Dungeon 7 Turn 13
————
While Ricki, Kamau, and Lohk pull up three more onions, Macadamia gives his to the giant pumpkin, who promptly munches it down.
“There you go. So we can pass now, right?”
“Yes, of course! You may pass! All of you may pass!”
“…Once.”
“I’m guessing we need to give you another vegetable if we want to pass again?”
“Yes indeed. Feed me more!!”
The entire party hurries past the pumpkin before its “generosity” runs out.
The inside of the barn is dark, but Kamau and Molly are the only ones who seem to be impeded by that. The most obvious feature on display here is what appears to be a large chicken coop, but of course Ricki can see more than that. Of particular note is the metal beam that the hay bale is hanging off of seems to extend through this entire room, and into the next one as well.
Plan: Clear path to other rooms to get a complete picture of what options and obstacles we have left here (and find more chests!)
Kamau: Move up ladder and interpose on corn knights
Ricki, Lhok, Mac, & Daisy: move up and attack Spear holding Knight. (use a torch Lohk)
That’s 15+ Damage which should be enough to one-shot it (including the penalty). These are the Mightiest guys we’ve met so far so we need to clear them sooner rather than later.
I do want to deal with Coop after the Knights so that we can send someone to explore while the others deal with Chickens.
If we deal with Coop first we’ll be wasting a few actions cause it’ll be overkill.
After turn 20 Daisy can no longer one shot a chicken so we should be aware of that.
Are we sure we can explore while the potato is in the way? Probably gotta kill the knights and interpose the potato to explore, meanwhile we could be building up chickens.
FEED ME SEYMOUR!
(to you kids today, I regret you don’t know the reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CusCp40Q0o4)
The coop will likely supply the rooster with extra chickens over time, they will likely zerg us on exiting the barn or make us unable to access coop/note.
Kamau: interpose.
Daisy, Lohk, Maca: attack chickens and rooster.
Ricki: read note, grab any dropped eggs and put them into Molly’s packs.
Reminder that last dungeon, we suffered from not reading notes ASAP.
I assume it’s one chiken (hen) every 5 turns + Started with Rooster.
So if we kill Knights first we will have Rooster + 3 hens. imo doable.
I’m with randomguypi: real winners quit, let’s dip!
That’s not an option when we’re not outside, so we can’t do that until we leave the barn.
I just noticed that the ceiling is ODD, all the way to the hay-box. It’s not black as the normal dungeon walls, it’s gray. Take a look at the ladder in the now-revealed room. It’s like, blocked by this gray slab of ceiling? I wonder, wtf.EDIT: now after really reading the room description, I wonder, maybe that hay-box can be freely slided on that metal rail, and maybe something in the next room needs it?
EDIT: another random observation: it would be reeally cool if the bull were chasing us and trampled the pumpkin in the process 😀
rtfm 😉 Last line of LSN’s text below the second image: “Of particular note is the metal beam that the hay bale is hanging off of seems to extend through this entire room, and into the next one as well.”
yup. totally I should rtfm! I basically wrote it while looking at the ‘previous’ image, having no time to really read it whole, and now I’ve just came back, read it all, and facepalm’ed.
Kamau: Interpose for the group.
Lohk: Read that note by the chicken coop.
Ricki: Kill a chicken. Pick up any eggs that drop that you can store on Molly with the other eggs.
Macadamia: Kill the rooster.
Daisy: Chomp the last chicken that Ricki didn’t target.
Let’s take care of the chickens first, just in case that coop spawns em. Next turn we can start on the corn soldiers.
I don’t think the coop spawns chickens – chickens drop important loot for this dungeon, and that would let us simply farm it.
(1) I think one of our little guys with dark-vision could take a peek inside (probably risking getting pecked on!).
(2) On the left side of that coop there’s some kind of a door or drawer. It looks openable. I think we should try and see what’s behind or inside.
Does “reading” take up an action? If not, then Lohk could do one of those things this turn?
I was wary of chickens having a dodge chance after the T2 mention of surprising difficulty finding a target, but we haven’t actually seen a single missed attack.
Apparently they do have a dodge chance, we’ve just been lucky with dodge and unlucky with loot drops according to LSN in discord.
In case you missed it so far: LSN did a streaming session on Sunday in which he drew/introduced 2 new until now “secret” characters, Sue and Cordy for dungeon eyes. One of which we will be able to pick soon (LSN will make a poll for that), because a goal on KoFi was reached recently.
If you want to, check out the stream on twitch. Since LSN didn’t explicitly ask to keep what was talked about in there a secret, I am taking the liberty to post a summary:
They will both get a prologue, but NO bond levels with Ricki and therefore no (back ground) story/plot progression.
According to LSN they will both be very strong (so much so, that LSN said that using them will be similar to “cheating”), very helpful characters and not very dependant on items (because most items will not fit them). Sue is a support character and more “meta based” whatever that means, and Cordy is more about pets and poison damage. Also Cordy is supposed to help wit the mansion.
Also mentioned in the stream (LSN talked about stuff that will likely happen in 2023): around the end of January, LSN will publish a new download (costing real money, but not much) about the “last ditch dungeon”, which is one of the forum games he started out with, before creating “will dave world for gold” and “dungeon eyes”.
And the “draw sexy pic of Lara in Batwing armour” goal is close to getting met as well, according to LSN.
And LSN also announced that the WSWFG books will have new pages (7 new pages with Odivallius that take place before the main comic were mentioned)
BWERPG streams may be an option. (possibly during summer 2023).
And LSN might look into publishing stuff on youtube more, because he can archive stuff there longer than on twitch, to keep it available for people longer, but it is a lot more work.
(I originally posted this on on the D7 T 12 page, because most people might not look at that page anymore at this point in time, I repeated it here. If this (or me posting details about the stream in the first place is an issue, please let me know LSN and/or just errase the post. 🙂 )
To be clear, he said that Sue could use most or all items, but wouldn’t depend on them. Cordy won’t be able to wear most items though due to his body type.
Ooooooh, there is a puzzle chest. The colour seems to match the fur of the squirrels, but not exactly (I used the eye-dropper tool, and it’s not the same hue). Maybe it will be the bull’s fur colour?
I’m also curious what the writing next to the coop will say, I hope we’ll get a chance to read it.
Watch out next time we step outside. The bull may be waiting. When the party decides to leave, it may be a good idea to go immediately and not hang around.
I that case, we can peek what’s outside through the opening near the hay-bale. We could probably even shoot down from there. But gotta be careful about the spaghetti-monster.
