Dungeon 6 Turn 36
————
Macadamia climbs to the tower after dropping his keys in the living room. Lara then boosts him up to the chest on the ledge, where he finds another wooden stake. He wonders if this room once belonged to a vampire hunter. Lara checks under the bed and finds a gold longsword, which she leaves behind because it’s too heavy and also bad. Ricki puts on the bat hide armour. Lara tells her it looks cool and Ricki isn’t sure what would be a cool thing to say in response so she just sweats a lot instead.
Everyone then gathers to watch the pet duel.
“Fufufufu… You may think your GUARD DOG has the advantage here, but what sort of PET MASTER would I be if I wasn’t also a master of PET ITEMS?”
“My VENOM BAT’S scarf doubles its already significant aerial evasion! Combined with its naturally high ATK stat, it can whittle down even the mightiest PETS!”
“Prepare to taste defeat!!”
Daisy one-shots the bat.
“I cannot deny that I have been outmatched. Well played, PET TRAINER.”
“Can I have the thing now?”
“Such is the victor’s prerogative!”
“I have a choice of two rewards for you. One is a SPIKED COLLAR, a fine PET ITEM for any canine PET.”
“However, you may be interested to know that in additional to being a PET MASTER, I am also a PET BREEDER!”
“…”
“If you prefer, I will give you this PET EGG. So long as one of you carries it at all times, it will hatch into a brand new PET once you leave the dungeon. What sort of PET? Only one way to find out!”
“Let me know when you’re ready to claim your prize.”

I like Egg, we are lacking pets, missed to many already. It’s a chance to catch up a bit.
I know of all people you probably expect me to say take the collar, but I’m team Egg. Daisy needs a little buddy. Plus if this nerd has dog accessories Paws can certainly find something for our best good girl ever.

So, I’m going to keep a record of this, so I can say “I told you so” when Paws doesn’t have a pet item for her. I understand that no one actually cares that this is obviously untrue. But I’m going to say “I told you so” anyway.
To be clear I don’t think Paws will have anything the next time we see them. But I’m sure if we put in a special request they can find something in the future (probably at a ridiculous cost). I also think another pet will be more useful next dungeon then a “Reverse Shock Collar” (because of course if she gets a collar I want to enchant it). Now, if we were to commit before hand to actually creating “The Reverse Shock Collar” I’d be forced to switch teams.
Give it to Macadamia!! My hope is that instead of the traditional bird, reptile, or insect you might expect from an egg, it hatches into a mammal…a baby dire platypus!! Which would be an incredibly versatile familiar and animal companion. I’d imagine that just like regular platypuses, it might have a venomous attack and electrosensitivity (which might translate as good trap and hidden treasure-detecting). Also it would be helpful to have a pet that can navigate through water! It might find valuable objects that can be smiffed!
Imagine, if you will: Macadamia’s pet platypus…named Pistachio.
Omg. This page is also on my favorite page list. Daisy’s expression is just so sweet.
Yeah, adorable 😀 but it wouldn’t be the same without the story bits, like the bat with dizzy eyes, our (somewhat reasonable) worries that it can be dangerous and take a few turns to finish, and OHKO.
Votes for doggy collar here
“IT’S SUPER EFFECTIVE!”
Egg vote from me; Togekiss is legit AF, and I’d love to see something similarly awesome for the team!
Lara: Go to the living room and break a dog skeleton.
Ricki and Mac: Trade equipment. Move to the living room.
Lohk: Go to the living room and break a dog skeleton.
Ricki: Bat Hide Armor, Helmet, Heavy Pick, rope, stake, Ring of Protection 7/7 [5A, 6D]
Macadamia: Magma Shield, Longsword, Leather Armor 4/5 Ring of Aggression [3A, 5D]
If our plan is to have Lara fight the owlbear, it doesn’t matter whether she double moves this turn as long as she double moves the turn after. Might as well use an action now rather than wasting it on a double move. We could have her grab the egg now, but I think we want to wait until later to grab it and we might prefer a slot on Lara for the bed in the owlbear room or the magic scroll in the library.
Keeping a slot open on Mac so he can open the chest the stalkroach is in if we get that room. We want Ricki to standby to murder the stalkroach.
I’m generally in the team murder-that-sneaky-bastard, but I’m not sure if it counts towards the dungeon mission..
Also, do we try further with the safe? Probably after clearing all the harder enemies. But how many attempts do we want to try out? We don’t know how the ‘defeat knights body’ will look like, if it fights back, it shouldn’t bypass armour, but still we may need some health left. And there’s a chance that the body will just lie in the casket and not fight (and we i.e. wooden-stake it a few times), but the ghost will show up every time we hit it.
Otoh, what are the chances that we may open the safe simply after defeating the knight and clearing everything? I find it very unlikely, but what you think?
I think the only way we get the safe is if we open it before the end of the dungeon. My goal is to try to leave the last bat in the entry hall as our final enemy for the door. We’ll have to play around a bit with the rats and other bats to insure this, but I think it’s doable. That would mean that we could kill every other enemy without much issue and then just focus on clearing out any final tasks before killing the last bat.
Additionally: Praise Daisy, of course! Good girl! Can she
take the couch apartsearch the couch? Probably not, we cannot have everything.Basically the plan here is gearing up to rush all smalls into the rat hole here. We can’t know where it leads, so we have to be geared up to fight the kidney pincher and bats if the hole leads there rather than to the rats and stalkroach chest. I’m not sure whether we can safely beat the kidney pincher, but I don’t see any really good options other than trying for it. We are on a time crunch here and if this hole leads to the rats, it’ll suck to have to come all the way back around here with all the smalls geared up for combat just to get to the hole again. Clearing this hole now means we only need to come back up the tower later to grab the pet egg and, if we have room for it, the treasure sword to sell with the rabbit paw. We need to go through the hole that leads to the rats at some point because as of right now there are still 6 lit small skulls. If we kill the three bats with the kidney pincher and the one bat in the entryway we will still be short two, so this hole may not be optional if it leads to the rats, and there’s only one way to find out.
Egg? A bird, reptile or insect. Ain’t gonna be a mammal like the bat.
He’s a Pokemon Trainer so you have to think Pokemon. 😛
Do you know how many mammal Pokemon lay eggs? All of them!
Could be a platypus…
It probably won’t happen, but I CAN STILL DREAM
So… did this Pet Master just talk up his pet a lot, or did it flub a pretty strong evasion roll?
