Macadamia finished a dungeon while Fired Up! He can gain two new abilities from this list:
Accessory Essence: Can smif rings with benefits drawn from accessories worn on the head, hands, and legs. Bonus of ring is limited by cost of accessory. Minimum 20 gold value required for +2, 40 gold value for +3.
Dig I: Once per dungeon can expend a hammer or pick to create an opening in a normal wall or floor (not leading between rooms). Only Small characters can use the opening.
Dispel Ring I: Can turn a magic ring back into a nonmagical ring to restore 1 HP per tier of the ring to a nearby ally.
Hammer Proficiency: +1 Atk when wielding a hammer or similar weapon.
It Goes on Your Back: +1 Def if carrying a shield but not wielding it.
Magic Essence: Can smif rings with benefits drawn from undamaged wands and staves. Wands can create +1 or +2 rings, staves can create +2 or +3 rings.
Master of Both Things: +1 Atk if wielding a hammer in one hand and a pick in the other.
Panic: +1 Atk when targeted by an attack.
Pick Proficiency: +1 Atk when wielding a pick or similar weapon.
Ring Synergy: If wearing two rings that increase the same attribute, +1 to that attribute.
Scamper: +1 Mov when using turn only to move.
Smif Ring III: Four times per dungeon can combine a nonmagical ring with another item to create a magic ring.
Gonna Post individual choice rather than pairs
DIG I
Every dungeon has had some amazing options for Dig. With his Bond dungeon coming up, could be VERY useful.
Accessory Essence
There’s been some speculation this may allow for +Mov, +ranged, + Enc rings which would be very useful.
We wouldnt smif Midas or Sneak gloves but Diving helm may be a good choice.
The Wand/Staff smiffing competes with Lohk’s abilities so I’m less keen on that.
if we aren’t going to retire him, dispel ring may be a good choice once we have enough rings on everyone.
Dig I
I prefer Dig + either Accessory or Magic Essence. I don’t want to choose both of the Essence upgrades because we only get so many ring smiffs per dungeon.
Dig is also probably one of the strongest abilities in the game, being able to open up new paths which could bypass whole encounters (or dungeons in the case of the dungeon we were just in).
It’ll be hilarious if Dig is the top 2 highest votes and LSN gives us Dig II instead of something else.
I wouldn’t complain, but hilarious.
Oh, you mean, Dig-1 and immediately Dig-2 with no second skill? Makes sense. And kinda buying in blind, since we’ve not seen Dig-2 description. But that’s interesting idea 😀 Mac is soooo fired up he just *DIGS* it 😀
Dispel Ring 1
With enemies regularly dropping many lower tier magical rings we can’t completely pick up, this provides a reliable way to heal after battles.
Dispel ring is really legit healing combined with something like the life dragon robe because we nearly always have excess items, and are starting to approach ring saturation. It lets us convert items we find into healing, which is an incredibly useful resource given Mac can stack rings in his inventory up to 5 deep. That’d be 15-20 healing in a single slot for a silver or gold ring and the life dragon robe. That being said, I think we want dig and accessory smiffing.
Dispel ring.
With the amout of spare rings we saw scattered around the floor in this last dungeon, it seems like dispelling rings might be more useful than training Mac in the use of another sources of smiffing.
To be honest, I’m not even sure how Accessory and Essence work. Will they result in different types of rings? Will we be able to create rings of inferno or rings of darkvision? The 1, 2, 3 scaling makes me think we are only able to smiff attack, def and evasion rings.
To be even more honest, I’d gladly pick Dig II right out, without even knowing exactly what it does.
This was specifically a kobold dungeon with a Ringsmiff in it. Basing future dungeon plans on the number of rings in this one would be like basing plans off the number of poison creatures found in the well. I’m not saying there will be none, but this is definitely going to be an outlier.
This dungeon was littered with rings because it was a Kobold-centric dungeon, led by a Ringsmif. Empire Soldiers will likely have rings too, but not to this extent.
There’s also more stats than just Atk, Def and Evasion.
Personal theory is that Accessory rings will give
+1/2/3 Ranged Weapon Damage (if using a Head Accessory)
+2/4/6 Encumbrance (If using a Hand Accessory)
+1/2/3 Move Speed (If using a Leg Accessory).
And that Wand/Staff smiffing will give a +1/2/3 bonus to the damage of and resistance to the element of that wand or staff. Or in the case of Death Element, just a damage bonus, or in the case of Life Element, a bonus to healing given/received.
Has there been any hint of that being true? Like did LSN hint at it on the discord?
I feel like if that was true, we would have seen one among the rings dropped in this dungeon. It’s just something people have suggested on here because they think the alternative is too boring/underpowered.
I feel like saying “it is probably this way because the alternative wouldn’t be good enough” ignores how many of the upgrade options are outright trash.
We’ve confirmed with the Enchanting Hammer that Magic Rings are not just going to be an alternate way to create Atk/Def/Eva rings given that we can choose what element is used with whatever we’re smiffing. Wouldn’t make sense to have some 7 different elements be different ways to buff Atk/Def/Eva. And it’d make sense if Accessory Rings did their own thing as well.
I could totally be wrong about what specific stats those types of rings buff up, but they 100% definitely are not Atk/Def/Evasion.
Magic Essence: Can smif rings with benefits drawn from undamaged wands and staves. Wands can create +1 or +2 rings, staves can create +2 or +3 rings.
We can purchase Wands from Paws and if a Silver Ring + Wand of Mend can be smiffed I think we want that real bad.
I’m actually leaning towards magic smif now that I see we don’t have much for accessories to smif. To remedy that, we could just delay doing his bond next and get more accessories
Scamper and Scamper II
Scamper is not upgradeable. How about Scamper and Panic, just for the sake of titles?
