).
Ricki: move right, then up. Point out trap to party. Double move right.
Lara and Kamau: move up. Avoid trap pointed out by Ricki. Double move right
Botanya: hang in there a bit longer!
(Claudious’ plan with fixed movement)
Cannot edit my post – but neither downvote it because then the page tells me that it is my own post…
Please downvote and upvote Siv’s plan instead! Thank you.
Ricki: move right, then up. Point out trap to party. Move past trap, avoiding it.
Lara and Kamau: move up. Avoid trap pointed out by Ricki. Double move right
Botanya: hang in there a bit longer!
“Move past trap, avoiding it.” and move into the room to the right, naturally.
So, zombies are mindless and Botanya has a couple of them fighting her just because she approached them first.
We should test if they will change targets if another character runs up to them while Botanya has them occupied. I think we should send only Kamau and the flytrap there (not next turn because it will take a double move) and have them attack those zombies. If this works, we can have Botanya safely tank the zombies.
If it doesn’t work, Kamau can take another infection point with not much immediate consequences, and we still have Botanya’s pipe.
Ricki: move right, then up. Point out trap to party. Move past trap, avoiding it. Move right
Lara and Kamau: move up. Avoid trap pointed out by Ricki. move right
Botanya: hang in there a bit longer!
Editing is borked today, sorry
Greedy Plan:
Kamau and Lara Wait for Ricki then go downstairs to engage the cobra together. Lara equip the siegesword and attack, Kamau equip your hilt and attack.
Ricki: Go right then downstairs to engage the cobra.
Botanya chill.
This will give us 11 damage on Lara, 9 damage on Ricki, and 10 damage on Kamau. 29 damage seems like it should very nearly kill a Cobra. Lara will have 11 defense against a poison enemy, Kamau will have 10 defense and Ricki will have 11 with her shield.
If we want to go for the snake, we should also consider that it’s possible someone gets attacked by Coc on their way into this room. That didn’t happen the turn of the ghast fight in the tombs, so if it doesn’t happen this time this plan is pretty unlikely to result in anyone taking damage. If Coc does get to attack and the Ghast turn was just a fluke Kamau probably needs to use his shield and interpose in the cobra fight for the first round.
Not-so-reckless snek plan.
Kamau and Lara Wait for Ricki then go downstairs to engage the cobra together. Lara equip the siegesword and attack, Kamau equip your shield and interpose.
Ricki: Go right then downstairs to engage the cobra.
Botanya chill.
