Dungeon 10 Turn 2
————
Ricki shreds the barely-visible spider web with her swiftblade, while Lara quickly darts past and kills the spider behind it with one strike. Again, Lara takes no damage despite being attacked by two spiders.
Ricki wants to go explore the next room, but can’t do so after attacking the web. If only there were a less intensive way to destroy one…
Ricki: Scout next room
Lara: Attack Drider (reminder WolfSpider is weak noodle with 2att and 5HP+1Def)
next turn Lara finishes Drider and Ricki kills SpiderWolf.
In that case Ricki could use her action to open one of the chests before exploring?
Lets not start a fight here with unknown enemies, because we need to be moving on. Remember that if we leave an ongoing fight those enemies get to attack.
Also if Drider doesn’t do poison damage (I mean, they probably do but we don’t know yet) Lara could get CREAMED in that fight.
Wolfspider doesn’t do poison so there’s no guaranteed +9 def there.
Our torch, maybe? Though we’d need to keep it away from Lara if we don’t want to mess up her Night Eyes
Disarm it with the lockpicks as it is a trap. We know now that any attack, even against an object, will still end the turn
Ricki: Move Right. Ask Lara about Driders and Mini Death Spiders. specifically about abilities and if they are venomous. Also if the Archives might be locked or not.
Lara: Use your Knowledge of the Spider Goddess to answer Ricki’s questions as you move right with her.
Reasoning: Timeline is biggest concern.
Attacking Drider commits us to another turn of just looting.
Lara is an expert on this temple and the creatures within. She should be able to give us some useful intel that may save us having to lens the Drider. She may also be able to confirm if Mini spider is a pet or the harbinger of DEATH.
Its kinda boring to just talk i know but think of the LORE and how much this info will save us on future actions…
Conversations that give actual information have been actions in the past. This likely consumes both actions in order to get us useful info on the Drider, but at least we see the next room and we don’t get ourselves bogged down in optional combats. There’s no way we can guarantee a fight is finished and scout ahead at the same time, and we don’t want Lara taking a hit leaving a fight here if we need her to clear more mobs ahead.
Please focus on exploring, we need to see this dungeon as fast as possible.
Ricki: Unlock the door in front of the three skeletons.
Lara: Go to the right room
Reasoning: We need to scout the whole dungeon ASAP but we also probably want the pet spider. Why waste an action if we only have two a turn? Lara can explore as good as ricki, she just doesnt see a lot ( but we as the readers, and Ricki will).
I doubt that’s a pet spider. It seems much more likely to be a horrendous murder spider like the blood rat was. That rat did 7 damage as a reminder. Thankfully this would be poison damage, but still.
The blood rat also unlocked that chest with the funny dagger as far as I recall.
Yes, as that was a puzzle chest which was blood-rat colored.
Ricki: Drop one lockpick in front of the bottom locked door(just in case of inventory issues), then loot the locked chest with a remaining lockpick then move a room right along with Lara.
Lara: While moving with Ricki for the whole turn, think of what you know about these new enemies, specifically the drider and the tiny spider on the chest.
Explanation:
Scout, gets us information and an item that might come in handy very soon.
This has a very high chance of aggro’ing the wolf spider (which is admittedly weak), maybe also the drider
Most enemies don’t aggro on sight if we don’t walk through them or attack them; we used ladders right in front of enemies in the tomb multiple times. And those that do aggro on sight like owlbears gave a turn of warning with the “!”.
Wolf spiders in particular have a “Chase Down” ability.
The wolf spider does have the chase down ability, which makes it somewhat likely imo that it’ll chase anyone that shows up in line of sight.
Edited movement to split enemies attacks just in case we do get attacked.
Ricki: Tell Lara about the drider and the tiny scary spider to see if she knows anything about them. The drider is a bit charred, but she still might know something. Then head to the right to see the next room.
Lara: Try sniping the tiny spider on the chest through the bars with your poison sting, unless you somehow know it’s a cute non-hostile pet and not a cute hostile murderball.
I think the tiny spider is a blood rat analog – so high damage but presumably very squishy. If Lara can hit it through the bars she’ll get it to come to her so we don’t have to take damage from the skeletons at the same time.
You may want to add a rider to the sniping – “Unless Lara thinks tiny scary sniper is a pet, snipe it. Else , snipe a skeleton”. I think LSN may allow us to add a conditional to save a potential pet.
Addendum added.
Lara: Climb ladder.
Ricki: Unlock top locked door.
Lara: Loot chest behind freshly-unlocked door.
Ricki & Lara: Explore room to the right.
Wolf spider may aggro, which isn’t a problem unless it pulls the zombie drider. If so, this splits attacks, gets loot, and moves us forward.
Wolf spider seems likely to attack and pull the Drider. In what way does this split attacks? If anything the Drider seems likely to be intelligent enough to attack the same target as the wolf spider.
Reminder: we have no guarantees that Driders do poison damage yet, so Lara may only have 4 defense, and getting hit for 2+??? is likely to be a pretty painful way to facecheck how Drider attacks work.
