Dungeon 14 Turn 29
————
With the threat of the Tyrant temporarily allayed, Ricki, Kamau, and Botanya gather to finish off the dragon rider that continues to guard the ladder. However, they are unable to do so without casualties, as the brave flytrap is rent in twain during the melee.
The group of enemies leaves behind some spoils: a greataxe, two crossbows, four heavy bolts, and two silver rings of evasion. Kamau picks up the rings, and the rest is left behind for now.
Botanya uses one of her wands to heal Kamau of 4 damage.
Macadamia wonders why he keeps feeling compelled to run around and blow on that horn.
He returns to the second room without having arrived at a satisfying answer.
Ricki: Head up. Attack one of the Miners. Have Daisy attack the Healing Tamer.
Kamau: Head up. Interpose the Kobold battle. Wield Corona you doofus.
Macadamia: Head right, then up to join the rest of the squad. Melee attack the Healing Tamer with your Shocktail.
Botanya: Head up. Join the fight to provide debuffs and light. Summon a Flytrap. Have it attack the Healing Tamer if it can.
I wonder if that huge Tyrant head here means the Tyrant is in the room with eggs, or in the room right to it. We blew the horn on 28th, and it ran down, so at the end of 28th, it should be in the room to the right. Now 1 mov to bark on the kid, 2mov back right, so now at the end of 29th, Tyrant should be now right in the room with lightning lizard? This means that it will end its next turn, 30th, right “here”, in the room with centipedes, where we’ve just K.O.’d the kobold.
edit: — blahblahblah,snip —
uhoh.. that ended up way longer than I intended.. in short:
My point about the option for Mac to go left&down is – if we have all our guys up there, we have no eyes on the bottom. On the next turn, T30, our party will go up the ladder, and we’ll probably see Tyrant arriving here in the last moment. But what’s next? Will it stay and wait for us? will it continue patrolling? with all eyes on the upper levels, we won’t know.
Mac will be needed for combats, with Kamau doing its best as a damage sink, like in Sick’s plan. I wonder, do we even need eyes on the lower levels? If we want to go back down, we might blow the horn, and do a BennyHill run in blind. At worst, we’ll get bitten once while we pass the Tyrant running past us.
It is true that we won’t have eyes on bottom floor but we will just have to guess when king is away and send kamau to scout. Hopefully we get a rope shortcut setup and can get to safety in just one turn.
Maybe if we reunite the tyrant with its baby, it’ll become friendly and our new ally.
