Dungeon 12 Turn 51
————
Ricki and Lara abandon the atlatl and return to the central well. Lara continues upward with Amadeusz, while Ricki stop and tries to use the bucket to scoop up some poison. It turns out it’s hard to scoop up poison while fully submerged in poison, though. She chews on her oxymoss while she considers the problem.
The skeletons are so tired of being ineffectual that they don’t even bother posing anymore.
Amadeusz heals Lara for 1 HP with the wand of mend, and stays behind in the central well. He takes 1 damage from drowning.
Lara returns to a previous item pile.
Cordy and one of their mushrooms correctly anticipate that the skull that wasn’t here a few minutes ago is actually a freshly-hatched skull crab. They attack it together, which is enough to take it out, but Cordy gets snipped for 1 damage in the process.
The mushroom explodes after fully exposing itself to the poison water (the other two are fine somehow), and a replacement sprouts from the crab’s body.
Hmm… So far 2 of 4 sources have had a crab spawn next to it. Not sure how the ceiling one is gonna have one but I bet LSN will find a way
I’m 55% sure the crabs are a reference to SCP-F,because there’s literally a crab that does this.
Plan: eyes on fish.
Amad: move left. Use wand on Lara. Get air
Lara: get healed. Move up to petmaster air pocket and get out of the water
Ricki: move left. Drop bucket and oxymoss to pick up atlatl and Crit greaves.
Cordy: eat shroom and move down
Gets us eyes on 2 of the 3 possible ways the fish will go. Also gets everyone within striking distance of a source.
Lara coming from the bottom means that if the fish do enter from the right side, they won’t see her and she’ll be out of the water when they check the room for targets
Do you think those fish will actively patrol?Or are they just there to stop us from leaving via “swim straight up”?Is it possible to bypass the Skull Crabs by just attacking from range,or clinging to the ceiling in Lara’s case?
Most time to leave mechanics have been a patrol of some kind so that’s our best guess.
As for ranged, it really depends on what the targets def is.id it has 1 def an 8 HP wed have to spend 8 turns killing it.
I’d prefer losing 1 hp to guarantee killing it if it means dungeon ends. We heal after dungeon anyway
Without Lara around to distract some of the skellies, Ricki can take 2 damage (6 water+5 skellies and -1 def from water)
Skellies do 4 with the debuff
They have 2 ATK each, plus +2 on the sword skelly. With debuff, that’s 1+1+3=5
We need Ricki to pick up the valuable stuff she left (why?) If all skellies do manage to hit her then she’ll still have 1 hp and we’ll know that we need to send someone down to clear.
If she dodges even 1 of them, then she can clear the bottom source as well.
She can’t leave without help after entering left so she should do stuff on the right where she takes no damage first. Atlatl is not valuable at only 10. A bucketful of poison could be worth a lot and the harpoon we left on the right is worth 15.
I’d think the bucket would do 1 room of damage at most to an enemy which would be 3. But we’ll find out I guess.
Moving Ricki Left afterwards means stopping in the mid area again for a drowning and a risk the patrol moving in.
all for a harpoon that sells for 2 gp more than an atlatl
Cordy should kill that Barnacle from range.
Ricki can (probably) kill the barnacle in the same screen as the 2 Ghouls, while Lara kills the one next to her.
Amy should try moving up,& eat another chunk of meat.
Alternative plan to do something with Lara’s action, have eyes on all 3 positions and doesnt cause damage on Ricki since bottom source is not a priority(we learned clearing it do nothing until the upper ones are cleared anyway) for now
Amad: Eat meat in your tunnel while letting us see incoming fish. Then move left for air.
Lara: Move up to pet master air pocket and get out of the water. Ask pet master to detail rules(could Cordy use all their pets? could we use debuffs on his pet before starting? etc)
Ricki: move right. Avoid any skulls. Go to air pocket to get us a bucketfull of poison at last
Cordy: eat shroom and move down
Alternative ideas for Lara’s action are encouraged!
We need to move Ricki left at some point so she can pickup her left items and clear the bottom source.
We need to go right first because we left the valuable harpoon there and she can’t go right if she goes left first. She can go left after.
To go left again from boss room will require her to stop in the mid, which is 2 turns of risk if the patrol enters. The Harpoon is only 2-3 more gp of value over the atlatl.
Plan: Start clearing
Amad: Move down, mend Ricki
Ricky: attack sword skeleton hopefully causing something to break
Lara: Move to upper room to glance at it, move back down, sting skullcrab from wall above water hopefully causing a reaction
Cordy: Sting egg sack from safe distance
Cordy should be able to eventually kill the sack from a safe distance
Skeletons are a hindrance to movement that low down and it’s time we started clearing them already if we want that full clear, but it’s risky for Amad to start attacking them now, so we’re topping up Ricki first. Lara is getting us eyes on the room above which, fish paranoia aside, lets us see what’s the egg sack situation in that room and *hopefully* reveals skull crab avoiding 1 unblockable damage. Amad drowns a bit but he’s got meat and wand of mending so it’s not a big problem.
Ricki, if you want to collect poison water then just scrape a bit of egg sac into your bucket before you destroy it then when all the poison is clear from the water add some clean water and make it poison.
Then threaten the village with a repositioning of their well if they don’t give us some gold every day.
Please stop this.It really isn’t as funny as you think.
