Dungeon 6 Turn 20
————
The entire party congregates in the entrance room and works together to lift the painting down off the wall. It’s not super heavy, it’s just a matter of lifting it evenly off the hook.
Behind the portrait is a gigantic wall safe, set even higher off the ground. It looks like it will take a short character lifted by a tall one in order to reach and operate the dial, or to open the door. All of that assumes it can even be unlocked, of course.
Suddenly, the gong of a grandfather clock echoes throughout the mansion. It strikes twelve times, which is odd, as it’s clearly still morning, but not nearly as odd as the fact that there appears to be no grandfather clock anywhere in the dungeon.
Suddenly the massive portrait animates! A gigantic version of the spectre which has plagued the party emerges from the canvas, wielding a blade long enough to skewer the entire party at once! Everyone readies their weapons for a thrillingly spooky boss battle…
But instead the ghost just drops a pile of candy in front of Ricki!
Oh, also it bops Lohk on the head for 1 permadamage before disappearing back into the portrait.
“BAH!!”

PILE OF SPOOKY CANDY
Consumable
Eating this entire pile of candy at once restores 1 HP and grants +1 Atk, Def, and Mov for 5 turns. Happy Halloween!
Weight 1, Cost –
THROW THE CANDY INTO THE FIRE! (It’s that gross black and orange peanut butter taffy junk)
Also all the characters looks super cute in their armor. Kinda like a group of trick or treaters
Noooooo we need the HP boost
Trick AND treat, my favorite
Happy Halloween everyone!
It’s November, so the Skeletons are weak again!
Ricki: Go Up and pick the locked door.
Lara: Pick up the candy then go up and pick up and drop the keys at your feet.
Maca: Go up and pick up the Keys Lara dropped.
Lohk: Go right and pick up the Cheese then go join everyone else next to the door. Eat Cheese if you’re not to busy picking up Cheese to do anything else with Cheese.
Explanation: I’m guessing Lara can pick up the Candy and Keys in one turn even though they’re in different rooms because we can pick up multiple items in one turn and moving isn’t part of the action for the turn.
Maca only has 5 Defense, but the odds of him being hit by all 4 Skeletons when everyone is running through is a ~0.40% Chance. (1 in 256)
I know picking up something takes a turn, but I’m still trying to ask for Lohk to eat the cheese because it’s just moving the cheese from her hand to her mouth and she has to move the cheese from the ground to her hand to pick it up. (LSN better have a good, or at the very least, funny excuse if she can’t!)
Having Lohk join with everyone makes it so she doesn’t have to run through the Skeletons before fighting the Owlbear next turn. Also, the Owlbear gets OHKOed if everyone and a pet attacks at once.
I really don’t like this plan. The owlbear isn’t a hard fight and it uses up lockpicks for a door that probably has keys available. We need to kill the skeletons anyway for the door so there isn’t any utility from skipping them like this.
Ricki: Attack the skeleton with the rusty longsword in the library
Macadamia: Drop your keys with the floor candy. Climb up the frame of the big old painting to access the chest on the ledge, then loot that chest.
Lara: Go into the kitchen. Eat the floor steak if that’s possible, if not eat your inventory steak. If you can pick up a steak do that too but I don’t see why that’d be possible.
Lohk: Go eat some floor cheese from the kitchen. If that isn’t possible, pick up the floor cheese. If it’s possible to do both these things or eat two pieces of cheese, do that. Pop your head downstairs to see if anything has changed. Pop into the rat hole just for kicks while you’re at it.
Ricki can safely fight the skeleton group in the library, and it’s possible the one with the longsword will have its longsword break and restore our oxidicer.
I support this but am making an exact similar post except Mac investigates bookshelves
Note your plan doesn’t specify which skeleton Ricki attacks.
This plan also gets us visibility on basically every screen except the master bedroom. Where ever that click was we will probably know this turn if we do this or something like it.
Ricki: attack the longsword skeletons one floor up
Lara: attack the dog skeleton group one floor to the right
Lohk: attack (at range) the dog skeleton group with Lara
Mac: attack the dog skeleton group with Lara
You know you want to watch Spooky Scary Skeletons, so go ahead and do that.

I think it sounds better at 1.5x or 1.75x or 2.0x speed.

Did you notice that the candies look much like a pile of severed goblin heads?
That’s what makes them spooky.
Someone tall and someone short: try to open the safe. We’ve got a ‘click’ from the bookshelve, maybe it’s already unlocked.
But more likely, that ‘click’ unlocked some secret stash with hints for the code?
Also, the safe is not rusty, so Oxidicer won’t chew through it unfortunatelly.
Ricki: Tie the rope to the spider and move to be in line of sight of the chest up above on the shelf. Order the spider to ‘Attack the chest’ using Chase Down
If this works, climb the rope and open the chest.
Lohk: get on daisy and trot over to the kitchen to pick up some cheese on the go and eat it. Trot down to the basement to look around and then go through the rat hole to peek around cause ricki told you to.
Ricki: go up a room and attack that one little skellie with the rusty sword. Wolf spider Hang back and don’t die.
Lara: help ricki kill another skeleton
Mac: I know you hate fighting bud but this’ll be over soon. Help ricki and with killing her skellie. The chance of you getting hit is low and next turn there won’t be any chance since a couple will be killed.
Thoughts here are to start healing Lohk a little and get recon on of that click did anything below. Also tests if we can pickup and use an item. Also gets us a skull count on the door. Time to use that superior movement.
Next round the library skeletons should be easy clean up. We can heal lara, grab keys, maybe open the owlbear door without using lockpicks. Our options expand greatly. But let’s go room by room here.
Wolf spider is just risking death without speeding up the fight. Ricki + Mac kills a skeleton and Lara kills one on her own. If you could make it specific that it’s Ricki+ Mac on one skeleton and Lara on another with no wolf spider I’d support this plan. Wolf Spider could participate the following turn with no risk of death.
Separately, I also think getting eyes on the tower is more valuable than the tomb for scouting purposes/finding the source of the click. If the click was in the tomb we wouldn’t be able to access it until the end of the dungeon anyway.
All good points. Done and done.
Thanks! Upvoted.
