Dungeon 11 Turn 23
————
Kamau and Amadeusz are easily able to defeat the remaining two guards without taking any damage. There is now a huge pile of treasure on the floor, including chain armour, an imperial greataxe, an imperial longsword, a regular longsword, and three copper rings of protection. Neither of them has any inventory space, so on the floor it shall all remain.
Ricki heads up the ladder.
Macadamia reads the note posted next to the locked door. He notices the handwriting is different than all the other ones the party has found so far.
“Effective immediately all patrols are to report to the commanding officer in camp rather than the enforcer in the tower.”
Ricki uses her Case ability on the Enforcer she can see standing atop the tower. It looks like she has a ton of powerful items, including two gold rings, one of which is of a type she’s never seen before. She’d like to get her hands on that magic weapon and shield, but can she manage it…?

We can take her.
And I’m really happy that Case is more useful than I thought. I remember voting against Case during that level up.
I did vote for it and this is partially why (I was looking at the identify items in chest). I wonder if the Enforcer is also wearing some sort of armor. That Ring of Evasion is seriously nice but it is going to be a pain to get it. That shield is very nice for its weight.
She has a plate armor. Her defense right now is no lower than 9, not to mention the evasion chance (that we will learn if it procs on a round basis or per individual attack).
Plan: Commit to our decision
Ricki: Unlock door. Move up to allow Daisy to attack Enforcer
Kamau: Move up and interpose on Enforcer with heavy shield.
Amad: Drop both rings next to the other rings on floor, Move up and attack Enforcer
Mac: Move up and attack Enforcer with Axe.
Mushy and Daisy: Attack Enforcer
Phoenix: Negate Enforcer’s dodge chance (Wishful thinking)
Assuming Enforcer might have Kamau’s Base stats, Kamau can still tank him safely. If he does do damage somehow, we can keep Kamau going with the wand.
The dodge ring is what is going to slow this down so lets get as many attacks in each round as we can.
I have Ricki opening door as that is 100% guarentee to allow us to start piling on this guy. Trying mac first only delays us more on this potentially long battle.
Ring drop is for Mac later who can stack them better and they are worth a lot. Allows Amad to grab the new ones immediately
Just a heads-up that the Enforcer is a She; “SHE has a ton of magic items”.
I think we can take her, too!
Plan: Deal with inventory issues then move up.
Mac: Try to open the door with the keys you have; if the keys don’t work and you still have an action, wait for Kamau to interpose and then attack the enforcer;
Amadeusz: Drop the imperial plate armor and both your copper rings of protection on the same treasure pile left by the defeated guards; move up, wait for Kamau to interpose and attack the enforcer; let Phoenix do stuff to the enforcer;
Kamau: Drop the regular shield on the same treasure pile left by the defeated guards; move up and interpose on the enforcer; let the Shroom attack the enforcer;
Ricki: Lockpick the door ONLY if Mac’s keys don’t work (please, keep the tools!); if Mac opened the door, wait for Kamau to interpose and then attack the enforcer; let Daisy attack the enforcer.
Dropping all those items will let us collect new treasure, and will allow Mac to pick up all 5 copper rings from the floor at once. Amadeusz doesn’t need defense when Kamau can interpose.
Unsure if these conditionals with Mac and Ricki will work. If they dont, we’re just wasting everyone’s actions for the turn for the sake of saving a single lockpick. We do have big issues to deal with downstairs and time is of the essence
I’ll not suggest picking a lock I might have the keys for. I’m not in such a hurry.
If this suggestion I made is not effective, the one above has been edited to acomodate the inventory changes.
I see Siv posted a new one, trying the keys first. I’ll post a new one, that I’m also not sure will work well, but anyway, we have enough options.
LSN doesn’t allow conditionals
Preparations for dealing with an Enforcer:
Mac: try keys on door.
Ricki: Briefly go down, point false ladder rung to everyone, ask Kamau about what an Enforcer can do, and if the Enforcer being a woman is somehow significant, go back up.
Kamau: Answer Ricki, go up one screen
Amadeusz: contribute to the conversation with your own knowledge about enforcers – you cased this dungeon, you probably know of her, then go up one screen.
Plan: Deal with inventory issues and prepare to move up and engage enforcer on turn 25.
Mac: Try to open the door with the keys you have;
Amadeusz: Drop the imperial plate armor and both your copper rings of protection on the same treasure pile left by the defeated guards (free); pick up the chain armor (leaves 2 slots + rings open);
Kamau: Drop the regular shield on the same treasure pile left by the defeated guards; catch a breathe;
Ricki: Go down, Case triple locked chest.
Dropping all those items will let us collect new treasure, and will allow Mac to pick up all 5 copper rings from the floor at once. Amadeusz doesn’t need defense when Kamau can interpose. This way we won’t waste a lockpick and will also know if triple lock is worth all this trouble and 3 more turns to open.
