Dungeon 12 Turn 57
————
Ricki takes a deep breath and heads to the left. Looks like the fish are all gone.
She picks up one of the loose wish coins, then takes 1 damage from drowning. The coin will protect her next turn, at least.
Amadeusz heals Cordy for another 1 HP.
Lara waits for the next wave of inevitable doom to swim past.
And everyone lets out a breath of relief….
Unfortunately we do not know if that group we see is group 1 or 2. But It is safe to assume that the missing group is either in harpoon room or central chamber above Ricki. Regardless, it doesn’t matter anymore as it is time to get the hell out of here.
Ricki: Move left. Pick up the Crit Greaves on the ground and end your where the frogs were.
Amad: Mend Cordy
Cordy: Spawn a New Mushy.
Lara: Wait.
This gets us eyes on the last source before we kill it on the off-chance a new Crab spawned when Turn 55 hit. If we try to kill the last source and there is a crab, Ricki will Die. Lets not trip at the finish line here.
It should not be very important, but I think we should state that Ricky should end turn near the eggsack or where the frogs were, not i.e. at the bottom level of this room. Just in case.
Also, if we think there is a newly-spawned crab, it probably spawned at the eggsack watercell, so picking up crit-greaves risks “surprise attack” from that crab, doesn’t it?
It would be quite odd, so far they spawned when eggsacks reset, and this didn’t happen (yet).
Ricki can survive 1 Surprise attack, but not a surprise attack and the poison from killing the source.
If there is a crab there, she will take 1, then she can eat her shroom, then kill the last source since the crab cant surprise her anymore.
I was just going to say the same thing 🙂
Also, a thought: A thrown harpoon does the same damage as Ricki’s swiftblade.
If Ricki could perch on top of the wall, she could kill the source with her harpoon without exposing herself to danger. We’d lose the harpoon but we could keep Ricki’s mushroom.
Edit: Not sure this is correct. See my answer to Zuvatan below.
bottom left room has 3 pools that technically aren’t connected by water. You have to climb over walls, something I doubt death fish can do.
I would feel much safer if Ricki ended her turn in the middle one (where there used to be frogs) if we are worried there is a potential crab in the one with source.
I will feel much safer if Ricki won’t start next turn in body of water connected to all the water death fish are in.
Do we know what’ll happen if we leave the 4th/last Barnacle (past the skeletons) alive?
Maybe killing it is the instant-win condition.
If NOT,then it’ll suck HARD to miss out on new abilities
Bruno, before you ask why the downvote:
Yes. The dungeon will never end.
It is, no maybe about it. That’s why we’re sending Ricki over there to kill it.
Anyone who’s been paying attention over the last 57 turns should not need to ask questions like these. Edit: Or even the last 5 turns, really.
Ricki should also obviously not end underwater. We want her to breathe.
Waaaah, everyone hugs their pets, even the PetMaster joined!
Just look at his expression \(^^)/
LSN actually added that suggestion?
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Modified Claudious plan. Gives up Crit Greaves (3 gold) and a Mushy but allows us to leave turn earlier if there is a Crab.
If there is no Crab we just loose on item and
sla1 permanent indendured servant. I’m fine with that. This dungeon was to close for my taste. I want out.Ricki: Move left. Eat Mushy and end your turn were frogs were.
Amad: Mend Cordy
Cordy: Spawn a New Mushy.
Lara: Wait.
This way if there is a crab we can attack Poison Source next turn without Ricki dying.
She is at 2 HP and dying source deals 1 unblockable + 1 unblockble from Crab. If there is crab she HAS to eat Mushy before we can end dungeon.
Makes us stay 1 turn less in area Fish can swim into.
I feel much the same way but I don’t think this is necessary. If we follow Claudious’s plan and Ricki gets hit by a crab next turn, she should be able to safely kill the source on the following turn by throwing her harpoon at it from above the water. That would end the dungeon on T59, same as your plan.
… or maybe not. I am perplexed.
On T13, Amad one-shotted an egg sac with his claws, and I think he was only doing 7 dmg at that point underwater since he didn’t have a mushroom yet.
But then on T14, Lara threw a harpoon at an egg sac and was unable to kill it. I’m not sure how much damage she was doing then, but it should have been at least 8 (3 base + 4 thrown harpoon + 2 ring – 1 underwater).
So do the egg sacs get stronger as you go deeper in the well? Do they have higher DEF vs ranged weapons? Or (most likely) am I overlooking some other factor?
Ranged damage is fixed and carries no modifiers. Lara dealt 4 damage to egg sac, and 4 is not enough to destroy it.
Gotcha. So no way to attack the egg sac without taking some damage. Thanks!
Let’s go Swarmfish hunting. I bet we can take em.
