“…Eggs.”
“What?”
“The eggs!”
“The book said they brought eggs in here to try and hatch them into baby dragons.”
“They thought the magic leaking out of the big dragon corpse would be enough to make it work.”
“But we didn’t FIND any baby dragons! No bones, no giant eggshell fragments, nothing!”
“Instead, we found two EXTRA kobolds. Kobolds that HATCHED here.”
“From EGGS!”
“Then, years later, after even MORE magic leaked out of the dead dragon, another kobold came in here, and what happened?”
“Mac… I think dragons are dungeon-mutated kobolds!”
“And I think you just got mutated!”
“…I…”
“Maybe you won’t turn into a full, giant dragon like this, because you didn’t change while you were still in your egg…”
“Wow, this explains a LOT.”
“I’m sure some of the dragons actually were as bad as you’ve heard, but then others were nice like this one. They were just people!There were all kinds!”
“The kobolds who followed evil dragons are the ones that joined the Empire and told their stories, while the ones who followed good ones tried to hide. Probably most of them didn’t make it out, like these ones.”
“And maybe some small bit of knowledge survived about where dragons come from, which is why some kobolds are trying so hard to make new ones.”
“This is HUGE!”
“Oh… but we have to get out of here before the door closes again!”
“Come on!”
“Wait… wait!!”
“Not yet!”
“…Okay. Let’s go.”

Also, it’s funny how excited Ricki is when she’s talking to Mac about her theory. “You just got mutated!” like it was a prank or something.
…also, kinda hope Mac gets a similar visual update to Lara. Maybe not as extreme, but I think he could pull off yellow scales.
The lighter that Lara got from her bond dungeon didnt count as an item that took inventory space, so this is probably similar
