Dungeon 14 Turn 24
————
Ricki returns briefly to the previous room and uses her magical lens to identify the true nature of one of the dragon tamers above. She then returns to the room on the left to lead the kobold prisoners towards freedom.
Upon seeing the unguarded entrance, the kobolds become energized and make a run for the mountains beyond the dungeon. One turns to Ricki and Kamau before departing.
“We’re so grateful for what you’ve done for us. I wish there was some way we could repay you.”
“Actually, I was wondering if you knew anything about the really big lizard. We just got a close look at it and I don’t see any possible way of defeating it.”
“Ah, the Tyrant Lizard King. Mostly I know I’m glad it’s in here now that we’re going out there.”
“There IS some way of killing it, though I don’t know what that is, exactly.”
“Then how do you know?”
“Well, there used to be two. But one day the male was gone.”
“I remember hearing the cultists saying it inevitable after it attacked one of its own offspring.”
“I guess they figured they were better off raising a new male than tolerating that one.”
“I’m afraid that’s all I know.”
“Thank you again!”
Back at the shopping chamber, Botanya picks up the new wand of heal and the expended midas gloves. Mac sells another armload of stuff, then buys 3 gold rings, 9 pieces of meat, and 2 more ropes, leaving him with 14 gold coins leftover.
“It’s been good doing business. Just remember I’m out of here shortly, so it’s your last chance to buy or sell anything.”

DRAGON TAMER
HP: 8
Atk: 2 or 3 ranged
Def: 2
Ability: Immune to one element, ranged attack damage is of same element
Drops: 30% Dragon Robe
Certain kobold cultists believe that they can return dragons to the world by raising various reptiles and amphibians inside dungeons. The dragon tamers are leaders of these cultists, possessing elemental powers that aid them in dealing with powerful creatures. They also serve as leaders to allied kobolds, directing them to act for the benefit of their cause above all else.
The regular update schedule returns next week!
There IS some way of killing it …
Plan: Testing the waters
Ricki: move right. Move right. Disarm floor trap, move left after
Kamau: move right, wait for Ricki to disarm trap. Climb ladder and use heavy strike on crossbow tamer. See it fly off the ladder with satisfaction. Cleave the second tamer if you can.
Mac: drop a stack of meat in the pile. move right, move down. Blow horn.
Botania: see if you can attach the rope to the bomb’s wick as a method of making the bomb explode from a distance. Move right after and hold.torch out for kamau to see.
Reasons:
Ricki is disarming trap so crossbows dont trigger it remotely in us.
Kamau is clearing kobolds and needs the extra dmg to one shot them. If cleave works then we don’t need the extra dmg next turn
Mac is luring king away from battle. But not via baby since we are unsure if King would screw us by breaking that door or not.
Botania is fiddling with the bomb because she has spare actions and if this works we can try more stuff later and if not then we know we tried and can move on
Doesn’t this risk the Black group focusing on Ricki, instantly remorsing out Kamau?
I don’t see why they would focus her and not kamau who is actively attacking them.
We have had multiple fights this dungeon where Kobolds with ranged abilities focus Kamau the melee attacker over a ranged attacker. With Ricki not even attacking, I dont think she will be a priority target for anyone.
I agree with you. This is too risky.
Ricki: Move right, move right again. Alert Kamau about the trap, disarm the floor trap. Move left after.
Kamau: Move right. Avoid the trap and Interpose as Ricki disarms it.
Mac: Drop a stack of meat in the pile. Move right, move down. Blow horn.
Botania: see if you can attach the rope to the bomb’s wick as a method of making the bomb explode from a distance. Move right after and hold torch out for Kamau to see.
This is Claudious plan, but has Kamau interposing as Ricki disarms the trap. I’m not confident that the tamers and the rider won’t attack her.
I know I already suggested this, but ~ how about buying back the Paw from Paws?
Looking at the ratio of exploration, and state of the main quest, both of them alone suggest we’ll be staying here far past mystical Turn30, and there’s probably quite a lot of enemies and other stuff out there in those 4+ rooms we have not seen yet.
I think we’ll have a two or three loads to liquidate, at least, and having the Paw at hand won’t hurt either if we need some extra healing further near the end.
