Dungeon 7 Turn 14
————
Ricki, Macadamia, and Daisy pretty easily wipe out the group of chickens while Kamau blocks their attacks. Once again, no eggs are dropped. Bad luck!
While that fight happens, Lohk sidles past to read the note pinned to the wall. It says:
“Free Range, Corn-Fed, All Organic Chickens (wish the crows were this picky)”
Lohk wonders if this is an actual note written by an actual farmer or if it just appeared in the dungeon one day.
A headless chicken is trying to escape!
Investigate the inside and outside of the coop? Maybe there are eggs or a monster inside.
We can do that later. Right now we’re on a soft time limit, with the attack penalty
Send the rat in, it fits in the hole and isn’t doing anything.
I bet there are a ton of eggs behind that access door. A coop is where chickens lay eggs, for those of you who don’t know.
All true, but
(1) I think it’s enough if not-Kamau takes a peek inside through the round entrance
(2) the drawer/whatever to the left seems to have a handle, so it can be just opened
I think we don’t need to risk the Squirrel getting pecked on by coop’s inhabitants.
Below: everything you ever wanted to know about head sizes and were too afraid to ask your parents!
If a PC performs the action, it prevents him from performing another action. The rat is just sitting around wasting its actions turn after turn.
I highly doubt the rat gets attacked as the coop is just a monster generator and is empty, and if it does so sue us, we have a moldy cheese to resurrect it.
Also, the corn-fed chickens need to be introduced to the corn knights, I bet they peck them to death in a round. Otherwise we need to use fire and make popcorn.
Ricky: Attack the corn knight who has the spear
Mac: Attack the corn knight who has the spear
Lohk: First drop an onion, then use Ray of Frost on the corn knight who has the spear.
Kamau: Interpose
Daisy: Attack the corn knight who has the spear
Molly: Do what you do. This isn’t your battle.
Squirrel: Be a hat lump.
Explanation: This gives us 15 damage, which is definitely enough to kill a corn knight, without risking breaking the torch or using Squirrel’s cheese. We’re dropping Lohk’s onion to have Kamau (or someone) pick it up later, so that we have 1 max stack instead of wasting everyone’s inventory space.
That only deals 14. Ricki and Maca deal 5 each and Lohk and Daisy deal 2 Each.
Immediate Edit: Maca has 6 Attack. I guess I was thinking he still had 5 because of being amazed by the 5 Attack weapon and forgetting the new Ring of Aggression.
We can prob trade corn for eggs at coop. Maybe something extra. Should try later
Kamau: move up ladder and interpose on knights.
Ricki, Lhok, Mac and Daisy: attack spear holding knight. Lhok use your torch
We should be able to get enough damage without risking breaking the torch.
I think we need to save one of Corn Spears and try to feed it to the Coop.
So no smiffing with Mac.
Why use a corn spear, if we have corn (see in Molly’s inventory) and hope to get another corn by defeating a corn knight?
“corn” not denoting the spear here meaning “corn cob”.
The navigation buttons are missing from this page.
Not for me, but I’m writing this 2hrs later.
They’re there now.
If others’ calculations are correct a full party commitment to fighting the corn knights would lead to the corn knights’ defeat
but risk attracting the rats’ and squirrels’ attention. Nonetheless I’m inclined to agree that a full assault is the better option than having one or two small party members/pets investigate the coop, as the party will have to climb the barn and fight the rodents immediately afterward anyway. If one of the corn knights drops a corn cob, have Macadamia pick it up since he’s currently the only party member in this dungeon with an empty item slot. He can climb downafter the second floor is clearedand add it to the stack of corn cobs in Daisy’s pack.EDIT: I failed to notice the wall between the corn knights and the squirrels, disregard the struck-through text. The same analysis applies regardless, given the flying potato (?) monster on the third floor stands between us and the balcony.
According to the current plan, Lohk is dropping her onion for someone later picking it up and adding it to some stack of onions. Thus Lohk as well as Macadamia have a free item slot. Macadamia could use his item slot to pick up the corn spear and smif it (some turns into the future). Also Ricki would be able to pick up a corn cob, because she could place it into the stack of corn cobs in Molly’s bags (without the need to have a free inventory slot herself).
