Dungeon 12 Turn 23
————
Ricki and Amadeusz smash the barricade down easily, which allows Lara and Cordy to attack the blowfish on the other side. They use a similar tactic to their previous fight, with Lara defeating one in order to use its explosion against the other. Lara once again loses a mushroom in the process, but its death spores plus Cordy’s use of the wand of venomous sting creates two replacements.
Lara takes 2 unblockable damage from fighting a blowfish, but manages to barely tank the double explosion plus a bite from that one leftover fish she passed by. She takes no damage from drowning as there is air nearby. Cordy stays underwater to avoid the explosions altogether, and takes 1 drowning damage as a result.
Ricki and Amadeusz swim back up to Pet Master’s secret base for air.
Holy cow! You can move after attacking objects! That’s an awesome thing to know!
Indeed! Although I thought YOU specifically knew that.
We knew we could move in the room. But not leave it. Thought it followed the same rules as combat
Fair enough,I made similar mistakes. The only difference is that you fidn’t get 5 dislikes for making those mistakes.
Just to note: people disliking a plan you’ve posted isn’t necessarily them actually disapproving of your comment; because the plan with the most likes gets used, a plan with lots of dislikes may contain no mistakes or logical failings, but merely be considered not as good as another plan.
yep, that’s important Bruno.. it happened a few times that suddenly +10 votes showed up out of thin air on something, so if you see -5..-10, that’s just people really agreeing we definitely shouldn’t do that, not to tell you GTFO 🙂
There probably should be a bigger gradient of options than just “love or hate”,the way Newgrounds has 6 different buttons.
That’s a solid turn.
Cordy down to 2 HP though. He’s gonna need another potion shower.
Or we just kill him off and grow a new one.
No,then he won’t get a new ability.
Oh.. actually.. when Cordy dies and ‘regrows’, does the regrown one retain all the abilities that the previous one knew, or is it reset to zero and has to learn everything from scratch? I mean, I don’t want to – but I suppose we won’t know until we, erm, try?
I’d assume that he does retain everything. If he lost everything LSN would’ve specified it.
CORDY:Eat minishroom,move to petmaster.
Amy + Lara,bust down wall
Rickolas “Ricki” “Rots in a Cage” Pilferlot Lohksdottir the 1st:slay barnacle.
Oh look,ANOTHER DISLIKE!If any of you have a problem with my comments, just say so in the replies.Or is someone disliking no matter WHAT just cause they’re a troll?
Would you prefer if I told Cordy to move to the platform ABOVE the Barnacle,& drank his remaining potion?
We should probably have Ama take down the egg sac. He’s got the most spare health.
Yea he does, but I believe Lara’s sword does mire damage (remember when we threw a harpoon at the 2nd Barnacle,& it survived?
Ricki: Swim down. Slash the Barricade leading to the Poison Source. End turn above water.
Amadeusz: Swim down, follow Ricki, help her break down the Barricade. End turn above water.
Cordy: Punch the last Skeletal Fish. End turn above water.
Lara: Loot the chest by the Skeletitan. Swim back up and end turn above water.
Could you explain the reasoning for not killing the egg sac this turn?
We’re not in any real rush to do so and we’ll need the Poisoned Water to buff Lara’s defense if we want to destroy the Skeletitan on a future turn.
Sure, but won’t moving next to thr titan trigger it?
Poison. Right. Makes some sense actually. But poisoned water affects not only Lara, and we have at least 2 rooms (here and to the right) that might be cleared (unlikely through). Maybe we should just ignore the skeleton, kill the barnacle to get more progress, and clear the skelefish next room instead?
Check out my comment re ‘levels’. The first barnacle is FAR away from here. It’s hard to check on it. But here, we have 2 barnacles in adjacent rooms, easy to check on them both.
Let’s pop this one ASAP. If we linger in the dungeon long enough, on the next barnacle-regrown time, we’ll easily see if 3rd and 2nd respawn, or maybe just 3rd (the lowest, this one one) respawns.
Plan setup if we want to kill skeletitan (we need like over 25 damage in a single turn)
Lara: Kill Barricade
Amad: Move down. Pop Source
Cordy: Get Harpoon
2 of Cordy’s mushie: Split attacks among any crabs that shows up. Explode to kill them for meat.
Ricki: Move down. Kill Fish
Next turn Lara, Ricki and Amad can pile on skeletitan while Cordy give Lara poison res by stinging her from range.
That’s actually well thought-out.And we DO NEED to collect some treasure if we expect to purchase upgrades when we return
Why kill the last Skeletal Swarmfish? It isn’t much threat on its own and it is a potential source of a small mushroom that can be eaten to heal 1HP.
An extra 2 random dmg to a char could really screw us later. Heck. Cordy can’t even kill it himself in poison water without taking 1 dmg.
Plan pop source to prepare for shaft fish and be able to see final room asap(if we want to ignore skeletitan by having Lara loot its chest):
Ricki: Swim down. Slash the Barricade leading to the Poison Source. End turn above water.
Cordy: Go next to the barricade. Drink your potion. End turn above water.
