Dungeon 13 Turn 40
————
Cordy and their mushrooms defeat the final two kobolds, but not before they get a final parting shot on Amadeusz, dealing 1 more damage. He negates that by eating some meat, recovering 3 HP, putting him at 2 net positive for the turn. He also drops a stack of meat to make room for other items, such as the only dragon tamer robe that survived the battle unscathed. Looks like it boosts healing effects. He also picks up a whip and a sword.
Ricki and Lara trade some items as the next patrol arrives. As far as Ricki can tell, it has the same composition as the last one.
The girlfriends then return to the room above the kobold lair. On their way, the pipe they pass rattles and a life wisp pops out, loose in the dungeon.

DRAGON ROBE, LIFE
Armour
Healing received or given is increased by 1.
Weight 1, Cost 20
Guardsmen, before investigating the dungeon, make sure you have a reliable light source. Do not, I repeat, do not go on blindly. Glory to the Emperor.
Golly – don’t fret, that’s not salami
Dragon robe, life + gloves + holster with 2x Mend = up to three hp in any way, then double-shot from the wands = 7hp, repeatable three times, and not even counting optional Heal, and not including any Lohk’s tricks. And basically, works on anyone. Nice! But costs 1Enc to carry, and also probably costs actions to wear/trade/takeoff. But if we have time, each meat for Ama would be now 4hp, making a full stack of meat mean 12hp instead of 9hp… But if we drop the rope, fill that 1Enc slto with meat, we get extra 9hp for Amad. That breaks even after 9x +1hp gained on other healing means using the robe.. Hmm.. actually might not be as good investment as I thought at first, unless we design some serious combo.. gloves have 3 uses, and 2 wands, giving max 3x +2hp (if it even works like that, it could give 3x +1hp, we never tried it yet).. far from meaty 9.
Trading is obv an action, but equipping/unequipping is free. We just wouldnt be able to, say, swap to robes to heal then swap to armor to fight. We can only benefit from one per turn.
Well.. absolute current max gain from this robes seems to me to be +3hp per turn, if one person wears the robe, and three other people use action to somehow heal that first one (like, 3 wands of mend, cast at the same time = 3+3hp, hopefully). Nice, and infinitely repeatable, but takes whopping 1enc off every single team member 😐
Wait for patrol
We can take the patrol easily, even if they have a couple of rings up their sleeves. Just need to regroup and find them.
Cordy, Amad: action move to the room with green wisp.
Ricki: go left-up to see how patrol distributed loot. Go down afterwards
Lara: drink the healing potion. Go left, annoy the wisp.
Nothing else to do really. Next turn the party goes up and meets patrol (assuming they go this way). See stats and battleplan in the comments
Enemy stats
name / atk / def / hp
justiciar ? ? ?, can curse for -2 -2
armed guard 3 8 8 x2
guard 1 8 8 (chain + shield) (or justiciar gets a shield instead)
guard 1 5 8 (shield)
dog 2 1 4
birb 0 0 1
(all of them have miss chance in darkness, unless J decides to attack)
—–
10+? damage = 12 first turn (because J will debuff)
Party stats
Ricki 9 8 7 (+dodge)
Lara 15 10 7 (after healing 2, in darkness)
Cordy 11 10 5
Amad 9 7 11
SMush 1 1 2 x7
Plan
Cordy + Amad + 2 shroom -> Justiciar (last time 14 dmg vs similarly armored J wasn’t enough. 22 should do it even if they get a shield and debuff someone and have a ring)
Ricki -> dog (enough even after debuff)
Lara + 1 mush -> armed guard (exactly enough)
5 mush -> birb
next turn:
armed guard 3 7 8
guard 1 7 8 (chain + shield)
guard 1 4 8 (shield)
5 incoming damage next turn (8 if armed guard survives somehow). Not a problem.
The problem with this is the bats are on the loose.
I completely missed that
Plan: Recklessly play with dragons since guards will take forever to reach us anyway.
Ricki: Head down, lens the turtle.
Lara: Head left, drink the potion while running through the green wisp. Head right.
Amadeusz: Dump the longsword. Grab the rope and tie it off to the empty chest if you can.
Cordy: Drop a piece of meat down to the lightning lizard. See what happens. Observe whether you think one piece of meat is enough to sufficiently distract it for a turn.
I suppose we can’t drop a just-defeated hobold there?
Interesting thought but I dont think so. Defeated enemies go to foreground, and there they remain until the end of time. I like your gumption tho.
Waaiitt arent open chests mobile? It would just fall off with us if we go down on a rope attached to it.
I think we should attach it to the ladder instead. And probably better on the turtle side if youre planning on attacking turtle first.
Keep In mind: this new patrol is same composition, but will have the 2 shields and 1 chain added. Also, no guarantee that the bats will kill the dog this time
I think we should define priorities here. I know, it’s late to define a “priority” now, but bear with me.
1 – We all want to rescue and recruite the new guy.
2 – I believe most of us want to kill the dragons and loot their stuff.
3 – A patrol just came in.
What worries me is that the patrol will wander around, and they have their own priority. And what is that? That is to defend the Empire’s assets. And in this case, the asset is our new party member.
I believe that the guards will realize that something is going on inside the facility. The equipment on the floor is clue enough. And I think they will go check on the vat first, before start to searching for us. The problem here is that they have that damn pigeon. Imagine you are the justiciar. What would you do? Barricade the vat room and send pigeon for reinforcements. If that happens, we lose the new guy.
I think we need to defeat the patrol asap.
Then what? The dungeon with the golem builder had a recruitment quest. If we got to the new guy in time, he would want us to destroy all golems before joining. Why is thus important? Because I think this new friend will want something from us before joining, and looking at the dungeon, I’m suspecting that what elemental person wants is revenge against the scientists. We don’t know why those guys are locked there, and the way to get to them is very dangerous. There is a reason for this, right?
And there is the dragons. And maybe the reason why the elemental heart is here. Can we defeat two dragons at once? Maybe. Can we defeat one at a time? Probably yes, but we need the heart for this.
Why the text wall then? Because If I’m right about all of this, I don’t think we will have the luxury of time to kill the dragons and all the enemies on the way to the scientists.
Turn 50 is when shit hits the fan, usually.
I’ll make a separate suggestion with all of this in mind.
Edit:
This was a plan to wait for the patrol to reach the middle room with the bats, so we can fight the guard before facing the dragons or saving the new guy.
Forget it. Sick’s plan above accomplishes what I had in mind and also speeds up the dragon fight. Hopefully they fight each other.
I don’t want to commit to the dragon fight before defeating the patrol, but Sick’s plan is better than what I had here.
