Dungeon 12 Turn 9
————
Ricki descends to the lower room and joins Amadeusz and Cordy in attacking the fish now that they know the human(??) skeletons won’t participate. All three skeletal fish are defeated. Ricki manages to tank the damage from one fish plus the poison, while Amadeusz narrowly avoids taking damage from the poison plus two fish. Cordy raises another new mushroom out of the dead fish.
Lara fairly easily demolishes one of the scorpions above with a single strike, and easily avoids damage from its counterattack. She sends her little mushroom to distract the other, which results in it getting killed and exploding. The spores from the explosion land on the dead scorpion and spawn yet another new mushroom.
Let’s have everyone get out of the poison for turn 10, in case the damage increases or something else bad happens?
AFAIK,nothing happens. On 10,we lose progress from clearing the poison- AKA the spewers respawn. But if we haven’t killed any, none will respawn.
“Time Limit: Every 10 turns, some of your progress may be undone. //Also, you’re going to drown in poison.//” (Emphasis added)
This could actually mean something meaningful, like the water level going up. Especially something like “water level goes up if you haven’t killed any spewers. ” We don’t know yet.
We did ask how the 2nd part of that sentence was related to the first.I was worried it’d be instant drowning. If killing the barnacles stops the poison,it might also lower the water level …Oh,AND there MIGHT be areas where the water won’t ever reach us,AKA where Petmaster is standing.
Plan: lens, loot and Scorp
Ricki: move left and lens puffer fish. Swim. Back right and get out of water on left side.
Lara: kill scorpion
Cordy: assign new mushy 1 to Ricki. Assign the other to Lara again. Swim across and wand scorpion (new mushy)
Amad: swim down and loot the right side treasure chest. Get out of water on the left side after.
With amad and Ricki starting in water this turn. I’m hesitant to send them into battle. Next turn we can prob clear Baatles and loot again and be ready to handle the source.
Why not Lens the barnacles?Sure,Amy’s Dirge missing implies they’re inorganic, but they COULD still have stats like the golem…
This has Ricki taking 3 screens of poison damage, on a turn that might have other consequences happening. Is that a good idea?
And for that matter, I’m pretty sure both skeletons will attack Ama if he goes for the chest.
Those skellies do 1 dmg each with debuff. Not a risk
Gotcha gotcha, that’s not an issue then.
Turn consequences are that our progress gets undone. If it was turn 20… I would be more worried about the “twist”.
Here’s my suggestion:
CORDY:Sting the black skeletons -(imagine you’re in Chicago suburb if it helps)-
LARA:Make the new minishroom distract the new scorpion, then kill it while it is looking away from you.
AMY:Use 1 of your MOVES to resurface first, then your 2nd MOVE to dive again.Go fetch the bone, boy.Go fetch the bone from whichever skeleton Cordy stings.
RICKY:Go up one of the ladders, lens the weird spewing barnacles so you find out if they’re organic or not.Afterwards return to the rest of the party with your remaining MOVE.
Objections?
Also,I counted,we’ll need 72 coins for the Manor upgrades I’ve been thinking about:
40 for the Kobold Den (baby lizards!)
15 for the Still (booze buffs might be cheaper than Library buffs)
17 for Garden (going off the assumption that it works like a Bedroom upgrade for Tanya)
And ASSUMING it’s possible,40 coins for the 2 Hearty Meals, when we go to the Laboratory.
Did the “I Post Bad Ideas” guy change names as a joke?
Amy: Why is he resurfacing then going back in? To see if that procs poison damage twice, because it would be funny? If it’s for air reasons, the only important thing is where he ends his turn.
Cordy: Is this little Chicago quip supposed to be racist…? I can’t tell what you were going for, if not that.
Lara: Not really any reason to include the shroom thing, other than funny. No harm though, I guess.
Ricki: Kinda a waste of a lens, given that the chance that we’ll see this enemy again after this dungeon is pretty low. I’d rather use it on an enemy that looks like it will reoccur, like the pufferfish.
-I was assuming the poison damage can be blocked by plain Def (drowning can’t)
-Black comedy.Bot like what I said is worse than what Team4Star does on a episodic vasis, but I still apologise.
-I assumed the scorpion would prioritise Lara if she attacked before the minishroom.
-We DO still need info on it,& there’s plenty of other enemies we’re (probably)NOT going to meet, like the Snales,Corn speartons,or Burnt driders.
Plan: Don’t risk too much damage on turn 10, in case something bad happens because we haven’t taken any spewers out yet (partially cribbed from Claudius)
Ricki: attack the right skeleton. If you can, get out of the water afterwards and go visit Lara
Lara: kill scorpion
Cordy: assign new mushy 1 to Ricki. Assign the other to Lara again. Swim across and wand Ama’s skeleton (new mushy, assuming their HP+Def is less than 10? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.)
Amad: attack the left skeleton. If you can, get out of the water afterwards and go visit Lara.
Next turn will depend on if there are any turn consequences this turn.
I like the part where everyone went to visit Lara
Plan: Don’t risk too much damage on turn 10, in case something bad happens because we haven’t taken any spewers out yet (partially cribbed from Claudius)
Baatle version:
Ricki: Go up via the left stairs. Attack one of the Baatles.
Lara: kill scorpion
Cordy: assign new mushy 1 to Ricki. Assign the other to Lara again. Swim across and wand scorpion (new mushy)
Amad: Go up via the left stairs. Attack the other Baatle.
Posting both versions because I don’t remember how much damage Baatles do. If we can tank the damage, I think taking out the Baatles would be better. Vote for the relevant one.
You have MY vote.
Keep in my mind that Ricki and amad are already in poison this turn so they will probably get the extra dmg from it and the baatles
How much do Baatles do? I couldn’t remember. That’s why I posted the skeletons as an alternative. That should only be 2 damage a piece.
I’m also paranoid about having Ricki travel 3 rooms of poison so made an edit of Claudious’ plan.
Also adding some stuff to try that might work but doesn’t hurt if not. We can loot any amount of nearby items in 1 action, and use any picked up items on the spot.
Like, if there was 2 lens on the floor, we could loot both and use one immediately as the same action.
So maybe Ricki can loot some coins too if they’re where she’s lensing? Same for Amad with the chest and its nearby coins..
Ricki: Move a room left and go to the biggest coin pile. Lens puffer fish while picking up as many nearby coins as possible, prioritizing lensing. (stay there, that’s 1 damage, the same as crossing 3 rooms of poison at 3 each, and saving a lot if it increase to 4)
Lara: Go to the ceiling above scorpion then drop to kill it with a gravity-assisted stab. Did that seem to do more damage?
Cordy: assign new mushy 1 to Ricki. Assign the other to Lara again. Swim across and wand scorpion (new mushy)
Amad: swim to loot the right side treasure chest and as many coins as possible, prioritizing chest content. Move a room up using the left ladder so Ricki has Dungeon Eyes on the source as the timer ticks in.
Looks good to me. A guarenteed 1 dmg on ricki is better than a possible 2-3 from rooms.
Amad, Cordy and Lara can clear the Baatles next turn.
Okie, edited for Amad to use the left ladder. Ricki can loot the other chest and leave water next turn, I’m with Jing that 3 room of poison is too risky when it could go to 4.
Just realizing “biggest coin pile” might have her going downstairs and getting hit by all the left-hand enemies. Could it be edited to “biggest coin pile on top area?” I know it’s pretty late for that.
We are only moving one screen left. There are two puffers there that we are lensing
Ah, gotcha gotcha
