Dungeon 7 Turn 33
————
Ricki uses one of her magic lenses on the mammoth. Turns out it’s really strong and she’s glad they didn’t decide to fight it.
Macadamia finishes off the final chicken, causing two eggs to drop as loot from the long battle. However, he has no room in his inventory, so he sets them off to the side.
Ricki meets up with Lohk and Kamau next to the item pile. Lohk picks up the two corn cobs, while Kamau eats the birthday cake to recover 1 HP. It may be Ricki’s cake, technically, but leaving food on the floor for more than five seconds makes it unsafe to eat AND voids the law of dibs.

MAMMOTH
HP: 30
Atk: 7
Def: 4
Ability: melee attack hits an area, deals 1 unblockable damage if all damage would otherwise be resisted, +5 Def against ice damage
Drops: 1 Mammoth Hide Armour, 5 Raw Meat, 2 Mammoth Tusks
Ordinary livestock that has been rendered hostile by a dungeon. Mammoths attack wildly, flailing their trunks and tusks to hit as many targets as they can. If they can’t reach a target, they are smart enough to look for a way around. A mammoth in a dungeon is a very violent animal, but as it was formerly domesticated, it can sometimes be rendered docile if it doesn’t feel threatened. A mammoth that is made docile and then attacked again, however, goes on a rampage from which there is no return.
Sounds like hay would make it docile so we could escape right. Now the question is do we want to explore left and check out crows before we exit the dungeon?
I think it looks very safely kill-able, actually. We just gotta make sure he can reach a target (Kamau) while everyone else stays out of melee reach and blow it up with ranged attacks like our bow and wand of fireballs.
I’m not a fan of a feed hay plan anymore given we’ve just learnt we can safely get its boss-tier loot instead. Heck, maybe we can push the hay back after killing the bull to squash the pumpkin with boosted gravity and make out with loot from TWO (mini?)bosses.
Too much risk. I wouldnt wanna risk being set on a timer until Kamau dies, and the “smart enough to find a way” part of his description is intimidating.
The “smart enough to find a way” is indeed scary, but it is conditional to being unable to reach a target so putting Kamau in its face completely negates that part.
As for the timer, someone smarter can math it out in a detailed plan, but I guesstimate we can kill it in 3 turns of combat or so and Kamau has much more hp than that remaining. But yeah, I’m in support of hay plan if my estimation turns out to be too far off after seeing the complete math.
So clearly, the team need to run the bale out to the Mammoth, cut it down, ride out on top of mammoth Indialantic fashion
In dramatic fashion sorry. Autocorrect
Ricki: push hay bale to the right, move left after that.
Macadamia: go to the rightside haybale loft, prioritize your safety and try to cut off the haybale in whaever way you feel it is safe to.
Lohk: go left and feed the chickens with all the corn you have.
Kamau: consume a corn spear from your inventory.
I prefer to not fight manny. Once he is docile, he will stay that way and we can likely leave with him and return him to the farmers, earning goodwill and labour.
We should finish what we started and finish feeding the coop a whole stack of corn. Let’s hope we get a pet
We can’t carry more spears out so let’s heal kamau.
Next turns we rearrange our inventory and go left to face the dungeon twist.
From the wording on the lens description, I find it highly unlikely that we can “leave with him”. We know from Lara’s “subdue spider” skill that “docile” is a downgrade from being even a temporary pet. And we can’t leave with those. “docile” just means it won’t attack.
The intermission page 18 tells us we need to clear the whole dungeon to help/befriend the farmers (and we don’t have the time for that). We also know the empire will kill and loot everything they can so that bull is good as dead anyway, and I’d rather have its loot be in our hands that the empire’s.
I would like to be happily surprised, but I don’t have much hope for it.
Might as well have Kamau eat the ground corn spear first.
Couldn’t edit, so added another plan to that effect.
Mammoths are livestock? What is this, Skyrim?
They shave them from time to time and make sweaters and socks.
At least there’s no giant around to launch our party to space.
Again with the ideas. Best to just not say anything unless you can think of a way to get members of the party back down from the stratosphere
I’ve changed my mind. Good plan. We can then mine the moon for cheese. Where shall we look for this giant?
Squirrel would love this idea!
Squirrel, Devourer of the Moon.

Ricki: push hay bale to the right, move left after that.
Macadamia: go to the rightside haybale loft, prioritize your safety and try to cut off the haybale in whaever way you feel it is safe to.
Lohk: go left and feed the chickens with all the corn you have.
Kamau: consume a corn spear from the ground.
Couldn’t edit other plan, so added this one since last one had no votes
This plan isn’t bad. Mostly I’m worried about how long it’s going to take us to get out of the barn with this plan (assuming we still want to grab Lohk’s robe and the potatoes at least).
Somebody has to feed the pumpkin, and only Ricki has veggies available. So either we need a turn for Lohk to grab an onion, or a turn for Ricki to grab items and then feed the pumpkin. At that rate we won’t get out of the barn until T36, and might not see a new screen until T37.
