Dungeon 13 Turn 50
————
Lara, Amadeusz, and Cordy attack the two armed guards, dealing massive damage and taking none in response. In fact, the guards can’t seem to hit anything at all without the justiciar providing light. As a finishing move, Cordy steps on one of the nearby floor triggers on purpose after Ricki points it out. The explosion finished off the guards without harming any party members, except for the two mushrooms that got involved in the combat. They spawn two replacements with their death burst.
Ricki ignores the fight and follows her Dungeon Eyes, running up to the entrance as fast as she can. The two unarmed guards do the same, although they don’t seem to be following her in particular. Maybe they have some other plan in mind? It seems like this group has been acting differently than the first, at least since the fight started.
Worried that the pigeon is about to bring reinforcements, Ricki uses a charge of her wand wielder gloves to fire off a venomous sting and a magic missile at the same time. Between the two magical projectiles, the pigeon is knocked out of the air just before it leaves the dungeon.
Whew!
Suddenly, a massive explosion shakes the entire dungeon, and a plume of frosty vapour bursts through the hallway Ricki stands in and out the entrance. Uh oh. She may have stopped the pigeon in time, but there’s no way the guards outside won’t hear—
*ROOOOAR*

The dungeon parameters have changed!
Secondary Goal: Leave the dungeon before the Elemental Marauder does, or else stop it from leaving at all! The loss of life if it reaches the camp will be catastrophic, and if you can’t prevent it, you at least don’t want to be associated!
Time Limit: The Guard has been alerted to unusual happenings inside the dungeon and will send patrols every 5th turn.
All other parameters remain the same.
These time limits are really just a headache. Cant we have a dungeon where we happily minmax, I wanna see a full looting for once.
The Poison Well was a near-perfect loot run so you know how it feels already
This is the second dungeon in a row where we’re minmaxing instead of getting bond
Alright. We’re in the End Game now.
Option 1: Take out the fleeing guards first.
Lara can probably unequip her armor so she can catch the last guard and Ricki can take the other one before they exit. HOWEVER, there is a chance the Big Elemental will move into Lara’s path and smack her while she’s unarmored which would be bad. The elemental may attack the last wisp in Tank room first and not move though…
Option 2: Ricki uses heart on Elemental. Guards escape.
This option is banking on the new Secondary Goal that mentions ” or else stop it from leaving at all” and the Heart’s Description of making it “Docile”.
I cant think of any way to make this thing NOT try to escape other than the heart (or killing it). Killing seems bad since we are very weak, have no lens, and this thing was probably meant to wipe out patrols by itself.
Guards escaping means a patrol will show up which we can make the elemental fight for us.
Option 2 for me.
Definitely option #2. It’s angry. Just like we (or at least I) expected. Probably, that’s why it wants to get out. ‘Heart’ says it will make it docile towards the user, but it will still attack enemies, etc, but there’s a chance that after it’s docile, we can try talking to it, or maybe even it will stop -actively- pursuing killing guards IF theere are none in sight.
Also, as a sidenote, we don’t “kill”, we “pacify” 🙂 If the elemental IS the new-person, we can “safely” attack and kick its butt, because in the end, we won’t kill it, if it really is important sentient thing, and not just a blob of magical energy like a Wisp.
But, I’m totally for Option#2 and talking. Unless we quickly find Lens somewhere, or unless we have something that grants us some serious ice-resistance, I wouldn’t try attacking this one..
We definitely can’t pacify this thing. It was the new character, and we missed our chance. The last two characters were the hardest to get. That was the point. If the gnome arcanist was unobtainable after the explosion on turn 20, this guy is definitely unobtainable after turn 50. They got transformed permanently. I guarantee it. We really shouldn’t even try to kill them. They are probably more powerful than the original character was. We should just try to leave, period.
I strongly disagree. The fact that this character/elemental is even out from the tank is our work, we closed all the valves, and we caused the thing to malfunction. If we haven’t, it would still spew out wisps into containers. Our actions caused the source-of-the-wisps, the “wisp factory” operated by the empire’s goons – to cease its operation, probably permanently. We’ve completed (part of) the second goal, not failed it. We just didn’t new there’s more to it, but we (at least some of us) were pretty sure that whoever exists the tank after its disabled – will be either almost dead and needed to be taken care, or will be very very angry. We now see option #2.
Just something to consider: the Secondary Goal originally stated that we had to destroy the source of the Wisps. It no longer says that. So it can be assumed this thing is the source. Also follows the pattern of the gnome arcanist. They were both characters that were summoners: one summons golems, the other wisps. So it is unlikely that it will attack wisps or be harmed by them.
I’m a little concerned about getting our party by…
We dont need to get our party by. Just ricki since she can end dungeon on her own. Also, if we use the heart elemental wont hurt us.
So… that’s definitely our potential party-member, right? Unless they’re still kicking around in there somewhere I’m guessing we missed our window to recruit them.
