Dungeon 13 Turn 51
————
Ricki stops briefly at the central room, thinking the elemental heart she carries might be of some use, but the creature she heard wasn’t there. She can hear the repeated sound of stone and glass breaking from the rightmost room, though.
For now she climbs the ladder.
Lara, Cordy, and Amadeusz swap a bunch of items around, then Lara and Amadeusz head back down into the dungeon. Amadeusz only reaches the bottom left room, while Lara proceeds to the bottom middle. Neither room is different from the last time they saw it.
Cordy remains in the hallway under the entrance. Nothing is different here either, as far as they know.
We’re a bit out of sorts. Ricki will get spotted by patrol if she goes to tank room (and probably get debuffed)
Lara and amad are out of range to be of any help…
Not sure how long we want to wait here…
Plan: focus on recruiting new char and finishing dungeon.
Patrol str is 6 + justicar debuff so we can totally clear out the justicar (who provides light) and make things safer for us. Still a danger to Ricki though…
It takes 17 DMG to take out those guards so we need everyone to gang up.
We still don’t know what happens when we use heart so let’s keep our options open by keeping the party within striking distance.
Ricki: move down but stay at the top level, out of sight. Case the justicar when he comes in.
Amad: move up enchant spear with death touch
Cordy: move right and wait out of sight.
Lara: move left and up back to below entrance with amad.
Maybe It would bê a good Idea for Lara to eat a mushroom
Not a bad idea but I think we’ll need it more as an attacker/buffer since Lara has good def now
It’s providing 1 def so better to keep it, unless we have a new one coming up
She’ll lose a defense if she do that tho so I dont think it’s a net plus.
That’s actually a net loss, since recovering 1 Hp lost in combat needs special healing, and recovering 1 Def used up in combat is automatic.
As long as there’s no danger of unblockable damage killing the character, reusable Def is always better than Hp, at least when compared point-for-point.
Eating little mushies has any sense only against unblockable damage, or if we can easily generate a surplus of mushies, which for now, we can’t (unless we go after some doggies/scientists/etc, but IMHO, no time for that)
Maybe Lara should eat a mushroom in order to recover from 1 heart to half hp
Rough future plan:
Amad, Lara and cordy engage justicar in central chamber so we can keep that room dark and avoid debuffs. Ricki uses heart
Then we should have a better idea what we need to do for new char and if we have time to run and get loot
Your comment below about heart weakening him is making me paranoid new friend will die if we do this. Like, the entire patrol still get to attack him that turn even if we beat up justiciar on the same turn. >.<
I think we should wait for a guard or two to be down first so its safe for new friend leave super hulk mode.
Incoming damage is only 8 or so which would be survivable for most things. I don’t think LSN would have us lose them so easily without at least a turn to act
How do you get 8?
3 per sword guards and justiciar beam is like 5-6. And 2 more if a guard was buffed and another 2 if he was debuffed
Thats like 16 total
Guard is not buffed yet, they just came in.
I still doubt 11 DMG could one shot new friend
We don’t need to use heart if that’s a big concern but we do need take out some guards so that t55 patrol doesn’t join them and make it dangerous for us to even run by. Lara and Ricki are apart so roof walking is not an option right now
But we DO need the use heart or angry friend can kill us. The goal basically describe him as a walking catastrophe, there no way he cant beat this one patrol in hulk mode.
We need to use the heart asap.
We dont know if the heart will revert him back to human sized or weaken him or if we can recruit him while he’s fighting a patrol. We should not be trying to anything else but recruit him right now. We are so close but we need to use heart so we at least have a better idea after
Wait if the heart weakens him back to human size then we cant use it before patrol is down cuz patrol can kill him on that turn. Like, he’d just be a normal PC but with no armor and maybe low hp.
And we cant join the fight before we use the heart cuz we can get killed if hit by both patrol and hulk mode friend.
I’m pretty sure using heart activates that round. Like how using meat distracts a dog immediately.
