Dungeon 14 Turn 53
————

Ricki and Kamau link hands in an expression of shared determination to forge a path forwards! Kamau recovers 3 HP and Ricki recovers to her maximum health. The beautiful dwarven maiden joins them in the spirit of solidarity!
Botanya lifts Macadamia back to the upper ledge before leaving the room. Macadamia then opens the chest and finds three more tyrant fangs within. He loads these into Golly’s packs.

Botanya attempts to throw a spear at a pressure plate she can’t even see and misses pathetically. She then walks forward and blows up both herself and the spear. She takes no damage.
Plan: To Conquer Death
Yeah, it’s a Trex fighting plan. But before committing to full on combat, we do an experiment.
Ricki: Head to the left side of the screen and trade your Fangs to Kamau.
Kamau: Head left to Ricki and trade your +3 Def Ring to her.
Botanya: Ditch the axe and safely deposit your Bomb upstairs. Pick up the two +2 Atk Rings and Horn. Deposit the rings with the the rest of the atk rings up at the top of the room.
Mac: Head right. Blow the horn on the floor and leave it there. Head left to the rest of the group.
–
Mac is blowing the horn right now to draw the Trex into our locale. Botanya is repositioning the Atk Rings so they can be picked up by Mac later, and is grabbing a Horn to use later. The plan is to cause the Trex to jump up and crash through the ground and allow Kamau to make a powerful, fang boosted melee attack and for Mac to make a fang boosted ranged attack on the Trex, while stacking as many other damage boosts as we can. I want to see if the Fangs will “enable” an attack to deal damage to the Trex, despite the fact the Trex’s statblock says its immune to all damage including unblockable.
I think the Fangs may have a secret property that will let us defeat the Tyrant. I think this because of a few reasons. First, the Trex has Hitpoints and Defense. There’d be no reason for it to have these stats if it was truly immune to any sort of combat. Second, the Kobold Prisoners implied the previous Tyrant Male was killed by the Tyrant Female. Third, the Tyrant’s statblock says its teeth can pierce anything.
Next turn, Botanya is going to blow one of the horns to cause the Trex to jump up. Math below, but Kamau will strike for 23 and Mac will strike for 14, combined to 37, -5 from the Trex defense, which, if the Fangs fully enable an attack, will leave the Trex with 18 hitpoints. Exactly enough for Kamau to chase down the Trex and repeat the attack on the following turn, killing it and claiming our Tyrant Blade prize.
–
MATH
Kamau’s Attack
Base 3 + 1 Shroom Boost + 5 Hilt + 6 Rings + 1 Heroic Effort + 2 Holy Water + 5 Fang = 23 damage
Macadamia’s Attack
Shocktail 5 + 1 Enchant + 1 Death Robes + 2 Atlatl + 5 Fang = 14 damage
–
If the experiment is a failure, and it seems like the Fangs do nothing or not enable the entire attack, then we are only out a couple turns, a couple fangs, a horn and a single hitpoint on Kamau. It shouldn’t impact our other plan to bomb the gate open in any meaningful way.
Good luck, Dungeonites.
“Ricki: Head left.” Um, there is a wall? Ricki can go right or down (or stay here)?
I would lik to draw everyone’s attention to Tyrant and Fang descriptions:
Up to you if you focus on flavor text:
or game mechanics:
but we have never seen item/character properties to be a lie.
Why are we only out 1HP on Kamau if the Tyrant does minimum 5 unblockable to anything it attacks?
Based on D14T31, the Trex will be “attacking” the floor, not Kamau, so Kamau will only take the 1 unblockable splash damage from that.
I’m guessing killing the last Young Tyrant may enable the ability to kill the King, as in making it vulnerable to unblockable. Saving the teeth for later may still have some value.
Plan: go for the hatchery.
To give some choice to voters
Kamau: eat the cake and move left.
Ricki: use gloves to turn invisible. Move down rope, then left. Then right (lower) to where paws was.
Mac: move right. Pickup horn. Drop atatl. Move left after.
Botania: drop axe. Pick up a silver ring of def and the horn
We get eyes on lower room and a horn on Mac to lure king away from hatchery later.
Everyone is in position to move down if the coast is clear.
I’m not opposed to the experiment with the tyrant fangs, but I just don’t want to play with fire and just go for the hatchery
“Drop atatl” – is that temporarily? Because, Ricki has a free space and additionally her 2 tyrant fangs could be combined with the 3 tyrant fangs from Golly, freeing up another space. (Yes, might require a turn.) Also: Why drop the atatl in the right instead of the left room?
Tyrant Fangs only stack to 3 in a single slot. The Atlatl is being dropped in this plan because there wont be a need for Mac to make any more attacks this dungeon, so he’s making room for another 5-Stack of rings that we can sell for A LOT later.
I must say, that was awesome. LSN, just awesome.
I viewed the page at half-height, browser window wasn’t open full-screen, so I basically saw half of an image and had to scroll. Morning laziness I guess.
So, I opened the page, first glance at the top of first image, huge boom, “aw shit”, I thought, “we’ve just exploded on something”, but there was no trap at this place, wtf, second look, phew, just Ricky’s Grit’s special effects.
Scroll. Second image. huge boom. “heh but we have one grit, right?”, checked description, Botanya blowed herself up. AW SHIT, where’s Kamau, did he phase out, oh, he didn’t, Botanya tanked it.
Perfect 😀
Botanya, that looked fun. Do it again but bring Mac with you this time.
