Dungeon 6 Turn 52
————
Lohk and Macadamia return to the master bedroom, using the rat tunnel to avoid walking past that dog that’s still alive apparently. Macadamia quickly chugs the potion of shield on the floor, then returns to the library.
Lohk looks around at the room. Does Ricki really want to live somewhere like this? With big stuffy chairs and beds and… and ARMOIRES? Their ancestors lived in tents for thousands of years, and it was good enough for them. Bah.
Lara keeps waiting around in the tomb for the knight to come back, which she assumes he will because of vampire rules. That’s how vampires work, right? That guy is a vampire, right? Yeah, probably. She takes a look inside his sarcophagus, but it appears to be empty. She decides this is boring and heads back to the basement to find the knight.
Ricki runs through the door with a single HP remaining. Things are getting pretty dire in this place all of a sudden!
But Ricki won’t give up! This knight may be strong and surprisingly smart, but it’s not stronger and smarter than her friends!
She uses her Grit ability to recover to 3 HP.
So, the knight is not so “actively seeks out opponents”, but can make a pit-stop to collect/use something. Or to target some further target(s), like Mac, Lokh or the dog (maybe, in some combination).
Or to go hide and wait for turn 55.
Upd. I just remembered about the safe. Maybe, it knows how to open it and wants to use its content.
I think he’s messing with the painting.
EDIT: Or the safe, yeah.
Lohk: hide inside armoire.
Lara: move towards entrance. Attack knight with your greataxe on sight.
Ricki: move to kitchen, Drop all lockpicks, pick up grave flower, ring of aggression, bucket (put it on) and stake (wield spear for now, however). (even if Knight is at the kitchen, current Ricki atk won’t make a difference)
Mac: Move to kitchen, drink healing potion.
Hiding inside the armoire, which LSN took effort to focus for us this turn, forces the knight to waste an action opening it, buying Lohk another Turn.
Neither Ricki nor Mac can damage him right now. Mac must arm himself. But he will pass the knight on the way. He must heal up. So Ricki will arm up instead. Also getting extra defence for now, because she can’t heal anymore. She can drop the bucket later if it isn’t needed.
Lara must locate him and attack. This MIGHT end this now.
We don’t know if or what the Knight took from the floor. Dude may be wearing the shield and the ring of aggression. Ricki is safer letting Lara scout and engage the Knight first. Let her open the door and the chest.
Normally I would agree. But the knight is being so unpredictable. I think we must fight to kill ASAP.
We actually want Ricki using her shield not the spear!
Huh…goblins are nomads? I thought they lived in caves or villages.
Keep pouring on the damage to the knight, he’ll die. Or…whatever undead do when their hitpoint total goes below zero.
Are we feeding something to the dog who is an obvious choice to become a pet and is better than the dog we already have because it’s in a higher level dungeon and is palette swapped?
Dog: Nope, the knight put Paws to flight before we could by a juicy steak and a nice ball. (And what do we get from befriending a dog when we are killed in the process? Time is critical!)
Okay so potential issues. The knight could maybe be using items from the loot pile. He was originally presented as using a two handed sword, but he’s been using it with one hand since then. If he can wear armor despite his sprite looking like it has armor, he could have 10 defense now from the rusty chain and shield. He could also have grabbed the ring of aggression and the cigs. Our previous best guess for the upper bound on his damage was 8, given his behavior with using the unblockable attacks on us and our armor totals. It could even be less than that, but if we can build off of 8 damage as the base before any buffs we can try to make this safe. If he does 11 damage from the cigs and the ring for 1 attack, then the only conceivable way we can try to make this safe is with web binding. Mac would live through 11 damage if he drank the potion this turn, and in order to attack anyone else but Lohk the knight would have to pass through Lara. Web binding this turn would reduce the knight’s max possible defense with armor and such to 7 on this turn, and 8 on the next. With 8 defense, we’d need to try to guarantee 13 damage on the knight to kill it. I don’t think this is possible, particularly if we end up fighting in the kitchen because night eyes may not work there. Ricki and Mac would contribute at most 4 damage, and Lara would do either 7-9 or 8-10.
I bet He just took the ring of aggression that we rick has dropped
Dead knight “thank you my dear for the gift”
Lara: Move towards the entrance. If your old cigs or shield aren’t in the kitchen any longer, web bind the knight on sight, otherwise attack him with your greataxe.
Macadamia: Run to the kitchen and drink the potion of healing.
Ricki: Unlock the tomb door and then run through the rathole in the basement.
Lohk: Use mom senses to travel to Ricki, avoiding the knight and any other enemies along the way because I really want to believe that’s what obstacles are. Hide in a chest in the rat hole.
I put a conditional in here for Lara, but essentially this should get us set up to try to kill the knight next turn. We don’t know where it is, but in the absolute worst case scenario for its stats it could now do 11 damage in one attack and have 10 defense. Web binding it if any equipment is missing will mean at most that’ll be 8 defense next turn. It’s hard to say whether mom senses actually let Lohk avoid damage from enemies between her and Ricki, but given we don’t get to pick the path she takes, I think it has to. Next turn, assuming the knight is in the kitchen, we’ll be able to attack it with Lara, Ricki, and Mac for 11-13 damage. At 8 defense, that’s 3-5 damage, which may not be enough. I don’t see any realistic way of getting more damage onto it and also getting Lohk to a safe place unfortunately.
Please ignore my other comment and vote on this one. I made a blooper on the other one and can’t edit it now.
