Dungeon 6 Turn 43
————
Lara rushes through the now-open door to the master bedroom, her shield held high. She blocks all damage from the two rats and the canine, but barely deals any damage to the dog with her Venomous Sting spell.
Ricki, Lohk, and Macadamia sneak through the rat tunnel and ambush the weird crab-headed thing. It unleashes a wave of mental energy that hits all of them, but they manage to tank the damage. However, they become stunned and unable to act on the following turn. The crabhead dies from their combined attacks.
The three bats immediately disappear in the puff of blue smoke when the crabhead dies, but not before they attack Macadamia. He takes 2 damage.
The blue light leaves the eyes of the creatures Lara is engaged with.
That was a close call for Mac. He needs to heal asap. But yay killing crabhead!
Lara: Search the cupboard.
Stunning 3/4 of the characters made thinking of plans for this turn easy! 😛
So it’s loot underneath the bed then? Or does it only trigger a monster if someone actively looks underneath it?
The rat swarm was alerted by a trap going off but the centipede had to be searched for
So Lohk needs to heal Mac on turn 45 to stop him from dying to the specter if he’s targeted. That’s a bit of a shame but it’s better than him dying.
Too bad that Daisy (who is not stunned) cannot run to the kitchen (3 rooms), fetch the healing potion (1 action), return to Mac in turn 45 for him to consume the potion. Lassie could have done it.
Lara: Switch back to your battle axe and attack a plague rat.
Lohk et al: Be stunned.
We’ll need to burn Lohk’s heal on Macadamia as soon as she’s no longer stunned, otherwise the specter will kill him if he’s targeted. It’s a waste of 1 hp of healing if he isn’t targeted, but we can’t risk him dying. We’ve confirmed that Lara in a shield takes 0 damage, so the most damage she can take by attacking a plague rat should be 2, which is surviveable. Plague rats do 3 damage we think, so this would make the full encounter at most 6 damage (if the dog does 3) which would in turn allow Lohk or Ricki to participate in later turns if necessary.
Does it do damage, or just reduce MAX HP?
It does both 1 point of unblockable damage and reduces max hp by 1. In practice this means that the gap between max hp and current hp remains the same, but in the case of Mac he’d die at 0 hp, so the 3 points of healing would first heal the 1 point of damage, then the remaining 2 would get him to the new max of 2.
Things to do list:
Kill 2 rats
Kill dog and 2 dire rats
Kill bat.
Open safe
Get pet reward.
Pick up the loot we want to keep
Kill boss.
And loot wardrobe and last bed.
I think we have no lockpicks so we can’t unlock anything else
Turns are getting tight. I wouldn’t loot anything that could spawn mobs and re-light skulls. Except for the safe.
What would that be? There aren’t any more undiscovered monsters. Please remember all hidden monsters show up on the door, such as the rat pile and centipede. It’s only when a new monster spawns, like rats from a rat pile, that skulls relight.
Ah I didn’t realize hidden monster showed on the door. I thought they re lite skulls like the rats out of the swarm
We may not need to kill rats or the bat. It’s unclear to me what the bats with the crabhead even were. Were they real bats that got hit by the Aoe? Were they real bats who took damage when the kidney pincher died? Our counts on skulls are STILL off even if those bats weren’t “real” unless the kidney pincher itself didn’t count. Last door visit was 3 small, 3 medium, 1 large. We killed 1 medium (the centipede), plus the kidney pincher, and have 3 small enemies around the map still even if the bats didn’t count. The plague rats should both be medium given the dire rat was, but that still leaves the dog and kidney pincher unassigned. One of them has to be large, but whatever the others are they’ll be more than we need for any given category. It’s just weird.
