Intermission 7 Page 2

After finishing their business at the farm and saying their goodbyes, Paws starts leading the party back to the manor. Once again the trip is uneventful. Well, mostly.
“I understand that we’re going in FIRST to secure funds for our illicit activities, but I don’t see why we couldn’t call the Guard AFTER.”
“Besides the fact that most of us are actively hiding from them?”
“Yes, but Mister Paws has all of his shady connections and so forth. Surely we could inform them that there are dungeons to be cleared so they’d hurry over to help those farmers?”
“The Guard wasn’t formed to help farmers, young man.”
“Well, not JUST farmers…”
“They aren’t going to help anyone. When they leave places like that village alone, it’s not because they don’t know about them. It’s because they don’t see anything there worth the effort of protecting.”
“This one would know a thing or two about failing to protect people, I’m sure.”
“…”
“they seem nice”
Macadamia’s idolization of the Guard seems to be getting on the others’ nerves. And Lohk seems even more grouchy than normal. Ricki thinks maybe she should hurry up and make sure they have somewhere they can go to get away from each other before the fighting gets worse.
Looks like Kamau could use a drink. Any chance phase 2 or 3 of the farmstead involves fermentation, and opening a tavern?
One of the manor’s renovations provides alcohol for Paws to sell.
Shack With Still
and i have a running theory that one of drinks it will unlock will help with Kamau remorse. One way or another.
turning to bottle is one of ways people try to deal with trauma.
or drugs.. can we grow drugs? maybe plant lady can help
What is–!? Good heavens, Ricki just means a basic bedroom with a door, first steps first!! And Paws was referring (in jest terms) to a vegetable garden!!
Thank you for this much needed comment, Elmlily. Could we please NOT get Kamau addicted in addition to his PTSD? I know irl persons with that, I don’t need to relive that here. Thank you for caring!
Getting him a small measured amount of alcohol could grant him enough extra def to save him in a pinch. But I agree, if the new drinks carry addiction risk, like the cigarettes, I will advocate for not using them.
The Manor still hasn’t been updated with new renovations, though it has been updated to 3 Labour (since we already got the dungeon payout at the Dungeon Report). The Basement Apartment and Covered Balcony will almost definitely cost 50 like the other rooms. Mac and Lohk get a little more benefit from +1HP since they’re low to start, and Lohk has 4 bond points to go before the second threshold.
I’m curious about what the Garden will be, as it “will bring in more money over time”. LSN has been a little dismissive of Labour. The chicken coop and mammoth pen aren’t obvious either. I6P15 did mention that whoever stayed behind could get started on the garden, not sure if that was just talking about Labour or if we get some mini garden plot for free. The extra dungeon of latency between buying a renovation and getting benefit is rough.
For rooms, I’ll just mention that we probably don’t want to bring Kamau to the Well, which is a cramped underwater dungeon with unblockable damage. If anyone else ever gets temporarily caught up while swimming, that’s Remorse. We lucked out with having Kamau skip the Manor and its randomized unblockable damage.
Except that Kamau could interpose even the Manor’s randomized unblockable damage, so no, we didn’t (assuming we worked that out). He would taken all the damage, which he has ample HP to absorb, leaving us with little to Remorse and no risk of death to anyone.
That doesn’t by itself mean taking Lara instead wasn’t the right choice, but the idea that we “lucked out” by not taking him because of Remorse is simply untrue, because there wouldn’t have been any Remorse anyway.
It wasn’t just the unblockable damage. There was the trap too, and the AOEs. We would never have beat the manor without Remorse.
We ran the calculations over at the Discord and we believe that, actually, Lara’s Tower is the best bet for renovations right now. We’ll be bringing her along to the Well (poison resistance ) so if we build her tower now, we can earn her bond point during the well, and unlock her last bond threshold right away, possibly getting an extra dungeon 🙂