The next turn plan is having everyone but Ricki engage patrol and Ricki use heart at range on elemental. Even if elemental engages patrol still, it won’t go for us
Ye I meant we are in danger only if we dont heart. But my worry is that if heart weaken him as you brought up, he is the one in danger if patrol still up and attacking when we heart
I don’t think so. I think the patrol will prioritize us, or specifically, Ricky, if they notice us/her. Remember the posters and Judicar’s shouts? That’s heeeeer and so on. Docile’d human-like elementalist will be of less priority, especially considering that’s a valuable asset that they would like to recover (since it’s docile’d, assuming we succeed in that).
Also, I REALLY doubt that the Heart will cause a change-in-form. It specifically makes it “permanently” docile, but also – partially. It specifically says “It will still attack other creatures as normal.”. It will need its form to attack other creatures, right?
There’s a small catch possible here. What ‘other creatures’? If Ricky casts it, will it be docile-versus-Goblins? So there’s quite a chance that it will attack the guards. And Lara.
Or maybe it means docile-vs-all-humanoids, including all our party members, including guards, and it will continue to attack doggos only.
Actually, in the latter case, “all humanoids”, that’s would be a huge thing, and a nice design, as that would allow us to lead it outside the facility safely and it won’t attack guards outside, etc.
Think about it that way: if we cast the heart here, it’s safe-against-us, but it wrecks patrols’ asses, why would it NOT wreck the guards outside?
I think it’s safer to plan ahead with “all humanoids” option in mind..
Also #2, I still think that this elemental is summoned as a tool, and that the actual person is in the third room, and the person summoned the elemental to break out of the tank and clear the way. Anyways, using the heart on the elemental works in either case.
Please let’s concentrate or forces near the rooms with all the action. Time for looting is over
Plan to watch fight with Ricki ready to heart and run when it is safe
Ricki is in position to heart next turn if he oneshots patrol.
I’m paranoid about joining the fight because if we heart before patrol is down, he can die if it turns him back into a normal PC while patrol attacks him.
And if we dont heart him to make sure he stays OP until patrol is down, he can kill us if we enter the fight.
So Cordy on watch duty and others loots.
Edit: Amad enchant instead as Sick suggested to not risk him
Ricki: Move right. Grab death arrow. Move left.
Cordy: Move right so Ricki has dungeon eyes on the big fight
Lara: Equip armor. Move right to loot wand materials.
Amad: Move right. Enchant shocktail with deadly permanently
Ideas for next turns:
Cordy and Ricki on standby
Amad grab rope and meat in dragon room
Lara go to crow room, to loot chest there the turn after or check if crows quest was shiny ball
Solars may still go for amad who is also getting hit by a stalk/hulkroach. This may kill him.
Also, those wand materials are not lootable we already tried with Ricki earlier
This also puts the party out of position if we do need to act in central room. A new patrol is going to spawn in 4 turns and if we don’t whittle the patrol down then more are going to join in and make it VERY dangerous for us to even run by to escape let alone recruit new char
My point is that we CANT act in central room anyway.
Heart-ing angry friend can weaken him as you said, letting patrol kill him.
Not heart-ing him means he can kill US.
Look at the description of the new goal, there no way it would say that if it cant whittle down one patrol by itself.
Once he did that, then we can heart recruit and only Ricki can do it.
Risks Amad’s life for a single trapped chest. Would rather he just enchant the shocktail.
I changed things from my idea last turn to have him at full hp when doing this. That means he cant die even if Lara can only distract 1 sunhead and the other randomly target him and there is a hulkroach in the chest right?
Are you sure he can die? I can edit to enchant shocktail instead if you are.
It’s just assuming that Lara being in the area will cause at least 1 sunhead to attack her I dont like. I think the main reason we never wanted to engage with these guys is because we thought they’d be intelligent and focus fire a single target. I personally don’t think that, but it’s not worth risking imo.
If at least one attacks Lara, Amad and she are fine.
If both attack Amad, he’s getting hit for something like 18 damage plus whatever the Stalkroach hits for, which is likely instant death.
Oh ok if they could be intelligent better not risk it. I’ll edit.
Que’s comment last turn is making me paranoid that the real friend could still be in the tank room and this is just a summoned monster.
And the page on this turn mention STONE breaking, could it be its trying to smash the right wall instead of walking out the left entrance?
So this is a variant to check on stuff like that by having Ricki peek from above.
