Dungeon 5 Turn 25
————
Kamau drops all his metal gear (except his hilt), picks up all the rusty gear, and descends the ladder. He dumps all the rusty equipment on the ground, much to the bug’s delight. He and Ricki then walk past it without a problem while it gnoshes on the plate armour. Kamau takes the shield and all the stuff Ricki is holding, then boosts her up to the chest above. She finds only one item inside, but a purse IS a pretty useful thing to have.
Ricki and Kamau head back up the ladder.
After Lara pulls the lever once more (the spider isn’t smart enough to do it), she rejoins Ricki and Kamau in a room full of discarded treasure.
βHey, didn’t you say there were traps in here? Where were they again?β
βDon’t worry about it! Kamau disarmed the trap, these floor triggers don’t do anything now! See?β
βSometimes those things explode, you know.β
βOh. Well, not this time!β

PURSE
Tool
Can hold 3 Enc worth of Gold Coins only.
Weight 1, Cost 5
Oooooo. That’s a nice purse. I wonder if a full purse of 3 stacks adds to ricki’s comforting weight ability. If it does, it’s a 1 enc 3 def for ricki
We are 100% keeping it.
It does, confimed by LSN on Discord, added to mechanics page
Absolutely awesome. A few more and she’ll be able to replace Kamau for tanking xD Just joking. Don’t.
It’s very nice but very expensive. Definitely makes comforting weight more attractive!
Ricki: Grab Ball and Doll. Run to Doll Mommy and tell her to give it to kida as she runs home. Tell her to go quick since you totally overhear bad guys talking about their friends comming back in 4 turns. Ask kids to leave the ball in corridor. Hopefully one of gang members will take it with them.
Kamau: Equip your stuff back and interpose Animal Gang
Lara and Spider: Each attacks different Rat.
We seriously need to send the kid running now OR waste multiple turns to run there ourself, then fight them all and then waste time comming back only to realise we need to run back again. Facing Gangs at the entrance is not practicall.
If the gangs don’t find us at entrance, they’ll likely search the houses and possibly find the entrance to the kobold’s mining operation in the closet, get angry and kill kobolds.
break break break? (why does formating changes after it’s posted π )
Turn 1
Why would the gangs suddenly change their behavior?
Because a new factor came in, which is us. They’re looking for us.
So they pop in to say hi and ask “Have you seen that band of freaks?”
and then Kobolds say “Yes, they went further into the Dungeon”
and then the Gang moves on.
I think this line in the goals is making people assume it won’t go that well.
Secondary Goal: Donβt allow any kobolds to be killed.
The secondary goal of the dungeon is to not let any kobolds die, which implies that they might be targets for the gangs now
Kamau: push the safe to the ladder that runs down to the rust monster and let it fall down the hole there. Should fall straight through to the rust monster who can eat it. If this is impossible, I guess don’t bother and instead pick up a longsword and help with rats.
Lara: Pick up and wear the plate armor, then use the rat fang and shield to go attack the rat on the chest so Ricki can access it.
Spider: Attack a different rat from Lara.
Ricki: Take back your wolf armor and the extra shield from Kamau then wear them. Add the 20 gold on the ground to the purse then drop the purse. Pick up a thieves tool and then go unlock and loot the chest the rat was on. Move to the right one, drop your thieves tool if is still in inventory and pick up the ball, then move down one to end the turn at the smiffery.
Shouldn’t kamau move with the safe if it falls?
Master plan requires Kamau to be able to move from red base on turn 27. There are some weird variables depending on whether the rust monster eats items in order or by size, but the long and short of it is that I hope to have Lara check on the safe turn 27. We know from the red gang that the rust monster rusts items before he eats them, so the safe shouldn’t break this turn unless the fall itself destroys it. Having no eyes on it this turn is safe. I also don’t know that moving the safe can be done with just an action and not a movement too. It required both before but that might have just been because of the screen transition.
Can ricki open and then loot and move in the same turn?
Unlocking and looting a guarded chest is one action per the locked rat, king chest in last dungeon. Ricki looted a chest and left the room this turn.
