Dungeon 14 Turn 22
————
Botanya leads the kobolds to the upper level, then leaves them behind as she proceeds to the shopping room.
Ricki and Macadamia engage in trade with the mysterious merchant Paws. Together they sell one of the tyrant horns, twelve copper rings, two heavy picks, and three crossbows. They buy three sets of thieves’ tools, a wand of heal, and a coil of rope. Ricki takes the tools for future acts of benign larceny, and the other items are dropped on the floor, along with Ricki’s atlatl and Botanya’s holy dragon robe. After this exchange thirty-four gold coins remain, ten of which Ricki keeps, and the rest of which Macadamia holds on to for now.
Kamau drops his spare ring, picks up the corona, the remaining potion of greater healing, and the steak, then prepares to make his way back to the entrance…
When suddenly the air is split by a tremendous roar!
Kamau creeps ahead into the entrance room to confirm exactly what they’re dealing with. From the sound of heavy footfalls through the ceiling, he’s pretty sure he knows. He takes a quick peek through the ladder shaft…
Yep, it’s the big one. It must have heard all those horns earlier and come running sooner than expected.
It seems to have detected a foreign scent, or possibly the smell of blood from all the fighting that’s been going on. Regardless, it’s probably not going to leave again for some time. Looks like this is part of the dungeon now.
Wruh ph. That was a close one. Guess those horns each shaved 2 turns off the return timer
Poos. So soon. Hopefully we can stay in the dungeon a little while longer after killing the tyrant. I bet the egg nest can be raided for a baby tyrant pet
I think completing goal ends the dungeon instantly even if we wanna stay a bit. But maybe we can do both if we time it right?
Plan: move the lizard
Botania: move left and lens king from as far as you can.
Kamau: drink your potion of healing
Ricki: move right. Move kobolds left. Move with them
Mac: drop all your gold and the shock tail in the pile. Pick up all 4 sets of rings (4 different types, 12 total), 1 horn, holy robe, spear and heavy shield and both regular shields. Move left. Move down after.
Mac is full of things to sell, but will move down to blow horn to lure king away. Once hea gone Ricki and kamau will engage ambush.
Botania is using her lens since this will probably be the last chance for her to use one safely. Ricki can use hers through walls so we don’t in have to trade them later.
I’m afraid that luring D-Rex further into the dungeon with the horn might allow the first rider to tag along.
Again, I know King has no collar. It might even attack the death cultists.
Should we maybe lens it now, and only call it away when the kobolds are ready to leave?
If King doesn’t move then we can decide to blow horn or not next turn.
King is probably going to move on its own regardless. So let’s see if he will engage the kobolds and how far it moves each turn
Also, we have no where else to go unless we use the prisoner drop as an exit. And that’s a pretty big detour through another ambush.
As long as we have a horn, maybe we can probably make him move away. Or maybe the horn was just a gimmick and if we blew it, the big one would just came sooner.
Anyways, it’s so big, I think we can safely assume it won’t walk up/down the ladders after us and has to move only along the wide/tall passage. Still, the ONLY way up we know so far is right at his nose, and then, if we get away from it, then right into the kobold’s ambush..
I think we have two options now, aside from casing Paws and trading while he’s still here and
0) mandatory without any question, LENS the Tyrant to learn how screwed we are if we try to attack it 🙂
but then, how about:
1) try to go down, pull the lever, see if/how the floor opens, try to attach the rope and go right and clear that ambush, and count that the room further to the right provides us some options for further exploration upwards
2) spread our people across the topmost three rooms, but on the bottom, so they are safe from the big guy, then in the room UNDER the top-most ambush (the one with centipedes) blow the horn, and see how what the Tyrant reacts. If we are “lucky”, the horn might lure him towards the ambushers, and … well … either it is hungry and they will be tasty, or they will runaway, or Tyrant will just ignore the horn, or something otherwise crazy, like stomping the floor and falling a level below (he’s big and heavy, right?)
Lens for sure.
We will have to pay close attention to see if King will patrol on his own. Or if he stays at the last spot he moved to. I’m guessing he patrols since it would be too easy to lure him somewhere otherwise.
The echo call from the baby is probably a good way to get him away.
I would also like to know how fast his movement is. Sounds of battle may also lure him
Ok Ricki you blew it last time but this time you can really show Sue how tough you are and solo the big mf
Claudious’ plan with small improvements
Escorting kobolds is not an action so trying the case now.
To answer Jing from last page: The point is that case give us item entries with their full description if we don’t have them already and Paw’s Packs page only tell us names so theres a lot of stuff we don’t know what they do yet.
I heard from Sick last page we are not selling the silver rings right now so we can pick them up later. Instead Mac keep a stack of gold for the next shopping turn and grab the sword we wanna sell for sure too.
Botania: move left and lens king from as far as you can.
Kamau: drink your potion of healing
Ricki: move right. Move kobolds left with kobolds. Case Paws.
Mac: drop 4 gold and the shock tail in the pile. Pick up sword, bronze rings, 1 horn, holy robe, spear and heavy shield and both regular shields. Move left. Move down after.