Ricki: Move right. Grab death arrow. Move down just to peek on what’s happening in tank room
Cordy: Move right so Ricki has dungeon eyes on the big fight
Lara: Equip armor. Annoy the sunhead group like you annoyed bats before to distract them from Amad(she has 15 def and heal for 3, sunheads do 18 total). Move right to wand materials.
Amad: Move right. Loot stalkroach chest, dropping meat then oven mits for space as needed. End turn on bottom floor.
New wisps have spawned here on turns 30 and 40. Since no one was there to move cannisters they could be loose and may be of death element which could kill Ricki if it hits.
We turned that lever off so there shouldn’t be any wisps. My mistake.
Right. Nevermind then.
There are 3 dogs in the room you’re sending Ricki to. Dogs have 4 Atk each so this potentially kills Ricki.
This plan is also pretty likely to kill Amadeusz.
Let’s work towards recruiting and leaving, not picking up scraps.
Oh forgot about the dogs ye.>.<
Looks like this is already being downvoted so we are fine but just in case: don’t upvote this plan guys.
Ok, Not knowing what happens when we use heart is really the dividing issue.
If we use it while it is fighting guards, it could weaken and kill our new friend.
If we wait, we risk t55 patrol joining t50 patrol which makes it very dangerous for Ricki to get to exit.
Solution: We use heart now before patrol meets elemental.
Cordy: Move Right and Drink the potion of holy resistance. Stand and move into the guards path as soon as they enter.
Ricki: Move Down. Move Right. Use heart on Escaped Elemental creature in Tank room.
Lara: Equip tower shield but not armor. Move left. Move up. Move right to central chamber. Move to join Cordy in the Patrol’s path and look as scary as possible.
Amad: Move up. Enchant Spear with permanent Death element.
The worst dmg patrol can do is 6 + Justicar beam of 4-5. Lara and Cordy can tank that with minimal dmg (1-2 dmg at most). If Justicar decides to buff of debuff, we’re even better since guards will have miss chance and its still only 1 dmg on cordy.
The downside is that no one is actually attacking so guards may just ignore Lara and Cordy to go after Ricki who is just moving by farther in the room. Even if they do, Ricki just needs to dodge 1 of them to be safe.
BTW, Justiciar’s beam is 6 damage, just like the Supreme Justiciar, based on the damage Ricki took from 1 Dog (2 Atk), 1 Sword Guard (3 Atk), and 1 Justiciar Beam (6 Atk) against her 7 defense and dealing 4 damage to her.
I think this makes sense but make plz edit so that Amad do the permanent enchant with 5hp, not the temp one.
Fixed. Thanks for the reminder. I forgot that there were 2 versions
I just hope LSN noticed that your plan started winning with Kat’s looting plan before posting new turn…
Engage patrol next turn, spend this turn preparing. We have a turn of leeway before patrol reaches new friend, so we can become combat ready before the fight
Ricki: move down but stay at the top level, out of sight. Case the justicar when he comes in.
Amad: move up. Trade Cordy his helmet for robe and mend ward. Give Lara her sword.
Cordy: trade, move right. Stay out of sight
Lara: not using the armor, move left and up, trade. Equip the armor afterwards (would be awkward to forget it next turn)
Next turn the gang fights patrol, while Ricki befriends the elementalist. This way we aren’t stuck in a fight we can’t win
Slight improvement over Nekpot’s plan.
–
Ricki: Head up. Trade your Swiftblade, Grounded Boots, Death Arrow and +3 Atk Ring to Amadeusz.
Amadeusz: Head up with Ricki. Trade your Shocktail, Heavy Greaves, Full Helm and +2 Def Ring to Ricki.
Ix: Head up with Ricki and Amadeusz. Pick up the Heavy Shield by the giant metal door. Also pick up as much of the other gear as you possibly can.
Lara: Since It Can’t Get Any Worse, use your Web Binding ability on one of the Sword Guards.
–
This gets us a Heavy Shield to sell later, lets us get a gauge on Ix’s inventory space, and lets Ricki hold the Shocktail when she escapes the dungeon next turn (it’ll look cooler than the swiftblade, trust me!)
