Dungeon 12 Turn 12
————
Ricki and Amadeusz dive into the small pool and attack the skeletal fish, each of them destroying one. Seemingly at random Amadeusz gets attacked by three of them, and takes 3 damage between that and the poison.
With only two fish remaining “alive”, the fury of their attacks seems to die down a little bit.
Cordy, now with a full complement of little mushrooms, picks up and… drinks? Sure. They “drink” the potion of poison resistance.
Lara drops her venom gland, then opens the final chest in this room, finding six arrows. The two skeletons attack her, but deal no damage.
I’m a little curious how Pet Master would react to Cordy – could he send all 4 pets in to a fight, or would it have to just be the one?
Is there promising speculation about the chest condition yet? Is it possible it’s picking up all the wishing well coins?
Seems unlikely as that would be ridiculously time consuming.
Two possible theories I’ve heard so far are:
Taking X drowning Damage
Prevent X drowning damage via moss.
I actually think destroying this Polyp and turning this poison water into clear water will unlock the puzzle chest. This spot is separate from the rest of the Poison Water in the dungeon and seems to do less damage as well. It’s probably an optional polyp and the reward for breaking it is the Diving Hat.
That would be nice
Chest is typically the same color as the puzzle, in some way. So besides being obscenely action-consuming (15 actions so far, that I can see), it also doesn’t fit the color.
Ricki: Use picklocks on the chest. If you need extra space, drop the lockpicks. Head a room downwards after.
Amadeusz: Pop the purple polyp piece producing poison please. Get out of the water and head down afterwards if you can.
Lara: Head left, attack the leftmost Blowfish with your Harpoon. (8 damage, leaving Blowfish with 1 HP remaining)
Cordy: Head left, and Sting the Rightmost Blowfish. (2 damage, but because of the Rotfang Hood, the Blowfish Poison Defense is reduced by at least 2)
Lara’s Shroom: Punch the rightmost Pufferfish and EXPLODE.
Leftmost Blowfish: After your friend kills the Shroom with its attack and thorns ability, take 1 damage from its exploding Shroom and then Explode yourself, dealing 5 poison damage to the rightmost Blowfish.
Rightmost Blowfish: After your friend Explodes, realize you only have 4 or 5 effective defense now and you took 2 from Cordy, 1 from the Shroom, 5 from the other Blowfish, and 3 from the Poison Water. Then Explode.
–
Lara has 19 defense while wielding the Harpoon and is taking 8 damage from Poison Water and 10 damage from Blowfish Explosions. Should take 2 unblockable damage from fighting the Blowfish and avoids drowning because of Oxymoss.
Cordy should take 1 unblockable damage from drowning. And I guess a new mushroom is spawned for Amadeusz, filling out our group.
Ricki should get a cool new item that is only useful for Coccyx.
Amadeusz might take 1 unblockable damage from drowning and hopefully is able to destroy the poison fruit.
Looks good to me. Thanks for breaking it down so nicely.
Poor Ama got bit right in the junk
-Lara:Make sure you don’t take drowning damage & resurface.Smack a skeleton along the way.Move towards the barnacle next to Ricki so you can smack it next turn
-Cordy:Go left & Sting a blowfish (I’m assuming that THIS is the reason for him drinking?)
-Ricki & Wereamy:Resurface & breathe so you don’t take drowning damage, then keep doing what you’re doing already.
Everything good?
I think this has been mentioned before, but drowning damage occurs at the end of the turn if the character isn’t able to surface. Not a random point in the middle of the turn.
Besides that, Sick’s plan seems to be more efficient.
EDIT: Actually, I realize you may be getting confused on the wording. It is not about whether or not the character spent at least some time at the surface of the water in some point of that turn. A character resurfacing and then going back in does not change whether or not they will take drowning damage that turn.
If at the end of the turn the character is at the surface of the water, or in a spot/situation where surfacing would not take any extra actions/movements/engagements/commands, then they don’t drown. If they are in a spot/situation where surfacing would take any extra actions/movements/engagements/commands, then they take drowning damage.
Citation: The fact that Lara took drowning damage on turn 1, despite having started her turn above water.
