Dungeon 6 Turn 50
————
Ricki joins Lara in the fight and jabs the the undead with her wooden stake. Both the stake and her grave flower wither away in the process of dealing massive damage to the knight. However, the creature still stands. It hits Ricki for 1 unblockable damage, but also glows briefly with spectral energy…
In the kitchen, Macadamia sells the encyclopedia, since it never ended up being useful. He then buys another two sets of thieves’ tools and a healing potion, leaving them all on the ground. The spectre then appears once again and makes a surprise attack against him, reducing his maximum HP once again.
“Welp, good luck with that. I’ll see you guys later hopefully.”
Paws leaves the dungeon. Somehow.
Lohk returns to the library and attempts to move one of the bookshelves, but it seems the rest of them besides the bottom middle shelf are all bolted to the wall.
Ricki: Head to the kitchen and pick up the three thieves tools. Drop your ring of aggression for Mac to collect later.
Macadamia. Move to the library and trade inventory with Lohk. Layout below.
Lohk: Trade inventory with Macadamia.
Lara: Punch the knight in his dumb face. Literally punch. Do not use the great axe. Use your night eye and ring of aggression empowered fist.
Layout post trades:
Macadamia: Magma Shield, Wolf Hide, Empty Slot, Ring of Aggression
Lohk: Cane, Enchantment Scroll of Shock, Pet Egg, Purse, Broken Oxidicer, Silver Ring
Explanation:
This gets Ricki set up to loot the chests/unlock the tomb, and gets Mac equipped to be able to help Lara finish off the knight on turn 54. We know the knight currently has 1-5 hp based off the damage we’ve done to it thus far. To guarantee we can finish it off we need to do 10 damage, and it seems like the best way to do that is to get Macadamia geared up to help fight while Ricki unlocks the tomb door and chests. Next turn we can have him drink the shield potion from the master bedroom, and that combined with these defenses will push him to 8 defense. Lara does a minimum of 8 damage on her own, so as long as Macadamia gets the additional ring of aggression from Ricki, he’ll be able to kill the boss with her by adding two damage with his fists. Importantly this continues the trend of forcing Macadamia to kill our bosses for us, and I know we all love a motif.
As for the boss, we know the boss does no more than 8 damage, because if it did 9 damage it would’ve hit Lara and Ricki with an AoE to do 1 damage to each of them. Instead it chose to do 1 unblockable damage to Ricki, which should make the 8 defense on Macadamia perfectly safe.
Well, now we know that the spirit will still attack. We just got lucky with Lohk.
I like the idea of finishing the knight on turn 54 but giving us a chance at the chest behind the locked door. Since the stake and flower are now gone, we also have room on Ricki to loot whatever is in the chest.
Roadmap of future turns:
T51: Ricki go grab lockpicks. Drop ring of aggression for Macadamia. Lara punch knight. Macadamia go meet Lohk and exchange inventory. Lara at 4 hp if she is attacked. Macadamia: Magma shield, wolf hide, empty slot, ring of aggression Lohk: Scroll, Pet egg, purse, oxidicer, cane Ricki: Bat hide, spear, shield, thieves tools, thieves tools, thieves tools, ring of aggression.
T52: Ricki unlock chest and probably specify that Ricki drops the thieves tools when she unlocks the chest so she has some chance to pick up whatever the loot is. Lara punch knight. Macadamia go to master bedroom by blue dog to check its aggression then drink shield potion, end turn in library. Lohk nothing I guess? Lara at 3 hp if she was previously attacked.
T53: Ricki unlock tomb door, end turn in basement. Macadamia move to kitchen from library and pick up ring of aggression and one other item to fill slots. Lara loot tomb chest. Lohk check chair for coins if blue dog was friendly or alive? Lara at 2 hp if previously attacked.
T54: Macadamia move to tomb and engage knight. Lara engage knight. Ricki loot last basement chest. Lohk ? Lara ends turn at 1 hp if attacked. Mac ends at 1 if he’s attacked instead. (edited)
If we go with this, assuming Ricki isn’t attacked this turn, we’ll get access to all of the chests except the one in the alcove. We will not get to try the safe again, but given we can’t be certain we’ll have the right combination and we only get one try, I think it’s better to guarantee we can access locked chests instead.
Regarding the safe, if we eventually send anyone to try it out, I think the only combination worth trying is the one with ‘rats’ taken literally – the “small rats” – without any additional words like blood/dire/plague – because the smallest rats are simply named “rat” on the enemies page. I think this is actually quite good guess. Not my idea, someone suggested it around last time we tried to open it.
We can’t try for the safe unfortunately, because if we’re wrong it pushes Macadamia to 1 health and makes it impossible for him to help Lara on turn 45. We could choose to give up on a basement/tomb chest if we want to have Ricki attack instead, but we only get one shot at the safe and there’s no guarantee we’re right with 5.
Scrolling down to that second panel made me sweat. Anyway uh, Lohk is alive for now, yay!
Random idea – should we take a look into the casket? He walked out of it, but maybe there is something interesting inside?
Could someone tell me what keeps the dead knight from following and hitting Ricki?
If it can do this then it should be finished the following turn.
It can do this, but it would mean ignoring Lara completely and thus far it has fought whoever attacked it.