Only issue: With Wolf hide armor (2), shield (1) and thieves tools (1), Ricki has only 1 inventory space left (if she doesn’t discard the tools after using them). A ring would take up 0 space, but we might find something else (two things with 1 space requirement each, or one thing requiring two spaces). Well, we want neither to annoy LSN with another “if tools kept and inventory space an issue, leave tools there”, nor do we want to risk the post to vanish due to too much editing, so keep it as it is, please! For Kamau looting the crow chest (later!), just give him all the necessary defense items but don’t waste inventory. For example, currently he carries two shields, which is like this because he picked up the second one from next to the rust animal, which was good looting. We can pick up stuff “stored” in the former Reds’ base for free, but getting stuff from the crow chest in a second run would take an additional turn (and maybe additional damage). And the gang might even use that stuff from the chest, if they are intelligent – crow and crossbow wielder seem to have same intelligence. (Sorry for the wall of text.)
Yeah this is a concern for me too. Unfortunately 1 space is the max I can give Ricki and still have 6 defense.
And what if the owl bear (and maybe monkey) attacks girls? Kamau will get remorse points (possibly abandon the dungeon). Who can guarantee that they won’t attack?
So I think Kamau have to interpose (leave the safe along) if others go to the top floor.
A rant:
I’m really worried about the time here. Goons are coming back in 5 turns and we need to be there when they show up.
We need to deliever the kids toys, get the dog, pick up all the needed and useful items from the floor (we were warned about the thugs stealing our stuff).
I’d be much more confortable if we could pick up the greatsword, the potions and the wanted poster before the battle. Considering how fast we went through the gangs, I think we will have enough time to get to the animal gang soon enough.
All this micromanagement of items is getting on me.
Lets us get those kids to safety and get rid of the crap we are carrying.
It’s a Lot tighter than anyone would like yeah. But the gamble is either the safe or the rat chest has the blue ring. Likely the rat chest. If we have a chance of getting Mac on the turn down with Ricky’s dash it might be worth it.
I have no head for the constant inventory switches myself so I just let other people handle it.
I hate the micromanagement of items too but there’s no way around it at the moment. We are tight on time currently but not in danger of not making it to the entrance and turning in our two quests. All of this effort is in service of trying to get macadamia which is the only thing that will give us more inventory space. Ricki will be able to turn in the ball on turn 27 following my suggestion above. Kamau will have the doll in hand and be at the blue base turn 27 in the worst case scenario. That would let him turn in the doll and still get to the entrance by turn 29
The comment of Thisnameismeta has Ricki at the smiffery at the end of turn, carrying the cool ball, delivering it in the turn afterwards (if everything happens so). Without Holy Hand Granade and Bag of Holding (except for gold) micromanagement is necessary.
LSN, will Rusty finally be our pet? π
Considering we’d be spending 1 metal item per turn to manage its movement (drop item = hold position, throw item = move), 0 items to attack random metal-holding person in the room/floor, it sounds like fun, but still pretty expensive fun.
Oooooh, I kind of want to tame the Rust-creature and have it as a pet. It seems big enough that Ricki (or even Kamau) could ride it and it would be super useful against better equipped enemies.
But I am afraid that this would also mean we can’t have any metal items (and I think thieves tools would also count), so that’s most likely not feasible.
I will say that if we are going to keep going for it. Then we have to send someone to hold the entrance while we keep looking in the dungeon.
Secondary Goal: Donβt allow any kobolds to be killed.
The fact that they put this in means it can happen, and they are willing to do it if we fuck about, so we got to make that choice on what’s important. We can get the dog, finish the dolly mission and give the kids back their ball, and get out. So we have to make a choice is getting the macadamia more important than succeeding on the second objective? If we don’t mind risking getting the kobolds killed we can go for it, if we are trying not to do that we have to turn things in.
We try to “get the dog, finish the dolly mission and give the kids back
their ball” as well as “getting the macadamia”, “succeeding on the second objective”, feeding the hungry rust animal, taking some loot, and having fun – all in 1 dungeon!
With that plan we will be unable to do anything more in dungeon.
Without Kamau we can’t fight anyone and he is the only one that can hold front line.
Running back and forth between entrance and bases is 8 turns (4 in one direction) not counting any combat we will need to do.
If we go to entrance it’s the same as giving up this dungeon.
without 4th party member recruted.
We might be able to sent Ricki back to tame the dog and finally get a pet. That’s it.
Unless the hope is to wait out 50 turns, beat all new enemies, and hope DM did not include soft cap on how much we can spend in this one?
