Dungeon 17 Turn 4
————

Ricki climbs the nearby ladder and quickly flips through the green-covered books on the shelf. The two flying books attack her, but she dodges one laserbeam and tanks the second, taking no damage.
The books again crumble rapidly to dust, but although the language in these books is still archaic, she can actually mostly make sense of it! The tomes and scrolls read (in summary) as follows:
“At the direction of the Glorious One the full tribe has retreated to the deepest levels. This Emperor may be an enemy more dangerous than the rival dragons we are accustomed to. Hopefully one day we will be able to emerge again, but for now we can only endure the Dungeon’s magics and hope.”
These seem to be records written by the kobolds that once lived here! This is exactly the kind of thing she was hoping to find! Although, these passages don’t seem to reveal anything very helpful. However, now that Ricki has a little bit of practice reading these writings, she can probably understand some more difficult ones elsewhere. She’d better keep looking!
Ricki has gained the Well Read I ability.
Ricki then guides Macadamia over another trap and into the next room.

Macadamia decides to smif his midas gloves into a ring. He only learned this particular technique recently and has been itching to try it out. The result is fairly impressive.

RING OF AMBITION, GOLD
Ring
All attacks have a 20% chance to deal +6 damage. Multiple similar rings increase the chance and the damage.
Weight 1, Cost 30

Ok. Green is a go. I’d like to focus on Mac getting Well Read over Ricki.
Shelved books are: 2 Green, 2 Red, 2 Blue. If we get the Red/Blue order wrong or wake up any of these books we cant max both Characters.
I think red is hardest? Like, red often linked to danger or difficulty in video games
Plan: Feed the worm
Ricki: throw the ENCYCYLOPEDIA at the bookworm to distract it. Point out the trapdoor to Mac and avoid it. Move down and stand by the Skeletons.
Mac: Avoid the trap door and go read the green book.
This gets mac to Well Read I so he can start ranged attacking any green books for scrolls. We can also get a blue Book in the room below shortly after.
Ideally we can use the scrolls the flying books drop to distract the worms so we can read and run.
lens said grimoirns focus magic weapons and rings over paper. I don’t think we can distract it with paper when mac got shocktail and rings.
It gets a bonus vs paper carriers and disenchants rings and weapons. The actual flavor text says it just devours magic from “Certain items” I think it would definitely go for a magic book or scroll.
Looks like paper is secondary to me? Not sure the pedia is even magic anyways
Btw can’t Mac attack green flying books already? Lens description says the flying books can be defeated by anyone who can read them and we just read a green book.
Turn 1 said the green flying book MIGHT(aka it is possible we can read them) be too hard to read and that we didn’t know how hard actually. Like, if all flying books needed well read 1+, then it would just say IS too hard to read cuz we wouldn’t be able to read it back then even if it was the easiest.
Ricki Read the green book, not Mac. I’d like Mac to get green at least if not all of them.
On the Worm discussion, Worm does 6, and skellies each do 2, so even if they attack Mac, thats only 1-2 dmg on Mac and we can heal.
No I mean green flying book can be defeated with well read 0 cuz it says flying books can be attacked by anyone who CAN read them and we CAN read green books(without well read 1).
On worm, I dont wanna risk best enchant on shocktail to get eaten >.<
That’s a good point on attacking green books.
Still feel there’s little or no risk. There’s a good chance we’ll get a few scrolls to re enchant anyway. Really just want to use the book cause we prob aren’t keeping it
daang missed the start.>.<
Hey I saw a upvoted comment on last turn about being worried fighting will wake books but didnt we have combat since turn 1?
Books have attacked us for sure but I’m not convinced bookworms or Skeletons wont make more noise. We probably wont have much of a choice though
Oh wow, that ring is powerful
imagine wearing two of them
imagine the bosses from now on if we can simply manufacture such items
I think we should kill a green book and then check if the red door changed like the manor door when it was still haunted(not as a turn just as a thing to include on a future turn)
