Dungeon 14 Turn 20
————
Ricki and her friends organize to help the kobolds trapped in the lower room. Ricki and Macadamia speak with the frightened prisoners, while Kamau and Botanya aid in lifting them out of the pit.
“Who are you…?”
“We’re here to help! We defeated the guards above, let’s get out of here!”
“Oh… thank you!”
“Can you escort us out, too?”
“There are traps, and guards, and…”
“Yeah, I’m sure we can do that.”
“I don’t understand. Why are these cultists keeping a bunch of their own members prisoner?”
“Are they turning on themselves?”
“We aren’t with them! Not really.”
“All we knew is that there was a group of kobolds out here. We delivered supplies to them.”
“But it seems their creatures are eating food faster than we could bring it in. So one day they pulled weapons on us and hustled us in here.”
“I’ve been here longest. If their biggest monster has trouble finding food outside, they pull a lever up there and dump us all down below for it to feast on. I’ve seen it happen.”
“WHAT?!”
“Yeah, I… was pretty sure that’s what was happening.”
“Emperor’s mercy… isn’t it enough for these people to follow their own delusions without dragging the rest of our people into it?”
“Are they really THAT desperate to return to our dark ages?!”
“Kobolds killing kobolds!”
“For the sake of giant idiot lizards!!”
“We’ll get them out of here, Macadamia.”
“And shut this horrible place down on the way out.”
“Whatever it takes.”
Macadamia has become Fired Up! His investment in this dungeon is greater than normal, and if it can be completed successfully, his relationship with Ricki shall improve even more than usual!
Kamau and Botanya leave the prison room. Things are getting a little intense in there. The narration, mostly.
All the kobolds are out of the pit and up on the top floor of the other room now. They can be led through the dungeon, but due to malnutrition they can only move one room at a time. They’re also vulnerable to enemies and hazards, the same as any other party member.
Ricki: Head right, then up, then left. Summon Santa Paws. If you can, ask him if you can purchase Manor Upgrades from him.
Kamau: Head left. Action escort the Kobolds to the right.
Botanya: Head up. Mend your Flytrap.
Macadamia: Hit the lever. Head right, then up.
–
Let the capitalism begin.
Make sure Sue is still down below when the lever is used
Guys, iirc, Paws did refuse to buy any stuff laying on the ground and insisted to only buy stuff that at least one party member had in their inventory.
Also he was sticking around for a limited time only (iirc. it was 5 turns).
Are you accounting for that?
(Macadamia with Molly doing the selling might make things a bit more efficient here, both because of the rings as well as the “no matter the weight, items take up only 1 slot in Mollys inventory.)
Mac has unlocked ‘merchant caravan’ achievement!
Sicks plan, but with some adjustments
Ricki: move right, move up, move left. Summon paws and ask if we can buy Manor upgrades even if they won’t be ready by the time we get back.
Mac: escort the kobolds right and leave the kobolds with Botania. Move up after.
Botania: wait for the kobolds to arrive. Mend your plant.
Kamau: move up. Action move left. Drop both shields in the loot pile.
Ideally, Kamau is going to keep moving towards ambush group and will drink healing potion next turn. Ricki can join him with her move and disarm trap so he can engage. Can return to puke after if we need more items.
Botania needs the least amount of use with paws shes on escort duty.
Mac is within range to sell next turn as well
Puke was supposed to be pick up. That’s probably my worst typo ever…
Fired Up text
Fired Up: Gain +1 Bond and +1 new ability if the current dungeon is completed successfully.
for posterity.
Have the kobolds form a protective ring around Sue. That way anything that wants to hurt her has to go through them.
Can we give the kobolds cheese to cure their malnutrition, like we did for Ricki?
I would like to bring into consideration strategy of equipping every Kobolt Slave with Tyrant Tooth and having them all Alpha-Strike Boss on turn 30 as it arrives. With Kamau using Interpose to take it’s wrath upon his masculine form.
benefit is that we deal 35 unblockable damage (if we find enough teeth for everyone) in single turn.
Should be enough to One Turn Kill boss monster.
Drawbacks:
Kobolts might refuse out of fear, just look how long it took Mac to grow a spine (to be fair it is more of Mac trait, than racial trait);they might not be able to perform attack action per dungeon wierdness;any AOE wipes them all out.first 2, we can just run the plan by them and if hey refuse that’s it.
3rd… we either take the risk or need to spend turn 30 lensing it and only enact “Down with Tyrany!!!!” plan on turn 31.
Seems like a solution to Boss problem that this dungeon is designed for. We find lots of single use items, there is one big bad Boss we are supposed to
eitherprepare to killor escape from, and we just got ourself 7 super weak NPC’s.Bonus Point:
It would be an epic scene, a swarm of Kobolt Slaves rushing a Tyrant, using that which she discarded as trash to take her down, as Kamau heroically blocks her blows to keep them safe. Just. Pure. Epic.
I love this epic fantasy, but fear (as usual) its enactability… Don’t you need the strength and nimbleness to catch up to a beast and mark a hit, even if your weapon could pierce any hide?
I like the idea, but I doubt it would work since the Kobolds are malnourished and very scared. Not only that, if it did work, dungeon would end immiediately…
But in the absolute best way
I do not trust us to try an stay in dungeon while avoiding the Beast.
We either complete the goal before turn 30 or we gotta kill Tyrant on turn 30.
This is idea of a plan for Tyrant killing.
I do note that it has to be attached to a weapon or piece of ammunition.
lot’s of pickaxes around 😉
but yea, we might also need to equip them with loot from our foes.
If LSN is gracious the weapons they are carrying might even still count as OUR loot once we leave dungeon, letting us sell them in intermission.
Those kobolds didn’t show up in current-party as PCs.
Can we really ask them to carry or wield anything?
Can we really ask them to attack anything?
I think we have tried and such escortees in general only followed us and refised to do anything more?
