Intermission 16 Page 6

“Sure, what’s up?”
“Firstly I wanted to both thank and congratulate you for your efforts with the manor.”
“The work you’ve had done here has turned it into one of the finest abodes I’ve ever called home, and that is saying something.”
“I’m glad you like it!”
“I think you understand that I found the living conditions… difficult when I first arrived.”
“And I appreciate all that you’ve done to make my time in your service more comfortable.”
Amadeusz’ gratitude causes his bond level to increase by 1!
“Secondly, I have another little… expedition that I think would be fruitful for our cause.”
“Oh?”
“Yes. I’m afraid that it will be rather dangerous. It will require us to return to the capital.”
“But I earnestly believe that we have the opportunity to change the course of the future events that I spoke of before.”
“…Oh! The elemental thing!”
“Indeed.”
“We should do this as soon as possible! I’ll tell the others!”
“Actually, Ricki, it would be best if you didn’t mention it.”

“What? Why?”
“This is a mission requiring subtlety and secrecy, as well as certain other particular skills.”
“You and I are by far the most qualified for such a task.”
“The others would only slow us down or give us away. All of us will be safer if we keep this between the two of us.”
“I realize that this is a lot to ask, but I hope that by this time I’ve earned some trust.”
“Everything I have done thus far is for the good of you and your friends, and all of those others that you have helped thus far.”
“And this is no different.”
“Please consider it, and let me know if you’re willing to indulge me.”

“Hey Ricki, can I talk to you for a second?”

When it rains it pours…
I think that expression on Ricki’s face is supposed to be deja vu. I hope she’s ready to have that conversation two more times… plus Coccyx needs to thank her for building him a Closet still. Not to mention anything else that comes up during this intermission.
Also, glad I called that Amadeusz would get an extra Bond point out of that! It saves us from having to “waste” a dungeon’s worth of Bond points on him.
Speaking of Coccyx- IIRC, we have three actual dungeons left to do, so THEORETICALLY we could max out Coccyx’s Bond points if we take him to every remaining dungeon (including the one that would result in him being Fired Up). That would net us an extra Bond dungeon’s worth of loot and an upgrade for him, at least, though whatever special level up ability he unlocks for Ricki might not be accessible.
Lohk, sadly, seems to be the only character that’s actually literally impossible to max out at this point. A bit of a shame, but aside from her lack of inventory spaces I think her chronic bad luck (almost dying in the two dungeons we took her to) gave us a pretty good reason to bench her.
Also, we should now have four Bond dungeons we can do. I’m not sure why we didn’t do Mac’s right away, but we should probably tackle all four of them before we do any regular dungeons since Bond dungeons unlock new level up abilities WITHOUT actually granting level ups for completing them.
(in no particular order:)
– The Golem Dump: “a waste dump outside an Imperial production facility. It’s where they put together their golems in large numbers, once they come up with a schematic that works consistently. As far as I can tell, the Guard and the engineers don’t seem to be aware of the dungeon. They just keep dumping broken parts onto the pile. But, and I have to stress this, I’m not actually sure. Sometimes they leave a dungeon alone for a while before they raid it. I’m sure you’ve noticed.” “Expect working golems.”
– The Forest Fire: “So there’s this giant fire elemental wandering loose… I’m not talking about fighting it. See, the Empire seems to have settled on containing it in this one valley, rather than destroying it outright. And wherever this thing wanders, it makes giant forest fires… and, periodically, creates new dungeons. They don’t last very long, but you can see the telltale signs of creatures wandering in and seeming to disappear. Then suddenly, a while later, the thing collapses and a bunch of creatures run back out. New creatures. I’ve got a hidden way into the valley, so if you’re quick, you might be able to jump into one of these things and see if anything useful is popping up inside too. I can’t even pretend that one’s not crazy dangerous.”
– The Library (Mac Bond Dungeon): “It seems that one of the last and mightiest holy dragons made its home in a dungeon. A very old, very large dungeon. So large, in fact, that once the kobolds who lived there were removed, the whole place was sealed up rather than fully exploring it. That dragon, who was no doubt centuries old, turned her home dungeon into a library.” “We can go to a giant dungeon to learn more about kobold and dragon history!” “I’m sure it would be fascinating, but how big of a dungeon are we talking about?” “Maybe seven or eight times bigger than the last one.” “Of course, the actual library part is only on the deepest levels.” “We’ve got enough other allies to keep an eye on the manor for a while. All of us will go with you. If we keep all the monsters in the upper levels busy, the two of you can focus on searching the library.”
– The Sunken Ship: “I’ve learned the location of another old dungeon. It hasn’t been hit by the Empire yet because it’s located far out at sea. It’s a shipwreck that would’ve dissolved into the ocean centuries ago if it hadn’t turned into a dungeon. Nobody seems to know exactly who sailed it out there in first place. It’s supposed to be full of undead and short on breathable air.”
– Amadeusz Bond Dungeon: “I’m afraid that it will be rather dangerous. It will require us to return to the capital. “But I earnestly believe that we have the opportunity to change the course of the future events that I spoke of before.” “The elemental thing!” “This is a mission requiring subtlety and secrecy, as well as certain other particular skills. You and I are by far the most qualified for such a task. The others would only slow us down or give us away. All of us will be safer if we keep this between the two of us.”
– Kamau Bond Dungeon: “Hey Ricki, can I talk to you for a second?”
– Botanya Bond Dungeon: to be revealed
Given how amad has different bond bonuses, lhok may have then too. I still want to bring her to every dungeon though.
I just love when theres more than one beat going on at the same time. Ricki just seems so overwhelmed lol
