Dungeon 6 Turn 29
————
Ricki joins Lara on her way up to the living room, leaving the final bat alive for now. Together they battle the giant scorpion.
It immediately lands a strike on Lara, dealing 2 damage to her even through all her armour. Ricki takes that personally and severs its tail with the oxidicer, breaking it again in the process. Lara then finishes the creature off with a heavy blow from her pick. The scorpion is dead.
After picking up the keys and the candy from the entrance room, Lohk and Macadamia wait in the room below for the battle to die down. Also Macadamia took a quick look and confirmed that there was nothing written on the back of the note pinned to the wall.
We’ve got a new axe! Perhaps that was the effect from pushing the bookcase? It seems like it was behind the couch before, since that has ALSO shifted to the left.
Hopefully, it is one handed since Ricki’s weapon broke again. I think that we still have a rusty item in the stash at the moment though.
Ricki: Rush past Lara and head upstairs to use your lens with the encyclopedia on the big bat in the tower room.
Macadamia: Rush upstairs, dropping your pile of candy by the ladder up to the tower on your way. Once in the tower, talk to the pet master. Ask him what his deal is, and whether or not we can go past him and his super cool bat to grab those keys and unlock that chest. (We already know his deal obviously but maybe he’d think it was sus if we understood immediately without talking).
Lohk: Rush upstairs past Lara and join Macadamia near the pet master. If Macadamia confirms with the Pet Master that we can walk by him to grab the keys/open the chest, then go grab those keys. Otherwise, return downstairs and break the dog skeleton on the upper level, right of where the axe/couch were/are.
Lara: Head to the left by the chest while everybody else runs by you upstairs, then go grab the new battle axe. Stay to the left and below everybody else as much as you can.
Explanation:
This gets us info on the bat and should keep Lara closest to the tomb at basically all times. Assuming the specter doesn’t have to use ladders that should insure Lara gets targeted if we’re right about the way it works. Having Mac drop the candy means it’ll be available to be eaten by Lara this next turn if we end up needing it based on the stats of the bat.
Ricki: Go up and use the Encyclopedia and Lens on the Giant Bat.
Lara: Pick up the Giant Axe and knock the keys down if you can.
Maca: Go up and ask the Pokemon Trainer about himself, Pokemon Battles, and possible rewards.
Lohk: Go up and unlock the door.
Explanation:
Enemies don’t attack the turn they see us for the first time, so Lohk unlocking the door should be safe. I’m pretty sure most of us want to use the Lens on the Giant Bat, and I’d feel safer getting info than not getting it.
Keeping Lara below everyone else is because it’s Turn 30 and there’s a theory that whoever’s closest to the tomb gets attacked.
I wouldn’t worry about knocking down the keys. They’re above a chest so somebody else can reach them easily using the chest as a ledge if they’re short.
This plan is pretty close to my own, so obviously I like a lot of it. The only bit I’m not sure about is having Lohk unlock the door this turn. It is probably true that she won’t get attacked, but we also don’t yet know what the bat ogre DOES. If it buffs/can wake up its fellow bats, we’ll be in trouble if it gets to do that when the door is opened, rather than simply when we attack it. I’d rather wait to open the door the turn we’re planning on attacking (or at least have the option to do things this way) so we can try to guarantee having the option to rush the wolf spider in to take the attacks from roosted bats if necessary. Once the bats wake up it’s anyone’s guess who they’ll attack, which could be disastrous.
