As Ricki and her friends leave the temple, they see a fair number of driders are running out behind them. However, they do not seem to be pursuing the party. They instead scatter into the tunnels at random. No spiders seem to be emerging from the dungeon… and no arachnomancers either.

“I know there were a few drow left in there. I wonder if they all got cursed.”

“It seems that way. Perhaps the powers the Goddess of Spiders grants are cursed from the beginning, and all she need do is withdraw her favour to trigger the transformation.”

“Perhaps it would be best to finish them off now.”

“As it is they’ll most likely be causing trouble on the surface before too long.”

“They might… but they might not.”

The Goddess is gone from this place. They’ve lost everything.

But sometimes, when you lose everything, you find something new… and better.

I think we have to give them that chance.

I can’t be the only one that had second thoughts.

The group watches silently until several minutes after the last drider evacuates. Then they turn back and head for home.
