Intermission 3 Page 2

The Imperial Guard seems to be distracted by the volunteer guards at the moment, so Ricki and her crew take the opportunity to quickly dart into an alley before they’re spotted.
Except Lara, who doesn’t seem to be in any big hurry.
“Hey! That alley leads to a dead end! Over here!”
“Oh, thanks!”
“You guys did real good in there. Not a single critter got out since you walked through that door!”
“Uh ah!”
“Did ya figure out where the skeletons were coming from?”
“There was a monster in the cemetery making them, but it’s gone now.”
“That’s great news! I might actually get a full day’s sleep for once.”
“Ah uh uh.”
“He says thanks, and that ya really earned this money.”
“We get money? What’s my cut?”
Ricki receives 10 gold coins.
What is Lara’s cut? So far, we’ve treated gold as shared funds. If Lara teams up with us on a semi-permanent basis, the same will likely apply. If we give her money now, it’ll just be in her inventory, to be spent as she allows (which, sooner rather than later, I expect will be to reader suggestions) so I think the odds of actually “losing” any money this way is low.
I say we give her 2 GP as a show of good faith (not a third (or near-third, i.e. 3 of 10), because she wasn’t present for most of the dungeon).
After finishing off the Faithless, 2 GP sounds fair instead of just a show of good faith.
If gold is pooled, we can pay her with equipment.
Technically, the gold is for preventing the skeletons from escaping (which Ricki and Kamau did), not destroying the Faithless (which in the end Lara did). So yeah, I guess 2 coins is fair.
If we give her 2 GP, I bet we won’t see it anymore, as she’ll surely spent it on cigarettes or something. But I agree that wouldn’t be bad to share a coin or two, just for beating Faithless and encouraging for staying in the team long term (which we know she already is doing, but oh well).
“We get money? What’s my cut?” Let’s see: Throwing Dagger: -5 Gold, torch: -2 Gold, tarnished solar armor: -30 Gold. A third of the earned 10 Gold, rounded up because we are very friendly: +4 Gold. Sum: -33 Gold. Do you want to pay up front, or would you like to pay by working with us in some dungeons? 😉
Weird,you seemingly xan’t reply to old comments…
The Characters page is updated and I have a really bad idea with Lara’s Addicted Ability. If all it does is give a pack of cigarettes at the beginning of each dungeon and there’s no downside, can Ricki and Kamau take up smoking so they can get Addicted too? 😛
Please downvote me into oblivion I don’t want to encourage smoking.Downvoted as requested. 😉
(And because I’m sure there might be future abilities to exploit the mechanics of and why waste our good will on this? =P )
You are thereby downvoted to oblivion 🙂
Cigarettes, booze… Quite the grim, gritty fantasy world here. Imagine the 4Kids adaptation, with Lara’s lollipops and frothy mugs of water.
I definitely hope the status effect from smoking doesn’t go so far as to cost HP. Depending on what exactly is in the cigarette, I could see a similar defense for accuracy trade-off from extreme relaxation.
The one instance of smoking in media which I liked was Mushi-shi, where the cigarettes were more like incense and insect repellent. Maybe attaching religious significance to smoking would help Lara quit…
Ah, nice; unlike rat tails or arrows (or grave flowers, I think) which just show the count with a representative image, gold coins pile up in the inventory slot. That’s good, the single gold coin is pretty difficult to make out in a slot. Maybe a full 20-coin stack will be a little money bag…
Assuming we do get a chance to shop, I’m not so concerned this time about spending every last coin. There were a couple of chests in the last dungeon with gold, so a leftover coin is more likely to stack nicely than e.g. holding onto an arrow which only stacks up to 6. We’ll be filling up Lara’s inventory before too long, though.
Ricki : Do a jig for capitalism
Kamau: watch Ricki with amusement
Lara: hey did anyone hear me about the gold?
Kamau: Tell Lara that while sauntering everywhere might make her look cool and mysterious, it is not highly effective in a dungeon.
Lara: Tell Kamau that bailing out in the middle of a boss fight is SUPER not effective in a dungeon. Good thing a cool, mysterious stranger was there…
Interesting thing. I just noticed that the ‘BOND’ thing is easier for Lara than Kamau. Kamau’s got 3-3-1 while Lara has 3-1-1. Seems Lara is much more motional xD
Jokes aside, this means to max Lara’s Bond it takes 2 dungeon less.
This means, that Kamau’s Remorse hurst even more, as he doesn’t get a Bond if Remorse kicks in.
I think it means that the max amount of bonds she can have are one with 3 heads and 2 with one head, it won’t be easier to max, it will suck forever.
