Dungeon 14 Turn 52
————

The salveshell tortoise is so cute and so harmless that the entire party works together to flip it over on its back instead of attacking it again. Kamau then kicks it into the foreground where it can’t be interacted with ever again.
From the items that drop after the battle, Macadamia climbs down from the ledge to load a suit of dragon armour into Golly’s packs. Ricki claims a leathery set of mittens from the giant chameleon. These should be useful! Botanya picks up the dropped battleaxe and spear because she thinks they’re neat. She also uses her Nectar ability to restore 3 HP to Kamau.
Remaining on the floor are two silver rings of aggression, two silver rings of protection, and a heavy shield. The party also leaves behind a tyrant horn, the keys, a set of thieves’ tools, and a birthday cake somebody worked really hard on.

Dungeon Eyes Map
Thank you doctor 🙂
To do (not a plan!)
Ricki: Loot box. (needs Kamau’s or Botanya’s help to get up there.)
Botanya: Boost Ricki upstairs, go left yourself (stop at the pile of things, do not go further, do not spring the trap).
Kamau: Eat Cake, go left (stop at pile…).
Macadamia: Pik up one silver ring of protection and put it into your Ring Box, go left (stop at pile…).
BUT also:
“Goal: Disrupt the source of the elemental reptiles OR defeat the Tyrant Lizard King” (TLK).
– Is there any way we could defeat the TLK?
– To disrupt the source, we would probably need to get to the nest, right?. We switched two levers, but there is that third one behind the blue “crocodilian”. To get there, I see only four ways:
+ Through the room, where the kobolds were imprisoned, using the lever there to lower the floor. We would need the rope from the other floor (turn 29).
+ Through the big, black portal to the very right, where we might encounter the TLK.
+ Disabling/Springing/Blocking (might need thieves’ tools, would need to fetch them) the trap leading to the blue crocodilian and using the rope from the floor (turn 29).
+ Get the TLK to smash the right dungeon elements to give us access. (More a theoretical option.)
Actually, Ricky has enough MOV to be able to loot the box and then go left and just warn everyone about the trap 🙂 It’s not combat, so it’s all just 1 action and 1 mov to go left
Also, the “smash” plan might be good – imagine making the TLK jump and destroy the floor in the room with nest and door. When we sound the horn, either TLK attacks the door, or jumps and attacks the ceiling (but not the door, making a new shortcut for us, straight down from the ladder, we’d need to execute that twice though), or simply nothing happens. Seems safe, as we can hide on the topmost level far to the left. But I guess we’d be screwed because I guess the ladder would be destroyed along the floor, and the only exit would be down to TLK. So yeah, maybe not that safe 😀
Give armor and mittens to Sue
Plan: Operation Blow the lock
Kamau: Grit with Ricki
Ricki: Grit with Kamau. Move left after and point out the trap to botania
Botania: Help Mac back up to the chest. Move left after and throw your spear at the pressure plate. Walk to the ladder after regardless of outcome.
Mac: re-equip your gold ring of attack and store your silver ring in your ring box. Open the chest and put whatever’s inside on Golly. Move left after.
We’re grabbing chest and getting into position to start making our way down next turn.
We also get to learn if throwing a spear at an object counts as a an attack for botania. Might be useful to know later. If she cant throw the spear for whatever reason, then she face-tanks it so its gone either way.
Rough plan for next turn:
Kamau: Eat the cake off the floor. Move left.
Botania: Pick up something of value or trade with mac so Mac gets a horn.
Mac: Trade with Botania for horn or drop something and pick one up.
Ricki: Go invisible and move down to lower levels so we can confirm King’s location.
The plan is to use the rope to make a shortcut from the Feeding room so we can quickly bomb the last lock and pray it works.
If the are going to destroy the lock without flipping the lever (which I get it, moving to face coldcroc in the last room with King on the loose is suicide), maybe we could have more characters blowing the horns above the hatchery as a way to provoke King herself into destroying the gate. This would let us use the bomb on the nest and not the door.
We could try it. but the baby will just keep echoing the call I think. Its not quite the same situation as our other floor destroy blasts have been
Yeah, but King’s description on enemy page is quite clear that she will destroy those doors if she thinks the babies are in trouble. We need those doors destroyed.
If there is one thing I fear is the eggs hatching on turn 60. Not because we will die, but because we might fail the objective.
“If she cant throw the spear for whatever reason, then she face-tanks it so its gone either way”
Do we have some knowledge of what this trap does? In the past I’m pretty sure I remember some traps doing unlockable damage, which would be a serious issue with Kamau already at four remorse.
Pressure plates have either been an arrow trap if a trapped chest is lined up.
Or they explode.
I don’t see a trapped chest and we’ve seen explosive ones already this dungeon.
It’s not 100% safe but that’s why we’re trying the spear trick first
The congenital pacifist thinks weapons are … neat? Yeah, OK, that tracks, actually.
Also, last dungeon LSN told us the Dragonslayer Set was not a real thing, but I dunno, those mittens seem to fit right in. All we need now is the Crociceodile Boots …
Didn’t he also say there no way to revive party members when they die as well?
… unless a card, skill, or other effect says otherwise
Plan: Operation Blow the lock but without risking remorsing out Kamau.
Kamau: Grit with Ricki
Ricki: Grit with Kamau. Move left after and point out the trap to botania
Botania: Help Mac back up to the chest. Move left after and throw your spear at the pressure plate. Stay near the entrance afterwards, don’t go near the pressure plate.
Mac: re-equip your gold ring of attack and store your silver ring in your ring box. Open the chest and put whatever’s inside on Golly. Move left after.
Claudious’s plan but without risking remorse for very little gain.
The gain would have been saving us a turn in case t60 things get really bad
Kamau is really slow. So, is there any reason for him to not both grit as well as to move left?
Cake.
Oh, yes, right.
To someone’s idea w.r.t. saving the bomb to blow up the nest – The nest looks like hay. I think we can just burn it and have a whole basket of cooked eggs.
To someone’s remark about cold-lizard and us being screwed up if we get there – totally agreed. That room looks too easy, just like the Salveshell Turtle room, and cold-lizard’s room has very similar layout. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was another chameleon there.
Or if those three cold-cultists all had horns and made the King fall through the ceiling right to us down there.
