Dungeon 16 Turn 41
————

Ix descends from the fortress and then descends from that room as well, swapping out his chain armour for a full helmet on the way. He doesn’t see any enemies here, though.

Kamau checks the entrance to the fortress, but he doesn’t see any sign of the general either.

After tanking another lettuce punch, Botanya hops down to the ground floor of the fortress (which is still shaking pretty alarmingly) and drops off the scroll she just got, plus a rope and her loose coins. She picks up the midas gloves and both nunchaccoli. Nunchaccolis? Whatever.

Ricki picks up one of the loose corn spears, then once again crawls through the hole in the wall to confront the imp.
“Hello again.”
“Sure is real shaky in this place all of a sudden. Did something happen?”
“Who could have foreseen that, I wonder.”

Plan: Grab stuff and Scout Peas.
Botania: Drop the flower with scroll and pick up the Wand, Move down and Help Ix up ledge if he needs it.
Kamau: Interpose Lettuce. Have Princess Bite Lettuce.
Ix: Move up. Move Right. Get up the ledge with Botania’s hand. Pick up Bow and Arrows
Ricki: Switch to Corn Spear and attack the Imp.
We really need to confirm if General is with the peas, but we cant send Kamau because Ix cant tank a hit from the lettuce anymore.
I’m also not keen at how far Ricki is from the group. If she’s going to help pickup things then she’s 2 turns away from helping.
Idea for next plan is have botania scout right while invisible
Ricki need to swap to corn spear or imp is immune!!
I don’t understand what you mean by “Ix cant tank a hit from the lettuce anymore”. Like, he never could without remorse anyways? Lettuce has +2 damage against him cuz ice. Even with chain armor he cause remorse.
Yikes. I never picked up on that. I’ve just been avoiding him tanking a hit cause we didn’t want to lose his fire form.
Fixed Ricki’s attack
I’m not sure we should waste Ricki’s action with the imp? Fighting it now seems pointless. She could go check on the peas while Ix peeks down the ladder.
Or not. I don’t know anymore.
Right now I see only two scenarios: turn 49 that damn fat corn will show up at the flower, because as far as we know it is the only exit; or we will find some onionchopper or whatever somewhere we didn’t visit yet and it’s preparing to take off.
Ricki is currently “4” moves away from pea room. I’m not keen on attacking imp, but at this point we might as well. Knowing that the General is not where IX is (and that the path is still clear) is a good sign.
guys we need to run for our lives
The group is approx 3 rooms away from exit. We can get there in 2 turns so we have some time for a rescue attempt
run, away
Tiny variant of claudious plan to not drop parachute
I’d prefer to keep parachutes in case something bad happen and we need to jump off ASAP. If no emergency happen, we’ll prolly have a turn to sort out our loot before leaving anyway.
Botania: Permabuff nunchaccoli with floor scroll. Move down and help Ix up ledge if he needs it.
Kamau: Help Ix up and interpose Lettuce. Have Princess Bite Lettuce.
Ix: Move up. Move Right. Get up the ledge with Botanya or Kamau’s boost. Pick up Bow and Arrows
Ricki: Switch to Corn Spear and attack the Imp. Loot demon ichor.
Thinking about the enchant more, the broccoli is a good choice to enchant as we can also item press it.
Not sure who would really use it tho as venom blade is better for Ricki and ix can’t wield it in fire mode.
Shocktail is +4, venomblade is +4 (but only with gland)
Broccolli is +3 at worst, with +2 vs undead, with +2 if used as two-handed. That’s max +7. And that’s before adding fire damage. I ignore option to eat it, but in dire moment it can be worth it too. Two-handed use plays well with Kamau’s interpose like here. Sounds like a good tool.
Actually.. Weapon can have 1 elemental enchantment, but shocktail is not enchanted yet, and has lightning trait. If we fire-enchant the shocktail, will it deal extra damage from fire and also deal dual lightning+fire at the same time? That’t not bad either!
Shocktail is death enchanted so it is +5
However, the broccoli can be item pressed and enchanted, so it becomes a +5 1h which is on par with shocktail.
Shocktail has a ranged option while broccoli has a 2h option. Both useful in their own way
oh right, I forgot we enchanted the shocktail already
I’m okay with the plan, but maybe we should upgrade the nunchakus first and then enchant them.
LSN answered in dungeon stream that we keep enchant when upgrading so it dont matter
Hey guys, did anyone want to chat with imp or we ok with just grabbing his ichor?
We’ve been warned multiple times about making deals. I am opposed to wasting an action to talk when we all know we won’t take any deal.
Yeah, my curiosity is satisfied. I would make a pact to save the gnome artificer from death way back when. I’m over it now.
To be honest, I would listen to it at least once. So far, we met the imp in places/times worse than here. “Deals” usually mean we have option to go for it or not, so “listening” shouldn’t hurt. But I think we should not invest in it more that 1 action to talk, unless we’re all wrong about the imp and unless he’s 100% convincing and friendly and provides some life-saver option. So waste that one action just out of curiosity, next turn kill it with harvest-corn-spear (it should be enough, right?) or move&actionmove to join the party.
I totally think it might be a play on us. At least half of our people could be described in similar way to the imp (hi Cordy, who maybe wants to assssimilate the whole life on the planet!). We also do not know if “demon ichor” is worth anything as well, that’s just as a gamble as listening to his deal once.
The worst case is if the Imp is a time-sink. Ask him what’s the deal.1 action / 1 turn spent. We hear he can do several things – 2nd action/turn left. We choose something, then he says oops and I forgot you need a special ingredient. 3rd action/turn lost. And so on. That’s why I say, listen to him once. Then decide. And probably kill him, just to see the ichor’s properties. No, I don’t conduct discussions that way IRL. 🙂
Looks 2-1 against so far so I’m not gonna edit, sorry. You can post a variant tho, I think most voters dont comment.
Issue with doing both chat and kill is that we need Ricki to finish lettuce off on turn 44 and she cant get in position if she is killing on turn 43.
if anything, I think we should save him as an “oh shit” button if we cant get down and there are no other options. Other than that, I think we leave him be.
That’s why I considered talking to him. If his deal is just ‘improve an item’ and not something related to the dungeon, then we’d at least know that ‘oh shit’ option is useless.
