Dungeon 14 Turn 62
————

Kamau pulls out the shocktail javelin, pours holy water on it, and uses it to impale the tyrant lizard, killing it, but taking 3 unblockable damage in the process. The lizard’s death cries echo through the dungeon. Kamau picks up another tyrant fang.

Ricki attempts to peek at what the beautiful dwarven maiden carries upon her person, but is unable to see through her diary’s leaden cover.

Macadamia throws a spare rope down the bottom floor as part of a half-baked plan to escape certain death.

Botanya blows into and blows up another tyrant horn, which results in close proximity dungeon remodelling. She flees to the right after.
Plan: omelette or take out.
Kamau: pick up/smash as many eggs as you can. Drop the bolts and the black robe to make space if need be. Move right, up rope, and right again with your sugar rush.
Ricki: climb down rope. Move left and decide if you want to break or steal the eggs. Pickup as many eggs as you can. Drop the holy robe and your silver ring and equip your gold one if you need space. Move right, up rope and right again after.
Mac and Botania: stay put and pray
Should we not have people move that far in case it takes one action per egg? If we successfully empty the nest moves shouldn’t matter, and if we don’t we’ll need to be close enough to finish.
We just move back next turn of that’s the case.
Plan: Just in case each egg takes an action. (Mostly stolen from Claudious)
Kamau: Steal or smash as many eggs as you can. Drop the bolts and the black robe to make space if you need space. Move right and up the rope.
Ricki: Climb down rope. Move left and steal or destroy as many eggs as you can. Drop the holy robe and your silver ring and equip your gold one if you need space. Move right and up rope.
Mac: Tie the rope to the ladder adjacent to the the second floor, in case you need to make an exit route again. End turn on the top level, just in case.
Botanya: Go down the ladder and to the left, join up with Ricki and Kamau. You might be needed for nest raiding.
Do we have any means of making a fire left? There are 7 eggs, if it takes an action to break one, that’s hell lot of turns.
Do we have any fire left: No. We threw our torch to set off the bomb, and there aren’t any other torches in the dungeon.
7 eggs means a lot of turns: First, we don’t know how many actions it will take. It might be one action and Kamau will finish it here.
Even if it does take 7 actions, we’ll get 2 of those actions next turn, and we’re set up for 3 each on the two subsequent turns, so a total of 3 more turns even if there’s an extra egg hidden in there. Mac can toot his horn next turn if Mommy starts heading back down to the party.
Let’s give the eggs back to the tyrant king. I’m sure he’ll be very grateful and give us a ride home.
Unfortunately:
Read the poster’s name. This is his gimmick.
I know, but, for example, we did not kill the Mammoth and this was well. Here the eggs were kept from the mother, so, exception to the rule, the idea to give back the eggs is not a bad decision per se. Unfortunately, we cannot do that, because we have to do certain things to finish the dungeon. Thus I thought an explanation was in order, why this is not feasible (in contrast to bad decisions which are very obvious).
Just loose thinking – yeah, D7T0 didn’t say ‘defeat the bull(mammoth)’, buuutt… “defeat the tyrant king” doesn’t mean “kill” specifically either. If we make it somehow yield, resign from chase, forcefully immobilize or imprison, or damn, make it friendly – I’d consider it done, just not in “defeated in combat”.
Shouldn’t Mac blow the horn now to stop King from going to the nest?
Mac has run out of protective layers of flooring. While we’ve previously been safe standing off to the side as a floor breaks, that has never been tried with the character standing off to the side being the one to blow the horn. If we try it and Mac gets hurt, Kamau ditches us.
Botonya should be in a good position for horn blowing, but I think she has no horn and getting one will take her whole turn. She might be able to stall the king next turn.
Next turn King will either go for Mac, making the horn irrelevant, or head towards Ricki and Kamau, moving far enough away from Mac that he can blow the horn and she shouldn’t be able to get him (hopefully)
Or, if the king resumes her patrol pattern, she’ll go check the entrance chamber first and only then start heading toward the nest, ending her turn below where the tortoise used to be. That would be ideal, since in that scenario she wouldn’t reach the nest until T65, even without any more hornblowing.