Plan to kill the mammoth and send Macadamia out to explore.
Ricki: Drop the rope from Molly on the ledge so Kamau can tie it up next turn. Go left and drop the wand of fire with the robe and other items for Lohk to pick up next turn, then push the haybale one screen to the left.
Kamau: Stay on your screen and trade with Macadamia. Give him your helmet and copper ring of aggression for his two silver rings of aggression and the swift blade. Equip the swiftblade and the two silver rings.
Macadamia: Go right then trade with Kamau. Equip your new helmet and copper ring of aggression, then move left twice to get to the ledge above the pumpkin.
Lohk: Go left and feed both corn to the coop.
Explanation: This does most of the setup to get us fighting the mammoth. Kamau will do 8 damage with the swiftblade, both rings, and his perk for doing additional damage to enemies with more than twice his health. Ricki will do 5 damage with the hunter’s bow, and Lohk will do 4-7 with the wand of fireball and the robe. All together we’ll be able to do 13-16 health damage a turn (17-20 dmg before defense). If we’re lucky, the fight ends in two turns, but at most it’ll take 3. I’m not sold this is the best idea, but if we were gonna fight, I think this makes the most sense.
Future turns would look something like:
T35:
R: Push haybale one screen left, spot for Mac then move back right.
K: Move right, tie up rope to beam so he can climb down to fight Mammoth the following turn.
M: Cut the hay bale so it falls on the pumpkin (have Ricki spot for you). Move right, and if Ricki confirmed the pumpkin is smashed, move left left on ground floor.
L: Go right, drop shield (or torch?), pick up robe and wand from pile.
T36: Mammoth fight plus Macadamia scouting?
T37: Mammoth fight plus scouting?
T38: Mammoth fight ends definitely.
T39: Fix inventory
T40: Run.
2 turn kill? Wow, I’m in awe of you optimization skills as always!
I’m wondering about the chicken army one screen left of the bull though. The bull is said to “Attacks anything it sees”. Do you think there’s a good way to incorporate that? Lens says bull will try to hit as many target as it can and that’s a lot of chickens, who can deal 19 atk to him in return. Would that save us an action or 2?
Much of this comes from the discord. People did the math before me, it just didn’t get posted because most people were still more in favor of going after crows. I just optimized actions a little and made a post. Thanks though! I think our odds of finishing it in two turns are around 37.5% with this loadout, but it depends a bit on how the damage on fireball actually works.
I’m in favor of fighting the mammoth.
Would just like to suggest that we cast the gravity spell from the staff on the area in an attempt to stop the mammoth from attacking the squishies up on the ledge by throwing rocks or spraying with his trunk.
“If they can’t reach a target, they are smart enough to look for a way around”, and to me this means trunk ranged attack.
I think if a ranged attack was possible, it’d be called out as an ability explicitly. I’m more worried about the mammoth doing something like, trying to knock the ledge down or something. I still think it’s unlikely if Kamau was attacking it at the same time, but it’s certainly possible.
Word of warning. We will not be able to carry off the loot AND investigate whatever is happening to the left.
I posted this plan, but I do think we should be careful about giving up the chance to really see what’s going on to the left and respond. If it turns out the thing going on to the left is a new character, we will be sad to have fought the mammoth instead of rescuing the new character.
Plan to NOT kill the mammoth:
Lohk: Move left. Feed both corn cobs to the coop.
Ricki: Pick up the potatoes, the extra onions to fill your stack, and Lohk’s robe. Move left to the entrance.
Macadamia: Move right. Push the haybale one right to the ledge above the mammoth.
Kamau: Eat a corn spear from the floor. Move left.
Explanation: This gets us set up to depart and scout in force. We won’t be able to get back to kill the mammoth, but Mac will be able to drop the haybale next turn. Following turns would look like:
T35:
Macadamia: Cut the haybale, then run two screens to the left, join the group and move left past the pumpkin.
Ricki: Wait for Mac to catch up. Move left, feed an onion to the pumpkin. Move left again?
Kamau: Pick up egg to fill stack. Move left and past pumpkin face.
Lohk: Move left past pumpkin face. Pick a not onion so we finally know what they are.
T36: Continue exploring. If we find nothing this turn we could try to run back and take on the mammoth really fast, but I’m not sure we have the turns for it.
“Ricki: Move left”, but in the same room, obviously.
Great catch. I thought she was still outside with the mammoth. Fixed.
I am voting for this plan, or any other plan that doesn’t involve killing Manny
I support no kill
I support this plan.
I don’t get it it. Why cut haybale if going left? This seem a waste of time.
The votes are… Unusually swingy.
I recommend everyone please reply to the plan you prefer, with a simple: I support this plan, or similar.
I’d be surprised if there’s much more time before LSN locks it in. Unless he’s waiting for a more definitive lead.
