Dungeon 6 Turn 48
————
Lohk continues up to the secret rat room and kills one of the two remaining rats, while Daisy kills the other. She immediately gets an ominous feeling…
Macadamia returns to the kitchen and picks up one of the two wooden stakes and one of the three grave flowers. He also drops his one gold coin into the purse on the ground, which now contains 18 coins total.
“Hey. Did you just feel a frigid wind blow past?”
After dropping off some of their redundant gear and arming themselves with a helmet and flowers, Ricki and Lara stand ready at the door to the tomb as the last two skull icons go dark. The door vanishes. A sinister aura can be felt emanating from within.
We’re going to need to pickup what we want to keep soon. Once we take out boss dungeon Ends and we lose everything on the floor
Yeah a little late for that unfortunately. Nobody has room or time because we elected to grab grave flowers instead.
Yeah, I’m not thrilled about the timing, but we were essentially committed by the last few Turns of actions and there just wasn’t a way to fix all of it. If there had been, someone would have come up with it and we’ve have gone with that instead.
Most of the loot on floor is literally trash, with an in-dungeon resale value of less than 10gp total, so we don’t care about that. The only things that really matter are the purse, the scroll and Oxi.
Lohk was supposed to drop her armor in the kitchen for Mac, but couldn’t because the extra Mov needed made it impossible for her to reach the rats in time. That would have left her with 4 empty slots, exactly enough for all 3 of those items and the egg. That’s how close we were to not having any of these concerns at all, but it just wasn’t possible.
So instead, Lohk only has 2 slots free, which means the egg and the purse. Mac, however, will be leaving the fight after one Turn and will have 2 free slots then because both the stake and the flower will have been consumed, hopefully allowing him to grab the last two critical items, and drop his armor to take the more valuable encyclopedia as well. We already had two Turns we could have sold that in and didn’t, so we are where we are.
I see Oxi is apparently now on Lohk, but it wasn’t in her inventory when I looked over the weekend, so I thought it was on the floor still. That’s a slight help, but really only matters in terms of who takes what and when: I’d much rather she swap it for the purse when she gets back to the kitchen.
If we’d ignored the grave flowers to take loot instead, people would be screaming about how stupid it was to forfeit Atk and Def bonuses going into a bossfight, and they’d be right to: we can’t prioritize gold over characters.
HELL YEAH LETS DRACULA THIS EVIL DEAD KNIGHTLY NERD
Whelp. We now don’t have the scroll of lightning enchantment or the purse or the pet egg. Also no clue what the tomb looks like, so giving actions to Ricki and Lara will be “fun” given we can’t really use conditionals. If the knight is out and he leaves the tomb, guess what, Ricki will miss lensing him as she moves into the alcove.
Can’t do everything right. Remember if everyone gets out alive we all still get a freaking manor to live in! Assuming we aren’t betrayed or otherwise ran off.
We could’ve just stuck to the plan we decided on starting turn 46.
Did that leave us with enough time to enter the crypt, remove the lid and stake the knight before T50? Do we still have time to do that? Honestly asking.
We do not know that the lid has to be removed from the coffin. That we have to do so was entirely speculation that we invented last turn. Even if we did want to do that, there was no reason to equip three grave flowers at the expense of several valuable and important items. Giving Lara a grave flower boosts her defense only for the first turn. We could have achieved the same defenses on every character by just giving Lara two grave flowers and Mac the helmet, leaving an additional space to hold an item. The fact that we’re seeing an ominous aura emanate from the tomb, if anything, indicates there was no need to open the tomb last turn. Does an ominous aura seem like the boss is still sealed to you? Also equipping Macadamia last turn does basically nothing. He isn’t going to fight this turn, so we could’ve at least sold something last turn and equipped him this turn. Even selling the extra leather armor would’ve been a better use of time than what we did.
I’m not concerned with what treasure we have at all at this point, unless it’s immediately usefull to kill enemies or protect the party.
Yes we don’t know a lot and are making the best assumptions we can to keep everyone alive. That’s kinda the point and challenge of the comic in my opinion.
If the plan in T46 didn’t allow for a selection of buffer actions to take place in the Tomb on T49 then I’m glad we didn’t follow it.
The aura doesn’t mean anything to me in regards to if the lid is till on or not.
The point is that we followed a slapdash plan that wasn’t even the best way of getting everyone protected nor in any way helped to ensure Lohk’s safety. We’re still going to be in this dungeon on turn 50, and for all we know there’s going to be a ghost attack then regardless of what we do. There may be a ghost attack this turn now that the tomb is open.
For all we know John Cena might appear and pull us all out. Playing in the shop until T50 was a worse plan than this slap dash one.
