Dungeon 5 Turn 5
————
Ricki reads the sign. It says “Territory of the Goblintown Blues above NO ENTRY”. She now feels sufficiently warned, but Kamau and Lara didn’t bother reading it, so they charge up the ladder following Ricki’s description of the room.
Kamau interposes as the bugbear and two stray dogs attack. The dogs are unusually ferocious, but he is just barely able to deflect their combined attack with his fancy new armour. He sure is glad they saved up all that gold to buy it. With Kamau distracting the enemies, Lara is able to stab one of the dogs in the back and take it out in a single strike.
The dog in the cage watches the battle intently.
Ricki heads to the left to check out what lies ahead.
If anything, this room is even more crowded with weird enemies than the last one! The sign above Ricki’s head as she enters reads “Goblintown Reds Base (be cool or be stabbed)”.
quickie for the room Ricky’s in:
Two flat things on the floor on the lowest level. Some kind of traps or alarms. But there’s two of them, so most likely traps, as one alarm would be enough.
And the chest on the far left. It has a new type of lock.
PS. I just love the star fx flying from the ‘bonk’ on Kamau’s head.
PS2. I just noticed the ‘gray slab’ just in front of the safe and the ‘first chest’ in the room Kamau and Lara are in.. it may be sort of a wall? Moved by the lever? It certainly has a similar color to the safe, so probably metal.
That could be a trapped lock. I say treat it as such
Also, either the magicrows are in league with the Reds (unlikely), or that ape’s chest is about to get looted.
What is the ape holding? A mini crossbow?
The gray slab is weird. If it is a metal wall, it’s blocking both the Reds’ safe and the Blues’ chest. Doesn’t make sense that the Blues’ lever would control access to both.
I don’t see the kid’s dolly anywhere. Is it in one of the chests?
And: If that is a rust monster below Ricki, maybe killing it would open the rust-colored conditional chest? There’s nothing on the map that matches that color, unless it’s down in the mines.
Lara: finish off other dog
Kamau: interpose.
Ricki: avoid both floor traps if possible and check out different locked chest. Go back to other room and join fight if not possible to avoid floor traps.
Ricki: open chest (the one un guarded obviously) and loot it,
Kamau and Lara: Continue
Watch the floor traps or whatever those flat things are.
How much you wanna bet that dog is a potential pet!? :O
Ricky: go down, talk to the kobold (ask him about that giant monster).
Kamau: interpose.
Lara: kill the remaining dog.
Ricki: avoid the pressure plates while doing this.
If entering that room doesn’t count as entering a new room, we should have Ricki come back up, still avoiding floor traps, and take a look at the weird new chest.
forthe record. I think Kamau should get the dog as pet
it just makes sense for an ex-guard to have a dog.
Kamau: Interpose.
Lara: Take out other dog.
Ricki: Go down ladder and talk to the kobold on the ledge. edit: Avoid those two things on the floor between her and the ladder. Ask about the monster. And maybe if they’re the eldest that the kobold in the first room mentioned. Go back up after talking.
Must avoid traps
Edited
Ricki: open the chest nearby while avoid the two small traps
Lara: kill next dog
Kamau: interpose
The lock on that chest looks weird. For the sake of paranoia, I’d rather have Kamau try to open it
There is no hole… How do we get to the lower levels? Unless… It’s hidden behind something… Like that cubbard in the first room. Would make sense since only kobolds were down there
Holes are cardinally aligned, so probably not
Yes, it is quite strange that we can’t go down any further and that hole does not have an exit in the part of the dungeon that we can reach. I thonk we should ask kobolds how to get there.
I also wondered about it. There’s a high chance there’s none, that could be just environment. However, there’s a rat-hole and there’s a ladder down, so tehre’s a possibility that the entrance is shows up after we do something… at the ringsmiff’s? or after scaring off the monster, which burrows and leaves a tunnel? But then, what for? We have to help kobolds, and we already have a few of them to help, so I think the bottom layer is just decoration.
If the hole is in the siffery, the the lower area is a Ricki only zone. We’ll have to split the party again
Ricki and Macadamia-only zone.
I think the lever goes to the grey wall thing, but it might not. Should try pulling it anyway
I have a feeling I’m going to get downvoted for asking this, but what are the odds of the Reds helping if we tell them the Blues are under attack?
We’d have to be more persuasive than that, I feel. But it’s possible they can be somewhat “negotiated” with.
Bloods and Crips have more in common with each other than they do straights like us.
Wait a minute, Ricki’s a thief! Let’s ask the Bloods…er, Reds if they have a mission for us! Steal something from the Crips…er, Blues and gain favor with gangsters!
MIMIC DETECTED! That chest on Ricki’s floor looks like it has a eye for a lock. Consider having Lara Venom Sting it before opening it.
Oh, you think it’s an eye? I considered a trap, or a new type of a lock (like, dunno, lock/pick me twice?). But a mimic, yeah, that’s an option, ESPECIALLY most of the eyes are black squares. Nice catch!
Ricky: please, do not go to the chest without rest of your team.
Ricki: avoid pressure plates and go down ladder and talk with kobold. Ask if there is anything we can do to help.
Lara: kill other dog.
Kamau: interpose
I think Ricki is cool. So is Kamau and Lara
does that mean we can talk with Red base members?
So who do you think is the Red Leader, the ape or Bobo?