2 mushies: Punch the barricade while standing on Cordy’s head so you don’t need to swim.
Amadeusz: Swim down. Pop the poison source. End turn above water.
Lara: Loot the chest by the Skeletitan. Swim back up and end turn above water.
Plan setup if we want to kill skeletitan but with paranoia protection added in case we can’t intercept surprise ambush attacks.
(Cordy may die if he gets hit by 2 unblockable without healing)
Also, Cordy cant use the harpoon anyway so we might want Lara to be the one to pick it up later instead.
Lara: Kill Barricade
Amad: Move down. Pop Source
Cordy: Walk among the skulls, expect crabs. Drink your potion.
2 of Cordy’s mushie: Split attacks among any crabs that shows up. Explode to kill them for meat.
Ricki: Move down. Kill Fish
I just noticed that it seems to be ONE poisonous barnacle per LEVEL of the dungeon.
I’m looking at CombatDoctor’s map, and the first barnacle is alone in its room, and the only other room on this ‘level’ is the entrance, with no barnacles (0bs). Total = 1.
Here at PetMaster’s, we had one barnacle (1bs), and to the right is the shaft (0bs), and then to the right is where Lara almost died (0bs too). Total = 1.
Level below, where BigBlackSkeleton and current fight goes (1bs), and to the right is the shaft (0bs). Total = 1 (probably, see ‘B’ below).
I wonder if that’s a rule here.
Also:
A) killing newly-spawned barnacle in PetMaster’s room didn’t clear the poison here at the BBS, even though the water is clearly well-connected. Lara took a peek at the shaft to the right on turn 18, and the shaft was clear. When we popped first barnacle on turn 13, we DID NOT take a look at the entrance – destroying first barnacle could actually have cleared the water there. We only went DOWN after we did it, so the remaining poison was from the next barnacle. I think there is no ‘closed pool of water’ rule, I think when we pop the 3rd barnacle here at BBS, the whole 3rd level will be clear of poison.
B) one-barnacle-per-level may be wrong, we don’t know what is two-times-right from BigBlackSkeleton room. There may be a room with barnacle, and that would disprove my guess, or a boss (farthest last room of the dungeon), or there may be no room at all there.
C) since barnacle at PetMaster’s respawned, I wonder if the first barnacle we popped also have respawned at the same moment. IF there is “one barnacle per level” rule, they might be regrowing one level at time, bottom-first. That would totally make sense considering rules say “some of your progress” and not “all of your progress”. But, also, regrowth may random. I think it would be good to take a peek there, but I don’t see how to make it i reasonable time. It’s like one full turn to go there, and one full turn to get back, but at least it’s air-water-air trip if I count mov+actions well. But here, at 2nd and 3rd barnacle, it’s easy to observe, these are adjacent rooms. Let’s be sure to pop the 3rd barnacle before regrowth on turn 30.
That would make sense, and also could explain the discrepancies on poison damage – lower levels of the dungeon may do more damage.
Poison Water damage is just 3. Our time limit is “Lose Progress”, not “Poison Water gets stronger”. But when turn 10 came around and we had no progress to lose, we got a different penalty in the poison water getting stronger on a single layer. Since it still seems like the poison water for the 1st poison source was still 3 damage on the first layer, and we’ve learned it’s still 3 on the 3rd layer.
I like Kat’s plan, but it doesn’t account for the fact that the crabs were said to have high defense last time we killed them. Also in her second plan, she forgot to tell people to breathe (which is kind of sad that we need to specify, but we’ve been punished for not doing so before).
Lara: Kill Barricade.
Amad: Move down. Pop Source
Cordy: Walk among the skulls, expect crabs. Use your mushies to facecheck the skulls. Drink your potion. Go end turn where you can breathe, near where the barricade used to be.
All 4 of Cordy’s mushie: Split attacks among any crabs that shows up. Explode to kill them for meat.
Ricki: Move down. Kill Fish. Go end turn where you can breathe, near where the barricade used to be.
Reasoning for edits:
Breathing is good.
Having all 4 mushie attack will only kill as many mushies as get hit by crabs, but will increase the chance that we kill them by doing a little more damage
Nicely done, but assuming that THIS is the last Barnacle,we should also think about finding loot zo make a progit (even if we don’t get the Kobold Den,Garden,Still & Closet like I wanted,we need 20 Coins for a Hearty Meal for +1HP.
I slso like that I (possibly) got other people to call those things “Barnacles”.
ALL MUSHIES THAT ATTACK DIE BECAUSE OF POISON! They lose their protection from being tiny when attacking.
And mushies explosion do unblockable damage so crab defense do not matter.
And I don’t recall us ever needing to specify breathing? From what I saw, it is automatic if there is a safe source of air in the room we can reach. Found lots of example of this, like turn 17, and no counter example.
Specifying breathing cant hurt, but can you edit to have only 2 mushie attack due to my first point since your plan is winning?
All mushies will die from poison in this plan, massively nerfing Cordy.
Amadeusz: flirt with pet master.
Well,he did all but confirm he’s a furry when he mentioned “questionable fanart”.
