“Wow! All these people are willing to help us fix the house?”
“It goes beyond just gratitude. Having someone like you out here, in control of a property of this size, is a pretty big opportunity.”
“Here’s what I’m thinking we do, Ricki…”
“You and your friends keep doing your dungeon-crawling thing. You keep finding treasure and magic items, which I’ll keep buying from you. With the gold, you can not only buy more gear, but also turn this place here into a safe haven for people like us.”
“Any of your friends that aren’t busy in a dungeon, and any civilians that you can make space for, they can work on setting up less dangerous means of earning money. Growing food and so on.”
“The Empire doesn’t look out for us, so we have to look out for each other. Right?”
“Funny thought coming from a guy whose every service comes with a price tag.”
“If you’d like, you can swing by the capital and check the price tags on similar services. You guys get a huge discount from me.”
“And apparently there’s at least ONE service I DO provide for free. Against my better judgement…”
“Oooh!”
Mail Call!
You’ve got mail!
Six kobold children and counting…the food situation might no be sustainable.
Maybe let’s not take up all the problems of the whole world on us.
Let’s assume their parents have it covered 🙂
Good point, but also where did the extra kobold child come from? Didn’t we only save 5 in the warrens? 2 with the ball, 1 cooking dinner with their parent, 1 in the bed not going to sleep, and then the 1 who needed her dolly? That’s only 5 and there are 6 in the house. How fast do kobolds have kids? If it’s 1 a dungeon we’re gonna have a Malthusian problem soon.
Hmm…. could it be an imperial spy in a disguise?
Maybe the kobold with the pickaxe has a child or relative of his own, but didn’t bring them to the dungeon?
weeeelllllll~, if the pet egg hatches at the end of the dungeon, a kobold egg might do the same. True, we didn’t see an egg taken along with them, when the family was with us, but that was -last- dungeon, meaning they had enough time this dungeon to create and hatch the egg.
Also a kobold lady isn’t limited to what fits into her body, when reproducing, so she could create whole clutches of eggs at a time. We’ll soon drown in kobolds!
… or it is simply some relative that got sent along to the safe haven.
And would you look at Daisy, how happy she is to play with them again! <3 Adorable! <3
This is medieval (fantasy).
Children are a workforce, not resource pit.
