Dungeon 13 Turn 38
————
Cordy attacks another of the dragon tamers, defeating her. Their mushrooms gang up to attack another, dealing minor damage. Amadeusz returns and expends the barrier of light crowstone to protect Cordy from the counterattack, causing them to take no damage.
Ricki opens the nearby chest and finds… a single potion of healing. Not very exciting, but on the other hand, its not like these things aren’t constantly desperately needed.
Lara blows up another wisp.
We need to both flip the lever before turn 40 and get a staff on Ricki so she can complete the dungeon. We really don’t have time anymore. Would be nice to have eyes on the patrol when they come in as well
Really don’t want to repeat our mistakes of staying too long. Let’s get new char and dip
Hey,weird question:
Where did Cordy learn all these kung-fu moves???
This plan gets Ricki the staff so we have met dungeon completion (besides leaving) and gets her within range of flipping the last lever. Cordy and amad can begin to move up and grab all our dropped gear
Ricki: use pipe and go bottom left. Move right and give cordy your lens and healing potion.
Cordy: move up and trade you necrostaff, dual wield wand gloves and your wand holster with the wand of venom and used healing to Ricki.
Amad: kill a kobold
Lara: kill last wisp
If we really need to flip that last lever *before* T40, this plan doesn’t accomplish that. But I don’t think there’s any way to get Ricki there sooner, so we’ll just have to hope that flipping the lever on T40 is soon enough.
To flip the lever on T40, we need to write this instruction while the page says “dungeon-14-turn-39”, so the very ‘next’ turn from current reader’s point of view.
If we write “flip the lever” on turn “dungeon-14-turn-40”, then it be too late, turn 40 already happened, the ‘tank thing’ will already have done its every-10th-turn thing, and our ‘flip the lever’ will be done on turn 41
Ok, I re-read what you said a few times, and I think I know what you meant.
Right now, we are after T38, and before T39.
The actions we choose now will occur on T39.
Then we will see the outcome, new page posted, with T39 results.
Then we state new actions, and they are going to happen on T40.
What Claudious planned here, will cause Ricky to end T39 in the room where the bomb exploded, but at the outside of the rat-tunnel where the lever is. Ricky already used both Mov points, so even if she used action to go through the tunnel, she can’t flip the lever. This means she can flip the lever at “the beginning” of T40, where “things happen”, not before T40.
If we want her to flip the lever strictly before T40, she must do it NOW.
This means she would have to resign from giving things to Cordy and from going through the pipe, and instead take the shortest route – run LEFT, past 2 armed SolarGuardians we decided to ignore, and into the tunnel, and then 3 rats we decided to ignore, and then she’ll actually have 1 action left to flip the lever.
…..I think she doesn’t have enough DEF+HP for that…
We just have to hope that flipping the lever on t40 counts. I think it does since poison well had us complete the dungeon when we killed the last spawner in the turn the rest would have respawned
I don’t want to leave now. I’m not even sure we can rescue our new friend and leave before the patrol arrives.
Ricki: use the pipe to go to the lower left room, go up to where we left the potion bandolier and pick it up. Avoid traps and point them out to Lara.
Lara: go left twice and meet up with Ricki, pick up the key use it to open the barred door. Avoid traps.
Amadeusz: kill a kobold, pick up the brown/green robe if it drops.
Cordy: kill the other kobold.
Turn 40 we spy on the patrol and prepare to engage them in the middle room in turn 41. We can have Lara mess with the bats on turn 40.
Amy’s inventory is full, so he cant pick up any items. Maybe have him drop some meat?
Can’t edit now, but he has one free slot now (crowstone just spent). Next I’ll submit for him to eat the single cut of meat he’s carrying. And have Cordy mend themself (themselves?).
EDIT: I might as well post an alternate plan.
I’m just going to point out that this is pushing us into the “staying too long” territory that has screwed us before. We are low on HP for Lara and cordy and if patrol is too strong we can’t even complete the dungeon with Ricki to save amad and cordy who are in a dead end
> Lara blows up another wisp.
…and 8 days later, we hear on the stream, that the Elementalist would call upon them and sniff them in, recovering hitpoints obviously lost in the tank due to the draining.. but since there were no wisps anymore, they ended up exiting the tank with 1hp and got accidentally killed by DeathSpores since they were not ‘spored’ yet, obviously
Cordy and Amadeusz, go jump into the drago/turtle pit. I’m pretty sure those are new mounts for us. Ricki: go up that ladder and attack those guards. Lara, wait 2 turns doing nothing
Alternate plan that gets Cordy’s hit point a bit higher before tackling the patrol. If we’re staying past t40, we finish the kobolds later. Putting Ricki and Lara together so we have a faster way to let Lara drink the healing potion if we feel like using one of her spells against the patrol.
Ricki: use the pipe to go to the lower left room, go up to where we left the potion bandolier and pick it up. Avoid traps and point them out to Lara.
Lara: go left twice and meet up with Ricki, agitate the bats in the middle room on your way over. Avoid traps.
Amadeusz: kill a kobold.
Cordy: mend yourself.
What barred door is Lara opening?
You’re right. The door has been opened for a long time. I don’t have it marked on my map.
Sorry about that, folks.
I’ll have her agitate the bats them.
Those bats do 13dmg and Ricki will have to pass through to get to the tank room. Is this plan giving up on new Char?
No. I was thinking about using the bats to weaken the patrol as they move into the dungeon.
“Laaaaaaara Jenkins!!!”
This plan preps us to stay past T40 but gives us the safety net of completing it should the patrol corner Amad and Cordy Downstairs. If we can deal with patrol then we can finish up Kobolds.
I thinking.. what can screw us up? and here’s what I came up with: we’re focused on valves, yeah, but I don’t think the dungeon would end ASAP as soon as we flip all the valves. That would be too easy. In poison-well, we had mechanic that wa resetting the spawners. What do we have here? Nothing. We flip the valves, they stay closed.
Other random things that might go into character-freeing-dungeon-end puzzle:
guards/patrols. They may inspect and flip the valves back and they show regularly, forever. If we just flip the valves back and exit, they’d just enter and flip them back. We probably can’t flip and exit, we probably have to make sure it blows up.Existence of elemental-calming-artifact is pretty strong indication that dungeon may not end immediately after the tank is broken..Maybe the guards are not smart enough to flip valves, but there are scientists down there. Maybe we should K.O. them to be sure none of them gets an idea of fixing things if we would like to flip-and-runThe notes say, “keep one workstation working, or else oscillations may go wild”. there’s a chance this is just a red herring, but also there’s a significant possibility, that not only valves have to be flipped off, but also turn 10th has to pass
So.. what “safety net of completing” do you have in mind? could elaborate?
The dungeon goal is exiting with at least 1 each of wand, staff, accessory and total new value > 100GP. It only ends when we affirmatively end it. Valves are part of the secondary objective though, and most likely part of recruiting the new character.
And safety net is making sure Ricki + Lara have the necessary items to trigger the exit, because Lara can use the ceiling to carry Ricki to the exit, enabling us to hopefully bypass patrols and safely trigger the win condition whenever we want, allowing us to spend more time doing other stuff.
Lara carrying Ricky sneaking on the ceiling. Got it. Makes sense, thanks!
