Dungeon 12 Turn 8
————
After drinking the potion off the ground and being healed again by Amadeusz (recovering a total of 6 HP), Lara jumps back into the water and swims around on the surface a bit. At the same time, Cordy shows up and shoots one of the skeletal fish with their wand, dealing minor damage. The fish then swim up and attack Lara, though the skeletal humans(?) remain in place. Maybe they don’t know how to swim? Regardless, Lara takes no damage due to her various defensive items and her magical buffs against poison.
That distant screaming sound it still going, by the way.
Ricki pauses to catch her breath and uses her Case ability on the puzzle chest. She sees that there’s a very useful helmet in there, but she still doesn’t know how to get the chest open.

DIVING HELMET
Accessory
Def +1. Removes the penalties from fighting underwater. Prevents damage from drowning five times per dungeon.
Weight 2, Cost 30
The Trend of Silly hats continues it seems
I want to see how that diving helmet works on Cordy, it will be hilarious!
omg, I imagine that red-dotted mushroom head parts folding and making he unable to see anything 😀
Plan:
Slow and Steady towards the Source.
Lara: Move along ceiling and Carry Ricki over to Scorpion side. Move up ladder and Attack Scorpion 1
Amad: Move up and Attack Scorpion 2
Cordy: Finish off weakened Fish with Wand.
Ricki: Move down and be carried by Lara across water. Throw Harpoon at Fish 2. Drop Potion of Poison Resist if you need to make room.
Next Turn:
Lara Kill Baatle 1
Amad: Kill scorpion 2
Ricki and Cordy Kill Baatle 2
Should hopefully clear the way to take on Fishies at source turn after.
We wont get to the Source before turn 10 which may be a good thing since Dungeon Goal says our Progress may be undone every 10 turns. So Jokes on LSN! we have no progress!
How do we know what the Source is? I may have missed it
We don’t know what it is, but the purpley tentacle-y thing in with the 5 fish seems like a pretty good candidate for being one of several things poisoning the water. Theory is there’s like 3 of them, and if we don’t clear them fast enough they respawn (or spawn more) every 10 turns.
I thought so too, would it be worth a lens? If we find another one or in some hypothetical shopping scenario, buy one
Amadeusz’s dirge earlier didn’t seem to damage it, meaning it’s probably not an Enemy or something we can lens.
It’ either:
Forgive me if I jinx that, but..
> We wont get to the Source before turn 10 which may be a good thing since Dungeon Goal says our Progress may be undone every 10 turns. So Jokes on LSN! we have no progress!
I expect we get a kick-in-the-butt a.k.a. some penalty for this lack of progress when time elapses..
FYI, LSN comment on Discord about Lara Swimming and being attacked by fish:
LSN: You run past a place where enemies are or are going to be, they can attack.
Does that chest look like anything besides the colour of clean, pure water? Making it seem absurdly tantalizing but definitely out of reach, at least for when we need it most?
Fair guess, but also could be some enemy or item or dungeon element we haven’t seen yet.
To help with future plans, the running theory is that the Poison Water deals 3 damage for every room of Poison Water a character moves through and that Skeletal Fish have 2 Atk.
Turn 2, Lara had 16 Defense after Amadeusz’s Violins, her Poison Resistances and the Underwater Debuff. She swam through 2 Rooms of Poison Water (6 damage), 3 Skeletal Fish (6 damage), and 2 Plague Rats (6 damage) which ended with her taking 2 damage. (18 damage – 16 defense = 2)
Turn 6, Lara had 15 Defense after her Poison Resistance and Underwater Debuff. She swam through 3 Rooms of Poison Water (9 damage), 3 Skeletal Fish (6 damage), and 2 Harpoons (8 damage). (23 damage – 15 Defense = 8)
Turn 7, Lara had 15 Defense after her Poison Resistance and Underwater Debuff. She swam through 3 Rooms of Poison Water (9 damage), 3 Skeletal Fish (6 damage), and 2 Reinforced Skeletons (Normally 4 damage, but reduced by 2 because they were effected by the Underwater Debuff, so 2 damage). (16 damage – 15 defense = 1, killing her, but Dogadeusz brought her back to 1 with the Mending Wand. Good Dog.)
Dogadeusz xD
Ricki: Head down, cross the pond with Lara’s assistance. Move past the Scorpions and head up. Attack a Baatle with your Swiftblade.
Lara: Help Ricki across the pond. Head up the ladder and demolish a Scorpion. Have your Shroom attack the other Scorpion.
Wolf: Head up the ladder and help the Shroom attack the other Scorpion. Smoke a ciggy for some extra strength.
Cordy: Sting the same Skeletal Fish to finish it off and make a new baby.
Plan to make the waters safe to cross and loot
Cordy: Finish wounded fish with sting
Lara: Kill a scorpion
Lara’s mushie: Attack the other scorpion as distraction (make replacement mushie from dying scorp with explosion)
Amad: Swim across the surface until the fish come. Kill a healthy fish
Ricki: Swim with Amad, kill another healthy fish.
Wouldn’t it be crazy of the sound of distant screaming was actually distant screaming from another new character we’re about to miss, and it just so happened to line up perfectly with Lara’s near death experience? That would be such a troll move.
Doubt it’s another character. I’d be willing to bet it’s a friendly/neutral NPC though.
So was the distant screaming Ricki, hence why she’s catching her breath and looks traumatized? Lara’s probably wishing Ricki hadn’t seen that.
No, the fact that LSN pointed it out again is probably an indicator that we’re going to be punished if we don’t check it out soon. Like little Timmy is trapped down the well and going to die in a few turns.
