Dungeon 7 Turn 38
————
Lohk blasts the second tomato vine with the last charge in her wand, but this time she gets a weak shot and doesn’t manage to kill it. She gets hit in the face with a tomato for her trouble, but it deals no damage.
Kamau climbs back up the stalk and eats another spear, recovering 1 HP somehow.
Macadamia picks another carrot, then briefly looks at the entrance room (getting an acorn bounced off his head on the way), but nothing has changed there, so he returns to the tree. When he arrives, he finds Ricki there dropping her rope on the ground.
“Did you feed all of the crows?”
“Yeah. I just gave them another onion, and my last tomato.”
“Okay… and what happened?”
“Hm? Oh, they flew away. Left the dungeon.”
“Just like that?”
“…Just like that.”

CROW CALL
Consumable/Treasure
A black whistle etched with the symbol of the God of Crows. Can be used to summon a random magicrow, who will remain hovering in the air near where it is summoned. The magicrow is friendly and will attack hostile creatures with magic, but will not change rooms or locations.
Weight 1, Cost 18
I just noticed ‘consumable’, so it’s only one time usable? Aaw 🙁 But nevertheless, this can be very useful “turret” – bonus damage, not limited to one attack nor one enemy, a magic damage of some element.. and it has some HP/DEF and probably can be attacked or at least AoE’d, so we should keep an eye on that when we use it.
Also, it’s from a god, so it will give Mac +1 Def. Macadamia McTank!
Now, is the TurningOfTime turn 40, or 50? Only 2 turns to see!
Anyways, let’s start with very plain plan with no math behind it:
Lohk – zap the tomato with frost
Kamau – go down the stalk, interpose at potato
Ricky, Mac – move right, go down the stalk, attack potato
Ricky only – make sure you are wielding the torch, not the bow, when attacking the potato
We know the potato is debuffed in light, so any plan to fight the potato beast should involve having a torch out.
Thanks! I somehow thought we have none left.
Only issue with this is that it’s our last torch, and it could break in the fight. As long as the potato beast still dies, that’s fine. Ricki will only do 0 damage with the torch, but she should get whatever fire bonus is, plus the debuff on the potato.
Ricki: Politely warn Kamau and Mac about the web they’re totally gonna forget about, then go right 1 then down to the cave. Attack the tomato plant with your bow and arrow. If the tomatoes drop, and are accessible without coming near the potato beast, load them into your inventory.
Kamau: Make sure you’re using your hilt not your shield, then go left, and use the rope on the ground to get a viable climbing path upstairs into the treehouse where the spider is. Perhaps you’ll loop it over the limb at the edge of the tree house? I’m sure you can figure it out at any rate. One the rope is up, climb it and run headfirst left into the web that you probably forgot about.
Mac: Wait for Kamau to throw the rope up get that all situated and climb up ahead of you. Climb up behind him once you hear his yells of frustration at being trapped in a web, and then attack the web that you can now see because he blundered into it.
Lohk: Ray of frost the tomato plant.
Explanation: This gets us working on the spider chest in a safe way without wasting Ricki’s time to point out the spider web. We should be able to kill the tomato plant with Ricki there helping Lohk, which will net us 8 gold of veggies (5 tomatoes plus the 3 for variety bonus). This should then make the chest by the potato beast safe to access with a torch, or we can kill the potato beast for another 3 gold of produce.
Are we sure we can throw a rope up from below without anything special? Its not like there is a grappling hook at one end.
I’m just worried it is going to waste 2 character’s actions this turn.
I’m not sure, but I’m relying on this language from turn 5 – “While the fight is going on, Macadamia considers the large tree. Although climbing a tree is something that most people could probably manage, this one’s limbs are too large and its bark too smooth to allow for a good grip, particularly at the part where you’d have to dangle upside down. If anyone’s going to reach that treehouse, they’re going to need a rope or some other way of making it easier to climb up.”

Maybe attach rope to spear and throw it at the roof/tree.
TNIM, the ground likely tremble again at the top of T40. Perhaps we should specify Lohk to get out of the stalk now?
All of the ground trembling has happened at the end of turns so it should be safe.
I’m so sad the Crow Call is single-use. Would have been such a cool item to keep and use if it was a reusable-once-per-dungeon kinda thing but as it stands, it’s probably more useful as a 18-cost vendor fodder. 🙁
That’s the problem with all of these fun god items. We ended up using the hearth, but honestly we probably would have been better off selling that too if we’d had a good plan to get by without its defense. Every other god item has just been sold when found.
And one wonders what Paws is doing with them.
Would be funny if way later we suddenly have to fight a rich boss that has all the god items we sold. I would assume paws does sell them
… You know what?
We could try to use it at the manor. That way we would get a “permanent” sentry to help us fight off any would-be-invaders, or at least spot them easily.
LSN nixed that in Discord, sadly.
Awww.
“but it deals no damage.” – People, please, for the sake of Kam’s level up: Interpose!