I think we should wait to see what it looks like without the silhouette before we throw the Elemental Heart at it; it doesn’t look very wisp-y to me right now and until we can see if it’s ‘energy-based’ it’d just be a waste of thirty gold.
There’s one not-so-unfanthomable possibility: this one here is not our guy, but is a monster summoned by our guy who’s still sitting in the broken tank, exhausted. Or by the tank’s explosion and ripples in the aether pulled the monster in, whatever. The monster is just a gimmick to scare the shit out of us (that’s even kinda provable) and it goes left to the exit to put the pressure no us, and to diverge our focus, and what we actually need is to get Ricky to the tank to meet the guy. And here comes the heart, allowing us to go past the monster safely, and here comes the option to “kill” the elemental (not actually hurting the new-person).
he roar blue he is friend
S-level meta analysis maan xD
That’s possible for sure. Using heart still would make him docile and we can recruit whoever is behind them.
Option 2: Use the heart
Ricki: Equip your shield. Move Right. Use the heart on the new monster that came out. If its not there, Move Right again and Use the heart on the big new elemental that came out.
Lara: Trade your Siegesword for the Shocktail with Amad
Cordy: Trade your Scroll of Death for the Inferno Crowstone.
Amad: Do those Trades.
Besides trying to get our new buddy, We’ll also try to have Amad Enchant and eat before we exit (if the heart works and we’re clear).
Guys if you rearrange the letters in Elemental Marauder you get Elemental Heart. Don’t check, justtrustnme. Anyway, I think we need to break the elemental heart.
aaw.. and I thought we’d collect Elemental Brain, Elemental Arms, Elemental Legs, and Elemental Bladder and complete the ElementalBodyPartsSet and give it all to Mac to so he can do some piercing-and-joining with rings, and we’ll get our own FrankenElementalStein 🙁 but this plan won’t work anymore without the Heart! we’d get a heartless monster!
Whoooa Ricky did it!!
edit: so, ranged attack won us the race the piranhas couldn’t win with melee xD
Claudious’ plan with adjustements.
I think if Ricki doesn’t find marauder in center room yet, she should not go in tank room to heart it there because we need it in center room to beat up the patrol.
Like, the patrol summoned by escaping guards will be insane cuz they know that we are here and beat up 2 regular patrol AND that a giant monster is loose.
I’m paranoid of Ricki getting instant-killed by 2 justiciars while elemental maurauder chills out the the tank room if we pacify it there.
This also setup more stuff we can do before we exit.
Ricki: Move right. Use heart on elemental maurauder. Move up. Action move right(in case she still has her action)
Lara: Unequip armor. Give Amad siegesword. Move down. Move right.
Amad: Give Cordy midas gloves, purse, bandolier with potion and heal robes. Move down.
Cordy: Give Amad heavy helm, heavy greaves and deadly scroll.
The ideas for next turns if heart works:
52:
Ricki: Move right. Go in hole. Loot chest. End turn by hole.
Lara: Equip armor. Move right. Go up ladder and spiderwalk from right wall to loot the chest while standing on left wall and avoiding landmine. Ceilling walk again to avoid landmine as you end turn at bottom of ladder
Amad: Move right. Enchant shocktail or claws with deadly.
Cordy: Move right so Ricki can keep track of super patrol vs kaiju fight.
53:
Ricki: Leave hole. Move left. Action move down.
Lara: Move left. Punch a sunhead to distract them (she has 15 def and heals for 3, sunheads deal 18 total)
Amad: Loot stalkroach chest. End turn in bottom floor.
54:
Ricki: Move left. Leave and WIN!!
Lara: Move right. Loot wand materials
Amad: Move down. Loot rope.
Having Ricki go through hole for chest is very dangerous. 2 wolves is 8 vs Ricki’s Def of 7 and we dont know what that crow can do. Maybe its a debuff or paralyze? Ricki only has 3 hp…
Also unclear if both solars will go after lara or if one might smack Amad who also gets hit by Stalk/hulkroach.
This Greed is going to get someone killed.
Oh, the stuff at the end are just proposing ideas for following turns.
If we dont want to go into hole, Ricki can just grab the death arrow/rope we left in the big skelly room instead.
If we dont want the roach chest, amad can just skip to the rope instead and grab more meat while at it.
That makes me feel better. I still kinda want Ricki on hand near central chamber just in case but thats just a preference.
Sorry to ask, but why is Lara unequiping the armor and donning it back again? And how will Amadeusz carry the siege sword?
Lara needs to unequip to have 2 MOV since it reduce her MOV. She reequip when she actually needs the def/healing over the MOV.
Amad gets 4 items and give 4 items. Golly can deal with weight 2 stuff.
Assuming the Elemental will be able to solo a patrol is dangerous. They’re likely to be killed. Ricki generally needs to talk to them to recruit them after they’re made docile.
Someone on Discord mentioned that the 2 remaining groups of guards may have become mobile since the explosion. I’m now really against having Ricki go up for fear of running into dog guard group.
I’d rather Ricki stick around to protect our friend(?).
