Dungeon 13 Turn 42
————
The party swing down the rope/climbs down the wall and attacks the lizard. It hits Amadeusz with a blast of lightning, dealing 1 damage, as well as causing a lesser static discharge to arc between everyone else. The discharge deals no damage, except to Lara’s mushroom which left the safety of the top of her head to fight, and which promptly explodes.
The party deals massive damage to the lizard… except Cordy, who misses entirely. The tortoise responds to all of this by cracking open its shell and causing healing vapours to envelop the lizard, healing it substantially. Even with that, the lizard seems to be greatly weakened!
Also, its tail gets chopped off in the melee and starts flopping around and zapping things as if it has a mind of its own. The tortoise’s magic causes the lizard to grow a new tail with lightning speed!
We gotta make sure lizard dies before anything else to prevent more tail spawns.
Lara: attack lizard with sword
Ricki: attack lizard with fists
Amad: attack lizard with claws
Cordy: attack lizard with wand of venom.
Gets our mushy back for Lara without spending HP.
I think Cordy should just attack normally given the dragon’s dodge chance. We can always score a shroom off the turtle since that will be a 2 turn kill most likely.
I think attacking NOW was a bad idea…
Let’s actually make sure it dies this time
Lara, Amad: slice
Ricki, Cordy: punch
Each turn of combat produces a tail, so let’s end this as quick as we can. We can recover the lost mushie on the second turn of fighting tortoise.
Third alternative:
Ricki, Lara, Amad: slice (the lightning dragon)
Cordy: punch (the lightning dragon)
Looks like Claud called it last turn on this dragon having a dodge chance. So it makes sense to me to maximize our damage per attack, since some of our attacks might miss again next turn.
The lightning dragon is probably immune to lightning damage. So I’m assuming that if Ricki hits it with the shocking swiftblade, her damage will be reduced by just the 1 point granted by the shocking enchantment. If I’m wrong, and lightning immunity negates her entire attack, then NeKpoT’s plan is better than this one.
People have also suggested that the lightning dragon might absorb / benefit from lightning damage. I think that’s unlikely, considering that it also has an AOE attack, dodge chance and extra tail attack, plus high enough def and hp to have survived our first attack. But of course I could be wrong.
That makes sense
