Dungeon 6 Turn 37
————
The party decides to leave Pet Master hanging for the time being and gather in the living room to rest after their recent victories. Ricki and Macadamia swap their items around again, while Lara and Lohk destroy two more dog skeletons.
Removed for mysterious IP/Comment editing reasons.
Lohk: Wield the broken oxidicer as a symbol of our rust deity and lead the way through the rat hole. If you have a choice in direction in the rat hole, head left. If you land in the master bedroom, attack the kidney pincher in melee. Otherwise target a rat.
Ricki: Follow Lohk through the rat hole and attack with your heavy pick. Same caveat as Lohk on targeting but focusing on a second rat if one is available.
Macadamia: Follow Ricki through the rat hole and attack with your longsword. Same caveat as Ricki on targeting but focusing on a third rat if one is available.
Lara: Double move down to the entry way to prep for an owlbear rumble.
This is the riskiest remaining decision for us. We can’t know which rat hole leads to the kidney pincher, and if we attack from the front it’s likely the dominated dog and rats will attack a single target. So we have to try a rat hole if we want to ambush the kidney pincher, and we might as well try the closest hole first. If this hole leads to rats then we get to take three of them out and prep to open the stalkroach chest next turn. If it leads to the kidney pincher I think our best bet is to ambush him from behind and hope everything works out. I’ve got Lohk and Ricki leading off so hopefully they’ll get targeted over Mac, since he has one fewer defense.
Why’d we leave him hanging? I hope we are not risking the egg’s hatching by not immediately taking it.
I didn’t have us grab the egg now because it takes up a slot and we’ve got a couple places we need to search still. It would’ve taken an action and a slot, and the only one who had both of those available was Lara. I think we are better off keeping that slot on her open so she can search the bed in the owlbear room and perhaps loot whatever is there.
In case we find ourselves going left to the rats: Should we then (i.e. turn 39) risk using Daisy against a rat while she is still under the influence of the candy? (Then remaining there: 2 rats, 1 chest, 1 trap/monster@chest.)
Maybe. I’m just thinking about what our small skulls we have. Currently we seem to have 3 more available than we need to finish the door, and it’s be nice to be able to leave the bat in the entry for last, just for accessibility reasons. Killing all the rats could make that harder if we also have to deal with the bats. I’m sorta thinking killing two bats with the kidney pincher and 3 rats is ideal. But there are probably other combos that work too.
