Dungeon 17 Turn 13
————

Ricki joins Macadamia in the entry room, dodges the flying book on their way past, and then dodges the grimoirm’s powerful attack after quickly adding her new scrolls to the pile. It clearly wants to eat the magic from her weapon and rings over the stuff on the ground!
Mac drops his newly-smifed ring in the pile as well to make himself less of a target, then throws the shocktail javelin from its place on the floor. Even without its added enchantment it’s still a powerful weapon, but it seems it hadn’t spent enough time in his hands to “attune” to him, as it doesn’t return after hitting the grimoirm! In fact, it appears to have been eaten.
The worm takes massive damage from the combined attack, including one of Ricki’s venom glands, but doesn’t go down just yet.

Plan: Finish him
Mac: Move right and see whats happening in the gate room. Move left after and pick up your rings, the shocktail (if it drops again) and 3 scrolls (death, Lightning, Holy) as part of the end of combat looting (ie, wait until the worm is dead!). Drop the Atatl to make room.
Ricki: Use Scorpion Gland and Kill the Worm. Pickup the special box and the last scroll. drop Poison glands if you need space.
We got doubly lucky last turn. That was almost a Game Over 🙁
When was ‘attuning’ to the Shocktail Javelin ever established? The narration said that the Grimoirm attacked Ricki, how did it eat Mac’s weapon?
The strict mechanical interpretation I expect here is that the thrown weapon has fallen on the ground in the combat and is being guarded, and cannot be picked up until the enemies are all defeated (much like how the total drops for a group of enemies only become visible when the entire group is gone).
This is a consequence of trying to use items from the floor, which is known to be risky due to being cheaty about action use. The javelin specifically “regrows” at end of turn; if you never used an action to pick it up, then it was never in your inventory to return to.
