Dungeon 3 Turn 1
————
Ricki expends one of her many, many sets of thieves’ tools to open up the locked door immediately in front of the dungeon entrance. It leads to a narrow staircase. Walking up it uses her movement for the turn. Kamau goes with her to make sure she’s safe.
“Hey Kamau, do you know anything about people with suns for heads?”
“…No?”
“What about green rats?”
“Sounds unhealthy.”
Ricki: Open the chest.
Kamau: Don’t do anything yet, maybe we get something superbly helpful from the chest.
Magic lens on sunhead might tell us if he’s friend or foe
Extra armor would help Kamau if he either climbs the ladder, explores right, or goes back down to trigger the bats (Kamau would be the closest target so he would be attacked first).
I suppose we could have him take the leather armor and the dagger (bats = 4 atk) if people think that’s the best play?
Ricki and Kamau, open and loot the chest next to you. Then, Ricki, go take a peek in the room upstairs. Kamau, go look into the room on the right.
Let’s not disturb the sunhead person just yet.
Let’s get rooms revealed while we can.
I’m mostly on board with the general idea, but I wish to note that Kamau does not have dungeon eyes or trap spotting, and will probably not see most of the room. Nor can he see in the dark, and he isn’t carrying the torch.
Ricki: open chest
Kamau: take dagger and leather from Ricki. Go through door and throw dagger at bats
I’m a fan of starting that fight, but let’s do a little more recon first. Checking the room to the right will tell us what else might come into the opening area.
When we do this, let’s give the sword to Ricki. Kamau can go back to using the Hilt.
Ricki: Open and loot the chest. Go check the room to the right. (Staying on this level, no ladders or stairs.)
Kamau: Tear boards off a window (let’s say the leftmost one). If that isn’t an attack, go check the room up the ladder.
Trade Ricki’s torch for a set of thieves tools.
So, the windows were boarded up. Sunlight is traditionally bad for undead, vampires are hit the worst but you don’t see the spooky graveyard rising up in the early afternoon. That said, we do have Mr Sun-head here, who might appreciate daylight. The barricade built around the chapel looks pretty hands-off, so I don’t think that the boarded windows are part of that barricade.
As for our goal, it has been hinted that the bell should be rung. Bells tend to be up high (and, in Dark Souls, low; as above, so below). Also, Kamau thinks someone messed up and broke something. That would’ve been three years ago, but I imagine it has something to do with our potential party member. On her preview she was running away from the chapel and seemed angry and/or hurt. With the dungeon typically sealed up, I’m not sure how we’ll find anyone in here.
Kamau: Open the chest. if it’s trapped we want Ricki far away from it.
Ricki: peek upstairs
Alternative Ricki: go back downstairs in preparation to aggro bats and run up.