Well, the most upvoted plan as of right now doesn’t even have Lara trying to open the coffin, so mission successfully failed on that one. I will laugh if we threw away valuable items and a chance to open at least one more chest just so we could not even do the thing we threw those items away to do. Macadamia’s entire turn last turn was a waste based on the top plan, and we won’t even have the option of using him in combat if it turns out to be necessary. We’re risking the death of Ricki just to avoid an imagined chance of a 25% risk of Lohk dying. That’s insane.
No I’m against that. I’d prefer Mac to head down equipped to stab Rapunzel (because I’m assuming his comb over has continued to grow in his long sleep). I’m just more against not being ready to flip a lid and stab a beatch next turn.
Then make a top level comment. Comments under top level comments are ignored for planning purposes.
Your starting to sound like you are taking this a little personally. Calling out and laughing at failures and at things you disagree with just ruins all the good will and fun.
Yep, the flower/helmet rearrangement would have been better.
As you know, that was in fact the original plan and was changed in response to feedback on Discord. You’re right that I should have stuck with it as-was, and that’s on me.
None of which helps us with where we are right now, which is a much bigger concern than any of the many mistakes we’ve made so far, so let’s worry about that instead for now. 🙂
Makadamia: open both chests
Lock: run such far as you can
Lara & RIcky: fight!
Lohk get egg.
Mac: drop grave flower and stake, pick up the purse and scroll
Lara: web the knight if he’s up
Ricki: lens the knight
(Lara and Ricki go into the grave room)
Might have to spend actions to physically remove the lid. It might take more than 1 person to remove lid too, but I doubt it. If the lid is close I say we have the alternative of
Lara: Remove lid
Ricki: Splinter the Knights Heart
Getting the Lid off and the dude stabbed by end of T49 is best case to keep specter from getting Lohk, isn’t it?
And if the knight isn’t something you just stab, but is instead a boss? Seems crazy to send Ricki in without any idea what the boss does. What if it gets buffed in darkness? Presumably it attacks whoever attacks it, so if Ricki is the only one to fight she could take so much damage that she’d die next turn when we try to have her retreat. Seems bad to risk losing the game to try to avoid a 25% of Lohk dying.
So Ricki remove lid if need be and Lara Stab sleeping beauty.
Why do you think the knight is sleeping?
Because we haven’t heard or seen him rapping or break dancing yet.
Yeah my assumption is that the knight is just a skeleton we can kill so this is the better option
If it turns out we need Mac to fight, it will be impossible to use him before turn 51 with this plan. We’re definitively sacrificing 6 damage on the knight by dropping items on him now.
If Ricki and Lara are unable to kill the knight with their two attacks on turn 50, we will have no additional resources to dedicate to the fight. It’s likely going to be dangerous for Ricki at least to spend any more than one turn in the fight with the knight, so we should probably avoid disarming Macadamia until we are certain his damage isn’t necessary.
Ricki: Head to the alcove above the tomb and lens the undead knight. Return to the basement afterwards.
Lara: Enter the tomb and attack the undead knight if he’s there. Open his coffin if he isn’t.
Macadamia: Do literally nothing because there’s nothing you can do given how we set you up.
Lohk: Go grab the pet egg from the pet master if he’s still there. Afterwards move as close to the kitchen as you can, which should be the living room.
This is a terrible plan, but there’s not really any other option given how we set ourselves up. Hopefully Lara doesn’t just one shot the boss, because then we lose the purse and the lightning scroll, after already having lost 22 gold by not selling any of the items we dropped.
Lohk: go to pet master, get pet egg, start moving in the direction of the kitchen
Maca: drop leather armor, grave flower and stake, grab encyclopedia, purse and scroll. Try to sell emcyclopedia.
Ricki: go in the direction of the alcove, lens undead knight as soon as you see him or whatever came out of the coffin, return to basement afterwards.
Lara: Rush into tomb door to your left, fight undead knight or whatever came out of the coffin as soon as you see him, even if you have to open the coffin for it to show up.
This is the only plan that gets us close to where we would’ve been if we’d waited to open the tomb. It does mean there’s basically no way Macadamia is going to participate in this fight, which is dangerous given he’d add 6 damage with the stake and his ring of aggression.
Yeah, we’ll have to reevaluate when the lensing is done.
Lohk: go to pet master, get pet egg, start moving in the direction of the kitchen.
Maca: go into the basement.
Basically the same as Siv’s plan, but without tying Mac up for 2+ turns shopping and collecting loot. This way he can actually participate in the fight, since he already has a stake and a flower specifically for that. Lohk will collect the purse next turn, but the scroll is going to come down to luck.
Mac’s ?6? ?7? damage will likely be the difference between the knight taking X turns to die vs X+1, thus allowing for another turn’s worth of damage to Lara or Ricki, which we’d prefer to not have.
Option B:
Lohk: go to pet master, get pet egg, start moving in the direction of the kitchen.
Maca: drop the grave flower, pick up the purse, and go into the basement.
This reduces Mac’s stake attack by 1, and his Def by 1, but guarantees we get to keep the purse, which is by far the most valuable item currently on the floor.
