Dungeon 6 Turn 22
————
Lohk returns to the kitchen and eats the last piece of cheese off the floor. Delicious. Lohk is now back at full health, or at least as full as she can get at this point.
Lara returns to the entrance and eats the second steak. She enjoys this one quite a bit more since it’s been lying in her pocket instead of on the ground. Though, after thinking about it, she suddenly doesn’t enjoy this one that much either. She has been restored to full health.
Ricki busts the skeleton’s skull and sword with a single blow, then finds that her oxidicer has been restored to its full power! Neat! She still takes no damage.
Macadamia flips through the remaining books on the lower level of the library. Most are blank, but he does find a very brief passage of text in one:
“Rats, Locks, Ladders”
He has no idea what it means, and he is honestly baffled that this is the only thing he could find to read on this entire shelf.
Now does the ratpile count as a rat? If so, we might have to search all the monsters under the beds. At least locks and ladders are constant
I honestly don’t think so because I think the code means to count all VISIBLE instances at the beginning of the dungeon. There was no guarantee we’d ever look under the bed.
Having said that that would change the count to 10.
Or counting just the small rats would make it 5
There’s no guarantee we’d ever consider taking off the painting either, isntit?
I think it’s number of visible instances at the beginning of the dungeon. I don’t think the rat king counts, although I totally could be wrong.
Combo is 9-11-16.
Assuming we count all visible rats, not squirrels. And all locks including chests and doors.
Feel free to double check me. But we’ll have to agree on numbers before we shoot for the safe.
Sounds reasonable. Assuming the safe’s dial covers such numbers. It has only 10 lines, so it could be only 0-9 or 1-10. In that case, we could try number of letters – 4,5,7
16 ladders – check. Unless the Tower’s ladder counts twice. It might be counted as 1 ladder in a lower room, and 1 ladder in the upper room. Then it’s 17. But I doubt it.
Where did you get 9 rats? I see only 7 on CombatDoctor’s map (5 small rats, 2 were rats near squirrels). Do you count squirrels as ‘rats’ as well? They are rodents, but I wouldn’t call them rats. I wouldn’t count Kapybaras as ‘rats’ either, and these are rodents too. It’s quite far shot IMHO. I’d count anything with clear “rat” in its name instead.I didn’t notice green rats by the dark-blue dog.11 locks – check. 7 doors, 4 chests. I don’t think magic door and the safe counts as ‘locks’.
I second the “number of letters”.
Two plague rats with the weird dog, two dire rats were with the squirrels, and 5 regular rats with the stalkroach chest = 9.
Whoooooooo they are GREEN. What a camouflage xD
Thank you!
Honestly 7 was my first count as well. I had to go back cause I forgot those two dire rats in the tower by the squirrel chests. But it seems to be nine visible at the beginning of the dungeon.
I think we should make a note to add the bats and squirrels to the rat count if the regular rats total is not part of the combination.
I know this is extrapolating what the clue says, adding an unnecessary layer of difficulty, but just in case we should note that bats might be counted as “flying rats” and squirrels were in the sewers under the command of a King Rat and some poeple here even referred to them as “pancake rats”.
I think you are confusing squirrels with beavers, but the rest of that seems sound.
To be clear, the pancake rats in the sewers were beavers, not squirrels. This dungeon is our first time seeing squirrels, which is why we were ridiculously over cautious with them.
Squirrels are rodents, but are quite far from ‘rats’.
And while bats are sometimes called ‘flying mice’, they are totally not rodents.
Ricki: Attack another skeleton using your fists. Keep the oxidicer for now.
Macadamia: Attack the same skeleton as Ricki.
Lohk: Return to the entry way and get boosted by Lara. Try the combination 9, 11, 16 on the safe. If that’s impossible or fails, try 4,5,7 for the number of letters in each word.
Lara: Boost Lohk then move to the upper level one screen right where the skeletons with the dog are. If you still have an action, attack the skeleton dog. Otherwise stay on the left and do not engage.
9/11/16 is the number of rats, locks, and ladders as counted by the discord (more explicitly Hologram Golem). I double checked and it seems right to me under the assumption the counts are for enemies/locks at the start of the dungeon.
If it fails, I’d try 7-11-16, as I wouldn’t count squirrels as a rat (rodent!=rat, see Kapybaras). Also, within the game, there’s no ‘rat’ subtype on ‘enemies’, so I’d consider counting only the things with ‘rat’ clearly in their nameI didn’t notice green rats by the dark-blue dog. That isn’t counting squirrels. It’s counting two dire rats from the rat hole, 5 rats from the other rat hole, and two plague rats.
I keep thinking the skeleton dog has a bone blade on its tail, is it just me?
