Dungeon 9 Turn 41
————
Three fresh zombies hear the battle downstairs and join in. Although both mushrooms get another point of infection during the fracas (Lara avoids any thanks to Botanya’s song), Kamau uses the power of smoking to cleave through every single enemy in the room, splashing the walls and floors with… well, not blood, I guess. Hemolymph and… whatever zombies have.
Kamau discards the pack of cigarettes after smoking one because they’re gross.
Viscera and maybe some form of embalming fluid, I would imagine.
But mostly viscera. *barf*
The necro looks to be SO DONE with all of this.
Wow, that was an incredible awesome outcome (none of the main characters attracting another point of infection. Sorry mushrooms, no offense meant, but you are classified as “pets” by LSN himself). All the zombies dealt with and that punchbug, too!
I know it might have been more “profitable” game-mechanics-wise if it had happened, but I am really glad Kamau didn’t get addicted. 🙂
I guess now we should spend a turn to use the lens (and swap around inventory) in preparation for the big fight. I hope some of you lovely people from discord already have a min-maxing plan for that.
I didn’t get much further than have Botanya pick up the coins (because she has the purse), feed Kamau the greater healing potion (5 HP healed would mean 1 of them gets wasted, if Lara were to use it) and have Ricki use the lens (on the necromancer, was the consent from last turn, iirc.).
It might be prudent to have Lara put on the helmet again, maybe? If the golem or the necromancer can ignore Kamaus interpose, then all our chars might be at risk of losing HP…
Have we met any enemies that were able to ignore interpose yet, does someone remember and can kindly remind me?
I guess someone who does AoE damage can definitely be a threat to the other party members, interpose or not.
Also might be worth having someone (probably Botanya?) do a poison enchant on the beeg sword
My logic for it being Botanya:
We’re going to need Kamau’s health for interpose. If Botanya is losing any we’re screwed anyway with remorse. Besides that, she has the most to spare
I think faithless could but they were an ooze. Maybe manny with his unblockabke aoe?
I’d love to save the potion if we could to set us up better for next dungeon but you’re likely right.
Ricki: Grab the lens and identify the Necromancer. Point out the traps to your friends while on your way up. Then head left.
Kamau: Avoid traps. Head up, then use your action to head left.
Lara: Avoid traps. Head up, then use your action to head left.
Botanya: Pick up the Gold. Avoid traps, then head up.
[Explanation]
Sets us up next turn for Lara to Sting the pots hanging from the rope underneath Coc’s perch and for Ricki & Kamau to take care of some Zombies and for Botanya to arrive just in time to provide some aroma support.
Hoping to get Coc’s chest, open up the Sarcophagi and deal with whatever’s in it and maybe inspect the skeleton being guarded by 3 Ghouls before we move in to fight the Necromancer.
Can we not summon more of the ‘bypasses defense’ enemies for 3 gold? Really no reason to sting the pots
Some people on discord think breaking the pots will lower the rope, or something. Trying to get Coc’s chest.
Also on average 3 pots would be like 5-6 gold pbt
I feel bad about this because the necromancer is literally right there and we don’t have infinite time. We got lucky but the guards could show up literally any minute.
That’s ok. The key point here is lensing the necro. This will inform our future turns. If the guards show up, we’ll have a few turns because of the barriers.
Also hoping we can investigate cocyx’s body and just see if MAYBE the bandana is the key to taking him out of the dungeon. It might be false hope, but worth a shot.
I am on board with this as long as the pots and the one tomb are the only objectives. I still want to be out of here by turn 49
Aye, that’s the plan.
Let’s Not Get Greedy option: Preparing to take down Necro after a brief inventory shuffle and prep phase.
Ricki: Drop the Venomous scroll. Grab the lens and identify the Necromancer.
Botanya: Give Kamau the Potion of Greater Healing. If you can also do so this turn, pick up the gold on the floor. Otherwise you can do that next turn.
Kamau: Take the Potion of Greater Healing from Botanya. Use it this turn if you can, otherwise hold on to it for next turn.
Lara: Drop the Siege Sword for Botanya to grab next turn.
Explanation: LSN’s dungeon’s consistently have increasing pentalties/complications around turn 40-50. Let’s get out while doing so is still viable, rather than getting greedy.
Next turn Botanya grabs the Scroll to do an enchantment. She can do either the Siege Sword or the Great Axe – both good choices.
I honestly propose the Great Axe (it’s more valuable to have a character who is viable when Kamau is not around than to have +0-2 attack), but this action leaves both options open
Is it possible to sacrifice the shrooms to heal the PC’s while infected? Maybe it’s better to make sure to sacrifice them and use their death spores or something to keep them from becoming zombie shrooms.
Definitely an option. But there’s worry their infection will transfer over to the others. Also we’d like to see them grow into bigger guys after this dungeon.
