Dungeon 11 Turn 35
————
Ricki makes a quick trip through the hole in the wall to check on the prison room, then goes back through to rejoin her friends.
Ricki and Amadeusz attack the Elite guard while Kamau covers them. They pretty easily knock him out, after which Ricki scoops up two silver rings of aggression.
After dropping his arrows, Macadamia does his best to ignore his friends attacking another guard and focuses on reading the nearby note instead (though he does pick up the tower shield after the fight).
“First the lever that opens the panic doors split into three, and now they’ve all moved to different parts of the dungeon. If they keep moving like that, we might lose one and not be able to feed one or more of our contractors. Fortunately the most important lever remains secured in the tower. That one’s been difficult lately.”

Plan: Interact with smith and Loot.
Amad: Move Left and check out the empty workshop bench and anvil. See if there are any notes or equipment left.
Kamau: Move left and talk with smith. Ask him if he would like to leave and if he can make bombs. If he is hostile, smack him.
Ricki: Move left and loot chest
Mac: Loot Chest beside you.
Mac, Ricki and Kamau all have some space, but since Amad has no other meaningful actions to take we need Kamau as a bodyguard. Only Ricki can recruit new characters, but anyone can talk to NPCs (see Kobold Warren dungeon).
What we do next really depends on Smith’s response.
Destroyed door. Crate-of-parts was just behind them and it’s gone. I suppose to make a bomb, we just have to add something to the crate-of-parts-and-chemicals and somehow trigger the reaction. Maybe as simple as “place the crate at right place, then toss a golem core”. But I suppose the time’s too short and that’s waay too much guessing.
At least top contractor is accessible now. Let’s hear him out if he’s not hostile. If he’s hostile, that welding-mask-helmet seems nice.
Our only hope at secondary objective right now is if this smith can make more than one bomb with a single box. If we can, then we can probably make them and drop them off at the locations on our way out via the roof. If not, then we drop them and grab what’s left and leave
A golem core has a value of 20 and also can heal Toaster. A box of parts has a value of 20, too. So, either we use them as bombs here or we take them with us. (Unsure what “drop” means in your comment, not “cast away”, does it?)
Didn’t realize they had a value. We might keep them then
It was suggested that if we can only make 2 bombs, that we use one on the Kobold door as those rings may be of use.
Why not just have Kamau ask smith about bombs and Amad can do something else? He could inspect the dead smith’s room for anything useful, like bomb instructions, right?
That is a good point. I will edit.
I really am curious to see what the demon guy does. It seems interesting to me that the only other time we saw him was the Coccyx dungeon, and we got psyched out and thought Coccyx was killed, so maybe the demon was supposed to psyche us out by making a deal to bring him back when it wasn’t necessary. But this time that contractor guy probably really *is* dead. Those demons could be in dungeons where new characters can easily be lost.
Aren’t you at least the tiniest bit curious what they do? We’re going to see them again. Having info on what they actually *do* is gonna come in handy.
I don’t think this is a bad idea, although I do want to point out that we did damage the demon with Amadeusz earlier, albeit incidentally. There’s a chance that the demon was either always hostile, or was turned hostile by doing that, and that opening the door is just going to let him attack us. At the very least it might be a good idea to have Amadeusz hang back when talking to it in case it gets pissed off at the only guy with musical instruments.
If we want to try this we might want to bring the blacksmith’s body with us- which I think we should do anyway tbh to give the guy a proper burial instead of leaving him to become a zombie. That being said: if the demon DOES offer resurrection, I have a feeling it’s going to come at the cost of something big, most likely a pet or party member. That or big stat debuffs; something permanent.
D11T35: “First the lever that opens the panic doors split into three, and now they’ve all moved to different parts of the dungeon. Well, “we might lose one and not be able to feed one or more of our contractors,” seems to be what happened to that green-eyed Kobold ringsmif, in the middle cell who looks like a skeleton or other undead. The lever to open the door to the Kobold was probably the one we saw in the entry room behind a group of Reinforced Skeletons with a Skeletitan.
I’m going back through the Guard Outpost as we prepare for the Research Facility. Looking at this Note makes me think that the lever that we encountered in the tower which didn’t seem to do anything when Ricki finally tried it on Turn 32 was never going to do anything, even if we had tried it before Turn 20 when the big explosion occurred (i.e. the lever in the tower was a non-functional “red herring” all along, not broken on Turn 20 by the explosion). It seems likely that we either needed to make and use a bomb to free our potential new team member before Turn 20, or we needed to talk to them through the door before Turn 20 and get them to make a bomb in their cell and use it while we were there waiting. That would also imply that Amadeusz’s Sketchy Secondary Objective may have been impossible all along.
D11T32: “Ricki finally gets around to throwing the lever nearby, but it’s kind of… floppy. It doesn’t feel like it’s activating anything. Maybe it’s broken?”
D11T0: Secondary Goal: Plant Explosives at three load-bearing points within the dungeon. Materials and instructions for creating Explosives can likely be found somewhere within, as well as a suitable work station to create them.
